Why kill patches? You need to hit 50% of his hp and then he stop fighting back, exhaust the dialog and reset the área 1 time, now he will sell you the items
Yea,but the soft cap for poise is around 110 and the armor gives 100,with the goat talisman(+30%) you'd have 130 poise which is overkill becuase tou can still get staggered by damn dog...BUTT it has the best physical damage absorption. Is it worth all that extreme weight for another 4 or 5 %? idk, that's for you too decide, but If it's just poise your after, goat tailly with a 65-75 base poise armor would do pretty much the same thing and wouldn't be overkill with all that weight.
@@FirEBeast Quite a while ago since I last played so I don't know the name of the location but maybe you'll find it anyway. Take a look at the map, at the first area you are in you'll enter the next area up right (the area that's drawn in red on the map), pretty close to the entrance was a bonfire to rest and right next to it are 2 huge crows on a tree. you can shoot them down and if I remember correctly they give 1800 runes each? -> 3600 -> + increased runes items -> every 30sec you get a lot of souls. I don't know if that's the best area, it was just the best area I found myself.
If You spare him and kill him You can get his armor and give the bell to twin husks at the round table to buy his stuff. You can then revive him later at the Dog church, that way you have his armor, his wares at the round table and can continue his questline.

Best place I’ve found so far is the Moghwyn palace summon 2 people and just have fun. After I beat it I kept throwing my sign down and I’d get 30,000 to 100,000 on average each run
There is some bird you can shoot that falls down a cliff and gives you 20k or smth. Just search for rune farm and it should be one of the first videos. It's pretty short
Just downhill from the first sight of grace in mohgwyn palace is the best spot for farming runes I've found. There's only 4 enemies that will attack you, and theres about 10 or so enemies you can kill before they can move. Each one grants about 2k runes, and a run gets you 30k in under a minute. Keep going down and clear out the next area to double or triple that number.
I got a place on the underground island where Mohg is that gives around 20k runes around every 10 seconds with golden scarab and golden foot equipped. I'm honestly surprised I haven't seen anyone talk about this farming spot yet considering you can get more then 2 million runes in less then an hour.

Fun fact: you can actually kill the elder dragon in dragon arrow, which can be reached via a church in the top right of limgrave just outside mistwood, which has a teleporter right next to it, which sends you to dragonbarrow where you can just ride through outrunning most enemies, and just sneaking past flying dragon greyll, heading to a fort next to a minor erdtree, where you can get a dactus piece and a talisman which buffs weapon special effects, then dying (after you rested at the site of grace next to the fort) and you can go over to the sleeping elder dragon you're not supposed to kill, and proc blood loss over and over with uchigatana, reduvia or any other blood loss weapon. Once you get it down to where one last blood loss would kill it, mount torrent and keep attacking it, and once it dies (it'll kind of lurch to it's left side where you're likely attacking) and indicate that it died, then run over to the grace on torrent, jump off and rest at the grace. If you did it right, the dragon should have respawned and you should be 50k runes richer. Thank me later, and I suggest you find a video on this because it's hard to explain properly through comments.

a good rune farming location is the Palace Ledge Approach Site of Grace underground. you can shoot the giant bird across the ridge with an arrow, it'll run off the ledge and die. boom, at minimum 11k runes every 10 seconds. with the gold scarab and the gold pickled fowl foot, you'll get around 26-30k runes. rest at the Site of Grace in between killing it and you'll be overleveled for every area in no time
Equip the Silver Scarab Talisman to increase the chances of the birds dropping the feet. You can find it in a chest at the Hidden Path to The Haligtree. In the large central room, there is a broken section of railing. There, you can drop down to an invisible platform, and walk to a small room. The chest is past an Illusory Wall, behind the Grave Glovewort. If you have glowstones, fire, or throwing knives, you can use them to help stay on the platforms.
Also you can wait and find patches after beating rykard before the shaded castle boss fight. He will let you kill him, giving you all of his loot and not needing to immediately kill him.
There's a new rune farm, it involves grabbing the swarm of flies incantation and spamming it on the dragon. The bleed proc is broken on it so it only takes a few seconds to kill the dragon. MAKE SURE YOU GET TO THE GRACE THE INSTANT THE DRAGON TWITCHES AT DEATH.
When I saw the thumbnail I was thinking you were gonna tell me to just start farming birds for runes and immediately started hearing DVDA's Live to Win in my head.
Using group passwords also increases your rune gain as well but testing at graces tests the bonus you get so while you farm every now and then it’ll refresh
I've found that killing those two giants that are chained pulling a large chariot net you about 2k runes and you can reset them by visiting the site of grace nearby and resting. Come back and they're outside again. Plus side if you're Magicka you can kill the 2 giants without alerting enemies.
This is a lot of work - the best rune farming area in the game is unlocked once you get to Mohgs castle, there's about 30 non hostile mobs that drop 2000+ runes each, you can easily kill them and get 30000 runes in seconds. I used Rhykards remembrance to get the blasphemous blade the art of war does a huge line of fire and with my build one shots them, but other big aow Ashes of War can do the same trick. You really don't need that many runes later into the game, I found I mostly needed them to buy all the upgrade stones I needed and then upgrade like my 8 favorite weapons, lol.
My heart dropped when he said kill Patches. Unbelievably, I never found Patches in Demon's Souls or Dark Souls 3, only in Dark Souls 1. I'm keeping him alive now that I found him in Elden Ring
Patches has a questline and it will bring you to Volcano Manor. Don't kill him as he will surrender. You can buy the cook book from him. Also being in a group can also increase your rune gain if a player manages to kill a shardbarer or become Elden Lord. You can join the SEEKERS group by Vaati or some other group.
Absolutely do not kill patches if you play a tanky melee character, you need to do his questline to get the strongest defensive, highest poise set in the game.
Just wanna say, like everyone else here is saying: don't kill Patches, it's unbelievable that you're telling people to kill NPCs, especially such a beloved, recurring one. You can buy the thing you need off him anyway *when*, not if, you spare him when you get him to half health. Then talk to him, exhaust his dialog, and reload the area. He should now be available as a shop. It's the crafting cookbook you need to follow this video, only a couple thousand runes to not completely screw over a questline.
One thing you don’t mention Is the fact that that cave is filled with scarlet rot effects that are super powerful and does a lot of damage and that poison enemies are in there as well who are quite annoying and it’s quite a tough trek to get to these bosses and will cost a lot of your healing potions it better be worth it.
He doesn't outright say it but the site of grave he's resting at is the best late to endgame farming spot. For midgame I would reccomend the vulgar militia at dragonbarrow. Start at the bridge with the dragon and just make up some route to kill all of them.

Theres also a tear for your wondarouse psych that increases rune gain
The abandoned cave has a lot of scarlet rot in it. If not equipped with remedies, do not go. Just activate the site of grace and come back later.
Those gold feet really help, almost doubles your amount gained
This video is looped very cleverly
One thing ive learned from playing souls games many times over is that if u want to farm. ALWAYS farm in NG+
The loop timing is insane.
If you kill patches you'll miss out on a quest later on
When I saw the thumbnail I was thinking you were gonna tell me to just start farming birds for runes and immediately started hearing DVDA's Live to Win in my head.
You can also shoot your bow on horseback while killing birds to make the fowl feet farming quicker.
Killing Patches early locks you out of a lot of items. Bull goats set, magma candlestick whip, probably something else that I'm forgetting.
Should also mention that putting SEEKERS in the group section you'll get a passive 5% rune increase cause so many people are in that group.
Also set ur group stuff to
RAGE
FEXTRA
jump
Those are all ones thatll constantly have u boosted
Or SEEKERS
@@maxeon0937 oh yeah seekers is another one i forgot to add
Stay away from the cliff or you'll run into a wizard that wants to groom your beard.
By gum, farming is grindy enough on its own, having to do this shenanigans just to then get to farming is, like, the essence of grind
A better spot for fowl feet is the great bridge grace, has 3 right next to the grace. Easy reset farm.
The way it loops perfectly
Don't kill patches you get a sick armour set from him later, one of the best for physical defence
Don't kill patches he give you the magma whip candlestick as a reward later. It's fun and op😉
This guy is a menace as many times as he suggested to kill npcs
Little does he tell you getting through the scarlet rot is a pain, unless you jump on the sides of the wall
Don’t forget about the talisman that also boost your Grace
You can also put on group code passwords for a 5 minute duration boost to your rune count
Birds be giving you 5 ruins 💀
Actually, the Gold Fireflies are closer to the site of grace north just outside of Mistwood.
Not only does he tell people to kill Patches the only other thing he says is "equip rune boosting item and use rune boosting consumable". Thanks, man!
He doesn't outright say it but the site of grave he's resting at is the best late to endgame farming spot.
For midgame I would reccomend the vulgar militia at dragonbarrow. Start at the bridge with the dragon and just make up some route to kill all of them.
One problem, killing patches is impossible. I can't find the attack button through my tears
Remember never kill an npc before knowing what quest line they have. Or the rewards they give
Say goodbye to the best armor in the game if you kill patches
Aaah man I remember entering a random dank cave , being confused as there is no boss and only a chest in the middle and killed the sassy bald guy...
I really wished I hadnt
Don't forget to also put on a common group password for an extra buff every once in a while
I love how this is popping up while I'm doing this lmaoooo
You technically don't have to kill any of the merchants. You could just buy everything when you meet them. It's easier, much faster, much more convenient, and doesn't involve killing your friends
Yeah it's very useful specially at Mohgs palace
Took complicated, accidentally beat the game before I finished my rune farm build
Bro that was such a smooth loop
