Hello again I just want to say how important this gorgeous girls work as a historian is. R.A.F Lindholme saw a great deal of history, sacrifice and historic characters visiting it when it was operational, this Doncaster girl illustrates with great clarity and dedication her research results, I so look forward to every production, as a Former R.A.F Fast Jet Pilot I know about the bond that comes from serving in the services and know that the past generations of servicemen and women would be delighted at these productions, it keeps their memory alive and once again I thank you for remembering these Airfields and those who served. On behalf of those who gave their all and cannot say this I say Bless you and carry on with this great project.thank you

I was Stationed at RAF Lindholme in 1958/59 when it was designated as the RAF Bombing School, with Avro Lincoln's. Vickers Varsities and one single Hastings. i was a J/T Engine fitter in ASF working on servicing the R-R Merlin engines fitted in the Lincoln. No real memories of Lindholme accept it was bloody cold in winter working on a Lincoln on a distant dispersal, after recently completing 2.5 years in Malaya.
Now aged 88 living in Wetern Australia, my memories of Lindholme are long gone, I do recall we had excellent Barrack blocks to live in. My final discharge from the RAF after 5 years was from Lindholme

Thanks for showing us round and best of luck on getting the tower and hangars listed . I am down south in sussex /surrey border ,RAF Tangmere has been decimated by Chichester council ,its seems to be their policy ! However their is in the corner of the old drome a very good museum " Tangmere military aviation museum" . Twenty miles north is RAF Dunsfold which was a complete operational drom untill Hawkers pulled out 20 years ago and now the council and developers are doing their very best to eradicate it . Would be nice to see planners /developers incorporating and or preserving our old aerodromes ,many of which were the last place on this side of the heavenly divide our airmen stood ,sacred ground to you and it would seem .

@@ianperry9914 gosh thats shocking 😢 Where has all the respect gone for our heros, who gave their lives AND survived living with horrors for our freedom 🙏🏻 I fear if they could see us now they would be so disappointed.
The saving grace / problem is RAF Lindholme is on the site of 3 prisons. I believe the old H blocks are part of it from what I was told so the hangars form a logistical barrier, but are too close to be housing 🙏🏻

This is a great trip down memory lane for me, I first soloed in a glider at Lindholme the year that you were born! That's quite a walk you did around the whole peri track - It's not the watchtower though - it's Air Traffic Control, or ATC. The parade ground itself is on the domestic site - which is now part of the prison, the area in front of the hangars is the apron where aircraft could be serviced & readied for flight, though for a big parade it would have been ideal. Looking forward to the next vlog.
