Great video's. Did my culinary internship in Yellowstone a few years ago and fell in love with the area. On one of my days off a week I'd go to Mack's Inn to use the Wi-Fi and listen to the river, it was relaxing. Beautiful area and I cannot wait to get back there for a visit.

The term for the long bits is 'ships auger' And the common use for the large bits with the long auger to extract chips is for setting newel posts in stairway rail construction. 1.5 and 1.75 are the two common sizes for newel post setting.

How are the joints and everything on this house holding up? It's four years later now, each log should have done the majority of its shrinking. I'm really curious as to whether or not this was able to shrink properly, or if all those rods prevented it from shrinking in sync.

That's why Foster bits aren't designed to drill completely through. Should have been using an auger or paddle bit.

I have watched different videos I'm different types I've log cabins. The one thing I notice right off the top. That each butt joint it's not locked in together. That's a massive air leak. The gasket underneath the log but nothing on the side. But beggars can't be choosers I like to have one.

Totally unconvinced you should be stapling your gaskets, Dude. 1/4" double bead of sealant and a gasket in middle might have been a superior technique? This kit is missing the butt end jointers and sealant as well. That kit seems like a lot of work. Good effort from your crew. Enjoy!

Not trying to be smartass, but not sure about the screwing the shorter logs together. The logs will dry out throughout the years, those long screws will eventually help to crate gaps between the logs.
Also, putting those short logs next to each other just like that, without any form of joint, let alone any seal? You can bet there will be gaps right through the wall in couple years.

I feel like the joints could be splices instead of butts. A Half lap would let you reinforce the end of both logs at the joint.

Hi there, I am thinking of going tiny, have been for years now, and really want to make this dream become reality by next year... Question, pouring your own foundation, or types of foundation for a shed to home deal. Shed delivered as shell, we build the interior... We don't have the funds for a foundation, but want to do it proper, and tips???

I am really surprised that whether stripping is all they use between the logs. Seems like they would use something better.
A little quick tip that I saw on another build. Use a shop vac with a reducer to fit your hole to vac out holes you drill. It will save your back. The guy had his made out of pvc pipe. And last but not least, a safety sally comment. Wet boots , wet logs are slippery !! I wold hate to see that young man standing on the log at the end get propelled onto that all-thread sticking up !! Made me cringe . Looking good !! :)

    • @captainnosmo1
      @captainnosmo1 Год назад

I dunno. The logs being placed are the interior and exterior walls, but they do need a bit more work from here; chinking, sealing, maybe more. Stick frame construction would require framing, insulation, siding, drywall, drywall finishing, paint in and out, trim... It might actually be fairly comparable, depending on the amount of time it takes to peel your logs. I would love to see some per square foot comparisons though.

Окисление, это не самая страшная беда. Металл имеет свойство расширяться/сжиматься - внутри будут образовываться пустоты и построика будет шататься или вообще рухнет. Либо идиоты, либо - "И ТАК СОЙДЁТ"!

Using pins, and rubber seal is very bad idea. They will not last as long as logs. Logs must be fixed olny by wood shape. Once I found a mortice-tenon-peg door, which survived in damp earth, and all metal hinges and screws on it were completely converted into rust

    • @captainnosmo1
      @captainnosmo1 Год назад

Pinning the logs with rebar (or the threaded material they are using) seems to be pretty common practice on genuine log homes- meaning not milled logs- basically large dowel rods.

It is my understanding that this step is absolutely necessary because the logs shrink so dramatically over time. This holds the whole structure together to prevent a *really* long drying and curing time for the logs.

The God of heaven and earth is Elder Park Tae Sun.
    Do you know God's name?
In the West, in the fear of the name of God, in the east, of the glory of God.
Here is the name of God. It means that God came out of man.
Is there anyone in the world who announced that I am God?
In 1980, Elder Park Tae Sun declared, "I am God!"
I will reveal to the world that Korea is the East, the place to fear the glory of God.
In Israel, the East is the Republic of Korea.
In Japan, keep the islands quiet in the Bible! It means not you.
There will also be a nation that will never perish.
A country that is not destroyed here forever is a country where the sun will lose its light and will emerge afterward!
It is the country of Park Tae Sun.
Do you know that the candlestick of Israel came to the East as the East?
You will see that in the Republic of Korea there is a new, never-destroying country.
God's Word of Man's Creation, the Word of the Alien, the Word of the End Times, and the Word of the eternal world are recorded on the following website.
Five hundred years ago, the book of the prophets written by the teacher of Nasagoda, the name of God is shown in the file.
IIn the above passage, God's name clearly appears in the prophecies name is.It does not matter whether you believe this or not.God will judge you and build an eternal kingdom.
