    I’m still laughing at the line of the grip that the old man at the park uses, hey boy come over here lol that’s funny. 😊

    One thing I would like to hear, is a deep dive on the rip finger, based on the grip type, and the direction/ angle the disc rolled off the rip finger and its affect on control, spin and consistency.

    I can't believe how much better my control is after paying better attention to my grip. I bow to you, good sir.

    In the last episode of DGAM (210), you said something about your grip should have an up/down pinch point, and not try to press the disc against your palm .... something like that. But I can’t tell you how much that’s helped my release! Thanks, brother. Keep it up!

    Ive been throwing for less than a year and figuring this out for myself. power grip for distance and fairway, control and fan grip for mid range and putter up shots and putts.

    Would be cool to have seen some clips of how changing your grip changes the overall flight of the disc. Absolutely understand about being busy though, thank you very much.

    I have watched several videos about grip and no one mention anything about wrist. Just found out that if you turn your wrist down it's much easier to get disc fly nose down than if you keep your wrist straight.

    When you say grab tight do you mean finger pressure or pressure of the disc into your palm. I think I’m creating drag with my grip.

    Love the grip video! Question for you, if a person has weak hands, and releases early occasionally, would strengthening my fingers help? Also could you give my form video a look on my channel and shoot some tips?

    I generally put and do any shots up to like 150-200 ft with pointer finger on the edge of the disc and my other fingers are doing a fan grip.. Is that bad?

    What is the best thumb placement when gripping power, control, and fan grips? is it the same for all grips? What difference does the thumb placement make?

    • @DannyLindahl

      Just inside the rim where the disc gets softer. About 1-2" from the edge.

  • @Bingeful_

    great video, do you have one on advice to help prevent "rounding"? I feel like I have a rounding issue and or a wrist roll issue. Not all the time but when I do have a bad drive it's typically because I pull it right. thanks!

    • @jbrake09
      @jbrake09 7 лет назад +1

      Bryce Tanner Make sure you're pulling on a straight line. That includes not dipping on your reach back or on your pull through. keep your hips closed as you pull through. the best way to see what you're doing wrong is to get a camera then look at some pros to see what you're doing differently.

  • @penator
    @penator 6 лет назад

    i saw a video from a random Discgolfer, doubt it was a pro. he said grip the disc so hard that your forearm don´t start to tence up. is this something useful or bullshit?

  • @eminence_
    @eminence_ 7 лет назад +7

    A while ago I started applying pressure to the disc with my base of thumb. Changed my game entirely. If you are applying pressure only with tip of your thumb.. you are doing it wrong.

    • @derekchessik2739
      @derekchessik2739 2 года назад

      The most important part of the grip from my experience for good spin and consistent release is in between the pointer finger and the thumb.

    I liked the video, but for me, the background music was competing for attention while you were talking. A different kind of music, lower volume, or no background music might be better. Haven’t noticed music in any of your other videos so far. Keep up the good work!

    So the disc should literally rip out of my hand?

    • @jedediahgordon4064
      @jedediahgordon4064 3 года назад

      yes, there should be no intentional effort to let go of the disc, at least on a drive

    • @kif1re
      @kif1re 3 года назад

      @@jedediahgordon4064 Yeah, that's my problem when it comes to lower power though. It just doesn't come out and can't figure out how to get a nice release on shorter throws. It's mostly like 80ish to 200ish range I have this issue lately since working on my form for drives. I just don't have the consistency so browsing grip/release videos for an answer or something to try.

    Danny I have a question about thumb placement vs the pinch point. It appears like most people put the pad of their thumb on the flight plate always from the pointer finger, and you push down with your thumb to get the nose angle down. But when you talk about the pivot or pinch point you put your thumb pad directly over your pointer knuckle on the inside rim’s edge to show how the disc will release from that point. Can you explain further? We’re talking about it here: www.reddit.com/r/discgolf/comments/an8esv/grip_question_pinch_point/?st=JRS5KBZV&sh=aa022f87

    • @DannyLindahl
      @DannyLindahl  5 лет назад

      It's not exactly a pinch over the tip of the pointer finger. It's more about not gripping laterally into the hand as much as it is vertically through the disc. I saw the reddit thread and I think it was discussed pretty well there. Thanks for asking!

    Sorry, but this question is not about grip. It may be hard for you to answer, you being young. I'm not young, I'm 61 and a rather new player. When I drive a disc I don't seem to have much of a follow through. My thought is that my arm speed is just not enough to generate the energy for one. I'm throwing around 250 feet. Should I do something to generate a follow through anyway? If so what practice drill do you suggest?
    Thanks.

    • @johnhighstreet5199
      @johnhighstreet5199 7 лет назад +1

      Yeah, I'm 50 and don't have the flexibility that youngsters have, but I did gain 75' from concentrating on nose down, so from 250 to 325. Hope this helps- and grip (I'm a carpenter) so less is more, just need less fingers on the disc.

    • @Noidstradamus
      @Noidstradamus 6 лет назад

      Follow through takes a lot of trust in your joints. The knee on your plant foot side (rotating side) mostly. I dislocated my knee cap last summer. Went through 6 weeks of PT, the whole 9. Now I find myself getting less distance and less accuracy than before bc im afraid to rotate on that leg. Wearing knee brace helps me. I'm not saying that this is YOUR issue. But I could def see it effecting a seasoned players such as yourself.

  • @seabas22
    @seabas22 6 лет назад

    You are wrong about fan grip. Has nothing to do with hand strength even for distance, it's actually the opposite as it's a much more relaxed grip. ruclips.net/video/UvsHetJkKFo/видео.html#t=2m3s Your swing arc dictates how much disc pressure(centrifugal force) is put on your hand and the hand strength(centripetal force) that is required to control it.
