Dear Tony, I am almost 70, well, 69 and 7 month from the next mile. I play since 3 years piano and discovered your lessons searching blues interpretations on RUclips. Wonderfull, good, exiting and surely one of the best teachers around. I have learned so much due to your skills and the fine way you are guiding me to a new melody, song. I can not read notes, but now do know already the A to the G notes and what means sharp. I consider myself too old to start reading notes, and I confess, I am lazy except for trying playing piano. So I am steeling with the eyes the notes you are playing, and I play by ear following your explanations of melodies and watching you playing the songs. It is a blessing knowing you. It is a blessing to watch and see the way you try to enrich people to understand music and playing it. Thank you so much for your devotion and open mind in all kinds of music. You are damned good, I live in Belgium but do hope to meet you one day. Cheers, good job, very good job, excellent job. Thank's Tony, thanks mister Winston, thanks my teacher, cheers.

Hi Tony..this is to make you aware of a Monk peculiarity. In measure three the lowest note is not the F, Monk actually plays E. The real book and others are wrong. You can watch him do it on line. A couple of vids are over the shoulder views, it can clearly be seen.

Absolutely. Monk loved the b5. On of his trademarks

I wonder if you could do another tutorial using a different scale(s) so we can compare and contrast?
Thanks for your efforts in any case 👍

Do please check out the "Stan Tracey" version of this. I think it's on his "Sound Check" album. search "stan tracey blue monk". his chord voicings are so unique. it would be great to hear your analysis!!
