      How is it you say this is the finest bike on the road, when the Suzuki 1000GX has more power, less weight, better handling, electronic suspension, large beautiful TFT screen, great quick shifter. Seems to me this is a bit of a dinosaur in serious need of updating.

    I bought a gently used 2019 model that had been very well equipped with extended fairings, the Yamaha frame sliders, the upgraded top box rack and the Yamaha top box that has the integral passenger backrest (Its a $1500 option). I have the bags that go inside the panniers. It is a very easy bike to ride and very smooth. I've had it 20 months/10,000 km (Ontario so we only ride 7-8 months/year). It has so much power it does everything effortlessly and I find I rarely need to rev the engine past 5000 rpm as it rolls on well in any just about any gear but stick it in Sport Mode and let it rev and it's an absolute rocket ship. The one area that needs significant improvement for extended riding - the seat. My bike has the Yamaha Comfort Seat but it's not good enough for riding 500+ km/day so I'd go Sargent, Corbin or Laam. I did a 4000 km trip last year with my wife - Toronto to the Tail of the Dragon/Cherahala Skyway via Skyline Drive (Shenandoah National Park) and the Blue Ridge Parkway. I went with the FJR as the engine has a 20 year history and is known to be bulletproof, as an "older" bike the price is very good so represents good value for money, and although big' its not huge like a Harley or a Gold Wing so its easy to use as a daily rider (I take the panniers off). It is also very good on gas when cruising at road legal speeds. Mine now rides on Michelin Road 6 GT's which grip well and last reasonably well also.

As big as the gauge space is on the dash, they could install a MASSIVE screen. I want a new one, but there's no reason because it's the same as my 16. Come on Yamaha give us some tech....lol. Unfortunately not for sale anymore in Europe for a few year now due to emission standards here. Mine from 2017 has done 113.000 km ( about 70.000 miles) and it's perfect. Once had to replace front wheel bearings and it had the gearbox recall in 2021. With the Michelin Road6GT tires it handles great while the tires also last an acceptable amount.

I also heard lots of riders have dropped this bike both sides due to it's front heavy tippy-ness when maneuvering it at super low speeds. I hope you won't have any issues. This video has shown all the features that the corporate videos do not. I own a 2009 BMW K1300GT which retailed for 23K when new. I don't know who copied who when these two came out but the Yamaha has everything the Beemer does for around 18.5K USd. The last service I encountered cost me $1095! The K1300 is no longer in production being replaced by an elephantine K1600 six cyl. and the R1300RT both in the $30K neighborhodd. This video convinced me the FJR is my next bike and that's saying something since I've ridden BMWs since 1966. Thanks for the info and enjoy the ride.

    This Yamaha is likely the most reliable bike ever built, and the only bike that would upstage its service life would be a Honda Gold Wing. I own a 2008 Kawasaki Concours 1400 that I bought new, and it’s been very reliable.
    But putting the Kawasaki into 1st gear is a clunker, do the same on that Yamaha and it’s a very light click by comparison.
    With cruise control, electronic suspension adjustment and different throttle modes, this bike will be my next one when I decide to upgrade.
    He made a smart choice avoiding the BMW. Reliability and service life wise, it’s like comparing a BMW car to a Lexus, no comparison at all. Nobody wants a shop Queen.

    Yes handlebar risers make the biggest difference in the world... Custom seat would help you out greatly comfort seats out of Idaho USA would be good...
    I did have a sergeant in fact I am more than willing to sell you the top portion I don't like it to me it was too hard... I will give you a killer deal... And since you have the electronic suspension you don't need to upgrade the rear shock or the fronts.
    .. my bike has fallen over two separate times no damage to it either time .. because of having the bags on and sliders ..

      @bigair0176  4 месяца назад

      Awesome. Glad to hear about your mods. I just ordered some risers. They are sitting on my desk awaiting installation. I also ordered a cheap 25$ back rest to try out from Amazon for the passenger back rest. Gonna try it as it seems inexpensive enough

      @@bigair0176 .. may I suggest you purchase an air hawk .. that or an equivalent on Amazon.. the Air hawk is a little bit better than the other types .. but it is an inflatable seat cushion and I will say in my ride across the country it allowed me an extra hundred miles each day.. and I have hip problems but it helps ... My suspension mods are rear shock absorber is top of the line ohlins .. in the front gp suspension ... For me made an amazing difference... And then last year I put a car tire on the rear they call it going Darkside and now after 12000 me you can barely tell any miles on the tire .. a lot of controversy on doing that but I figured if I didn't like it it was only $110 ... My bikes at 88 me I feel that tire will be good until I'm at about 120000 ..
      ... Anyway just discovered your channel I will be watching additional

      Not much difference between the two only for the concours 14 is faster not that you need it how long is a piece of string and I think a 28 litre tank the GTR1000 have large touring tanks

    Bought a new 23 in March. Would not do a cross country ride with it. The wind and buffeting will wear on you as with the vibration at 70 mph. Its a sport bike with CC, bags, a shield and driveshaft. Good for sprints not touring.

      Don't agree on that, would easily ride 600 miles in a day. Wind shield adjustment will help if you have wind issues at speed. Or buy a higher wind shield.

    • @kungfucoach4579
      @kungfucoach4579 4 месяца назад +1

      Its relative. Try a multi state ride on a 5th generation Goldwing and the difference is clear. Plenty of luggage room, no vibs, no wind with a aftermarket shield...but the wings stock seat sucks. No wiggle room. Stuck in the saddle seats position. No handlebar adjustment. Not a comfortable position if over 6 feet tall. FJ triangle is better but legs get cramped...

      Totally disagree I have ridden my 2010 FJR 1300 from Seattle to Orlando.. And back doing 500 plus miles each day... On the way back one of the days I did over 900 miles.. but I will say I ride with an airhawk I'm a member of a group were three other guys have the fjr .. and we all ride with air hawk .
      Even though I have a custom seat ... 88000 on my bike and going strong

    • @kungfucoach4579

      The vibs don't bother you? Below 3k is smooth... over that is bothersome. Im on my 3rd windshield trying to find tbe best. So far the Yamaha tour shield is the winner. The CalSci is a joke. Puig is nice but not tall enough. Found out that your helmet choice has alot to do with the buffeting.

    Nice smart colour, I like these, but I have never had one, I recently got kawasaki h2 sx but I think I would be better of on one of these, h2 is to fast for a touring bike😮

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  5 месяцев назад

      Well this has no shortage of fast or power. It is basically the same as the zx14 or concourse 1400. Lots of juice. I doubt I will ever know what it really can do just on how fast it is to get to the speed limit haha. Cheers!

      @bigair0176 yes I know their good I have had a few xjr13's & just sold my 5th zzr1400 but the h2sx haven't got that initial tourque of the line then it just wants to clime to silly speed's it's not relaxing for touring, I was trying to get away from bikes that encourage high-speed riding for something more relaxed & comfortable but still with plenty off low down grunt and plenty of power. I like the changes they made to yours and it looks real good in that gloss colour ✨️

    I love the FJR and the Yamaha Blue. I had a 2010 BMW R1200 RT. It was between the Beemer and the Yamaha. Back then the 2010 Beemer had all the features I wanted, especially CC. It was quite a bit lighter and I just love the Boxer engine. Rode all over BC and NW US. Loved that bike, rode 20 K km/year.
