Not at all. He had to be really strong mentally to act as Kira and investigate Kira in front of L. If he were childish, he wouldn't be able to do so. He wasn't a psycopath, this is an overused world, media uses it a lot in their sensationalism. He had a sense of justice, he had a strong will and determination while pursuing it, but the note made him harm innocent people, and that's the major flaw. I think someone who used to pursue perfection so strongly, would never harm innocent people. He wouldn't tolerate that coming from himself. He risked his life for that mission, he would put his life first before innocent people if he really had that super ambitious goal. If he didn't do that, the character would be even more controversial. Because he in fact would be just punishing criminals harshly. It would be the most controversial character ever, i would like to see it. Nothing better than snowflakes crying like spoiled kids over EVEN ART. LOOOOL.

Light also mainly did what he did cuz he was bored since he was a blessed child you can see him admit it when he talks to ryuk the first time. Now if he did all that mainly because he was bored then wouldn't you say that's pretty childish?
The idea of names having some big meaning in this anime has made me think a bit and I've come to the conclusion that maybe shenegami are like angels maybe and that the book is the thing that is demonic
