A lot of the people I know use the new swords on a condi-reaper. Not as much damage as power build, but you won’t die everytime you use a weapon skill. Plus being able to capitalize on fear for raw condi-damage (not bleeding) makes it a very viable choice for condi.
I was underwhelmed by many of the new weapons, I was disappointed thief didn't get axe off hand too, as they lack weapon choices, but they'll add pistol pistol to Ele with all those combinations and mace /mace to ranger, I guess there is love in Anet for those classes amongst the staff. A lot of the new weapons feel very situational, however I do like pistols on Guardian, maces on ranger and my new joy is as hybrid condi chill bleed shouting (relic shout inflict chill and chill inflicts bleeding) sword /sword Reaver. Edit : Ele only got pistol and all those combos thankyou @SwaggaDaHutt
I tried with 1 sword on my condi harb and then I added the offhand later to replace the offhand dagger. It was pretty danged good for map completion especially because the piercing sword waves tagged really well. I feel that the offhand sword is quite vital for the sword playstyle because it gives a fear bomb to add to your relic of nightmare (if you ran that one, like I did) after you sword 3-1 into a cluster of things you want to hit. I haven't actually tried this in actual end game stuff although I don't think sword main hand's utter lack of condi could be offset by the willbender levels of mobility on harb, which already has mobility. I am also currently playing the fuck out of my mace/mace untamed because there is no way it isn't getting nerfed in the future. Offhand pistol for guardian feels... bad on 4 but 5's breakbar number is pretty good even if it takes a week to charge up to max. Funnily, I tried putting rifle onto my condi Virtuoso. My conclusion is the same as yours after 1 round of Dragon kissy kissy.
Nice vid! I'm debating between making a heavy armor or medium armor legendary set. I'm still testing stuff all over, but I'd much rather wait for the upcoming nerfs. I'd hate to start working on a legendary set and have the classes nerfed.
There isn't anything to wait for imo, it's pretty clear what will happen: - Thief Axe will get nuked, even though the build is barely playable due to axe physics but it's thief and therefore needs to be nerfed. Don't ask why, it's the law. - Ele Pistol is in danger of being nerfed due to being played by Ele. Can't have that. - Guardian Pistol will get nerfed, it's quite literally blue rifle mech. - Ranger Maces will get nerfed, modifier is too high and too much baked in utility. Everything else is support or meh.
@@snowdropfox5754 that is likely what will happen, but isn't certain. They may have plans to beef up the mobs over the coming patches, so raising the dps floor might be a goal... unlikely, but quite possible... probability is a spectrum mate. The desire to cleave to either end of it is emotional :)
Would not fret about it too much... Just pick your classes you like and play them regardless of potential incoming nerfs Every class and elite spec has at the minimum one playstyle which is viable and surely that will stay that way (yeah some suffer a bit like mirage...) Regardless i am pretty happy with CmC, Taylor and Roy Think they are doing a really good job!

I really hope pistol guard isnt nerfed into oblivion next balance…especially since cvirt exist in its state since eod launch and nobody did anything about its damage, ease of use, or utility
Necro dual sword is fun and feels good, BUT it's incredible weak compared to GS Reaper. That and the health sacrifice can be very punishing without giving anything in return.
range is usually always weaker given the buff they have is the range. To compare it to melee is weird as melee should always be stronger than range unless it's magic that how RPGs do it

It will probably be "adjusted" to something like 42k dps, I think that is the magic number for arenanet 😁

If you go power reaper then GS is better, if you go Condition with Fear then Dual Swords is better.
