With a clickbaity title like THAT I really wasn’t expecting this video to be good. Pleasantly surprised. This guy really knows what he’s on about! So happy he brought up the diff between hypertrophic scars and keloids. Gotta disagree about the “almost zero aftercare” thing tho 😂
Dani Stratosphere I actually agree with the almost zero aftercare. I religiously cleaned my Daith twice a day like my piercer told me and it had bumps and wouldn’t heal. I finally switched from twice a day with wound wash to once a day with Dr. Bronner’s in the shower, and was stricter about touching it, and it healed. Less is more in piercing aftercare.
Kat EB it depends on how long you use the wound wash for as well, if you soak for 10 minutes twice a day can be too much but if you soak it for 5 each time it’ll heal just fine
I’ve watched every single Refinery piercing video with Body Electric. The piercer is iconic and it’s obvious he loves what he does. Hes so talented, I’ve started my own constellation journey because of Brian
I got this exact piercing from this exact piercer almost 3 years ago and it took forever to heal doing everything right and even now it sometimes gets tender. Everyone's body is different and heals at different rates. (p.s. I've had other cartilage piercings with minimal healing time so idk what was up with this one but it was rough)
I had my daiths done in one go. I have migraines so I was at my wits end and willing to try it. The first ear the lady accidentally didn’t get all the way through. I don’t think it was her fault I have thick cartilage in those areas. I screamed mfr pretty loud to the extent people ran in to make sure everything was ok. (I’m not a cusser lol) and she pushed it the rest of the way through. Then she did the other one. They healed very well. I tipped extra for scaring everyone in the lobby 😂
@@lolacookie453 Nope , I have found that if I use ear plugs I feel a bit better. I shaved the back of my head under my hair so I can put an ice pack directly on the back of my head. That helps some. There is also a RUclips video that shows different stretches, and I have found that they do actually relieve a little pressure but only temporarily.

Zero aftercare? You’re in for a bad time girl. That one requires aftercare. All piercings do. (Also dont give me that “almost” zero comment, i have this piercing and its the most demanding one of all i have.)
Lesieva hey! I have literally done nothing besides wash it once a day in the shower. That’s way less than I thought. I’ve had no problems with it and no pain. It’s the least demanding piercing I’ve received thankfully!!
I also have this piercing as well and it is probably the least demanding one out of all them. I guess it just depends on your body and how your body reacts to it. I’ve never really needed much after care with any of mine.

Had a huge blood blister under my helix. When I finally took it out, the blood blister popped out and was huge. Finally healed year later but I still have phantom pains. 😂😂
I love how focused and chilled out he is. Not everyone takes their time like that to make sure they do it the right way and at the right angle. Speaking from experience. I might have to see this guy.
I had this piercing done and it wasn't healing correctly for about a month and a half (my other piercings were a breeze to heal) so I went to my piercer and told him about the situation so he looked at it and said the jewelry (it was a ring) might have been too thin so the wound didn't have enough surface to like.. grab onto and heal over. So he changed it for a ring that was a tiny bit thicker (still really tiny because my ear is so ridiculously small) and in three days my ear was completely healed and I LOVE IT SOOO MUCH. I'm thinking maybe some of you here in the comments had the same issue but gave up instead of going to your guy to check on it..? Idk, just guessing
This was one of my harder piercings to heal. It took about a year for it to fully heal. I did everything I was supposed to and still got a bump. Having to go get my jewelry switched because the bump was so big, then switch back after it went down was annoying. Love this piercing the most out of all my piercings, but it def had the most aftercare for me.
I have that piercing. 2 of them, actually. They hurt like absolute hell to get and continued to hurt for at least a year. I've had a ton of different ear piercings and different sized gauges and the forward helixes are the only ones I still have because I put so much time into healing them.
Maeve Flaherty Exactly. The title suggests that the piercing heals immediately/doesn’t need to heal. Which is incorrect because any hole in your ear needs to heal.
Maeve Flaherty every. Single. Piercer. Says to do aftercare. Every single one. Including this guy. They disagree on what products and how often to clean, but not a single one will tell you “No aftercare whatsoever because the body heals itself...” No. That is not how you care for a puncture wound, which is what a piercing is.
@@maevebridget7705 You're correct but because a piercing is a "wound" you have to be careful so it doesn't get infected. You still have to clean it and take care of it like you would with any "wound".

I roughy up the posts of my earrings with a nail buffer, wash them throughly with alcohol and when they are dry I paint the posts with a clear nail enamel. I like the gel kind you can UV cure so it doesn’t have to be redone so often. Tried it the first time at 10 because I was sick of plastic earrings and I’ve been doing it for 25 years and haven’t had a problem.
I have 9 total piercings and by far the forward helix has been the most painful. I had all 3 done at the same time but I almost tapped out after the 1st one. They most definitely required alot of after care!
I have this piercing. I felt absolutely nothing when I got it done and it was only a little sore during the healing. Easiest one I've ever gotten that's for sure!
I have 13 piercings so far, love my forward helix, when it healed I never had any issues with it, it also healed really easily for me. Saline twice a day and nothing else. My conch, industrial and daith were more difficult imo because they're easier to touch
I wanted my tragus pierced for over a decade. More like 15 years but, I was afraid it was going to hurt. It hurt no more than a regular piercing. I am disappointed that I waited so long. So, when I wanted to get my rook pierced, I didn't wait and went right in and got it done. I even slept on both piercings the night I got it done. Now I'm ready to get my daith pierced.
I’ve had this piercing for 2 years and 8 months and it still isn’t properly healed. I had it done with 2 of my friends who gave up and took it out. Almost zero aftercare my arse
Susie Choban I have a black longer curved barbell which I saw in a previous video he said thats the best material for healing time. I stoped cleaning it after a few months and can’t remember how I cleaned it but I’ve never had any scars it’s just irritating sometimes. However, it’s fine now.
Gabby Riggers I think it’s just a difficult piercing, wouldn’t recommend to people. Although I have no problems with it now. It used to just have flare ups where it would hurt me for a bit

I had this one done a week after my first tattoo (which happened to be on my foot) and I found the piercing far more painful....however it healed so well and quickly I just put a (cold) camomile tea bag on it every night for a week 14 years later and fingers crossed never had any problems with it :) x
i just got a daith piercing a couple months ago and i’m not sure if i got lucky but even the piercer told me the aftercare was minimal. she said keep it clean and dry, and don’t touch it. i luckily got no irritation, no bumps, no rejection, no infection, and no scarring from what i can tell. quality jewelry and quality piercer 👍
That was literally the hardest piercing to deal with even when not switch jewellery, cleaning twice a day with saline solution and not playing with it; I still had to take it out.
My cartilage piercing barely hurt and healed up really well with just some saline spray. I sleep on it every night and have no discomfort or pain ever. To clarify, I didn’t sleep on it while it was healing
Hadn't considered a forward helix until seeing this video. My husband had asked me if I was going to add piercings to my left ear, since my right has a daith, shen men upper helix and lobe. This piercer knows his stuff and presented it great. Her eyes are gorgeous! When she had her hair up to show off the piercings, those eyes really stand out.
I got a triple forward helix pierced in one sitting and a regular triple helix another time. All of them healed perfectly fine in less than a year! To be honest, I wasn’t the best with aftercare, but it’s perfect now! I always use H2Ocean with all my piercings and I think it really helps with my healing.

As a piercer but also someone with MANY piercings I saw the title and wanted to watch just to see how bad it was but there were some really good points brought up. Cleaning your piercing is important but making sure you are cleaning it with the right stuff is also important. The only thing i would add is that not every piercer pierces the same way. They may not use those exact tools or that exact jewelry. Always do your research but also ask questions and make sure EVERYTHING is sterile and opened in front of you.
Titles like this are why people impulsively get piercings and have piercing complications and can’t heal them/grow piercing bumps etc etc. Every piercing requires more than “almost zero aftercare” and everyone’s body heals differently! While she may feel HER piercing requires little to no aftercare, it’s not okay to give the piercing in general that label!
Laughed at end when he basically said don't mess with cartilage piercings they don't like it.....I've had mine 30 yrs and it will still get mad at me if my head is wrong on the pillow etc lol
Every body heals differently, I got a cartilage piercing a few years ago and NEVER had any problems. I just used a little bottle of cleaning solution they gave me for like two weeks and that was it.
I think the title of this video is very misleading. All piercings require some daily or near daily aftercare. I have 4 cartilage piercings and one took almost 8 months to fully heal.
What’s wild about cartilage piercings is that if I were to take my earring out of my cartilage it would probably close up pretty quickly whereas I literally left my earlobes empty for a full year and they’re still there chillin
I got this piercing done. Took a year and a half to fully heal and not hurt to sleep on. I have 6 piercings, so ik how to do aftercare pretty well, this piercing needs extra aftercare. :)
Aftercare is extremely important with these type of piercings. Got a typical helix piercing and never took care of it, got infected and now have a massive keloid. Also never get pierced with a gun does more damage. Really wish I could’ve taken care of it better

I was quite surprised how she, being a nurse, doesn't know the difference between a keloid and hypertrophy scarring
The title of this video is highly irresponsible!
I’ve watched every single Refinery piercing video with Body Electric. The piercer is iconic and it’s obvious he loves what he does. Hes so talented, I’ve started my own constellation journey because of Brian
+mikoleigh So glad you're loving our content!
Same! I'm so thrilled I was able to film both my experiences getting piercing by BKT for my channel. Highlight of my time as a RUclipsr. :)
@@bunnyfromtheblock9987did it help with your migraines?
@@lolacookie453 Nope , I have found that if I use ear plugs I feel a bit better. I shaved the back of my head under my hair so I can put an ice pack directly on the back of my head. That helps some. If I take bc powder at the onset I can manage better. There is also a RUclips video that shows different stretches, and I have found that they do actually relieve a little pressure but only temporarily.
@@bunnyfromtheblock9987 ok, good to know, I’ve heard it works for some people so was curious. After suffering with them for 10 years I finally went to a neurologist and now take Ubrelvy at the onset and it has been life changing. Glad to hear you have found different ways to manage yours as well!
You do know that your body heals naturally that’s how scar tissue forms
Daron Dean cleaning it once a day is still aftercare.
nickj12 correct.
I also have this piercing as well and it is probably the least demanding one out of all them. I guess it just depends on your body and how your body reacts to it. I’ve never really needed much after care with any of mine.
Ok, so now I NEED this piercing! It looks bomb! And how cute is she? Perfect skin!
brian: dont play with your piercings
me: **playing with my piercing while i watch this**
and thats why my piercings always get infected
Andrea K hahahahhahh playing with it as i read this comment
Use heavy salt water in a spray bottle, cleared up two hella bad infections for me

@@dabdabthethird2410 Sea Salt water works wonders my helix was swelling and when I started doing my sea salt soaks it started going down and healing properly
lol ijus took my cartilage out the other day. It was soo temperamental I couldn’t deal anymore -plus a year on a neck pillows got my neck fcked up so I’m good love.
I really want my conch done but you’re right - I dread having to sleep on that travel pillow again 😂
@@aamenashaikh9553 I just got my tragus and double heilx done ive learned that if I cup my hand over my ear while laying down works
Had a huge blood blister under my helix. When I finally took it out, the blood blister popped out and was huge. Finally healed year later but I still have phantom pains. 😂😂
I slept on normal pillow🤡
You mean you can’t sleep on your side if you have a cartilage piercing? There goes my plans.
I love how focused and chilled out he is. Not everyone takes their time like that to make sure they do it the right way and at the right angle. Speaking from experience. I might have to see this guy.
the calming music during the piercing was so freeing and caring and kind like it felt like i was floating lol
Brian Keith Thompson! I love all the YT videos he's on. I'd love to stop by his shop whenever I'm around LA. Hopefully some day I'll get to visit!
Filming two videos with him was one of the highlights of my RUclips Creator life. I loved the experience and so happy i could share it with others.
No piercing has no aftercare.
It’s a piercing.
And what’s your logic on that? Body heals naturally ..
Maeve Flaherty
Exactly.
That is not how you care for a puncture wound, which is what a piercing is.
nickj12
Thank you.
@@maevebridget7705 You're correct but because a piercing is a "wound" you have to be careful so it doesn't get infected. You still have to clean it and take care of it like you would with any "wound".
Her piercings are so nice and beautiful! The holes are perfect with zero scarring.... Perfectly spaced etc. Beautiful eyes as well!
I had this piercing done about 2 1/2 years ago, it healed so easily and is one of my favourite piercings! Never had any trouble with it at all
These videos always make me want a new piercing!
and finally they removed that cringey crunch sound every time they pierce
My piercer is so nice! She provides the best piercing experience and jewelry, and is happy to answer any and all questions about piercings! I am so happy with my mid helix piercing
I'm so allergic to nickel. Everything I put in unless it's surgical steel, gold, or platinum bothers me. I can barely wear earrings at all.
+laurenbray We're sorry to hear that! Hopefully, alternatives continue to become available!
Look into comfyearrings. They use surgical steel.
Same. I had a pretty bad allergic reaction in an ear piercing, and that’s how I found out I was allergic.
I can use sterling silver, steel, and gold . Anything else and I get allergic reaction.
I have 9 total piercings and by far the forward helix has been the most painful. I had all 3 done at the same time but I almost tapped out after the 1st one. They most definitely required alot of after care!
Forward helix piercings it self doesn’t really hurt but does feel a bit sore later (in my opinion) not the best if you’re a side sleeper though.
It hurts when you get it
@@joliearanda6481 initially yes like a pinch but it’s nothing insane
I got my nose done at body electric, it healed so well! I'll never get pierced with anything but titanium ever again.
I’ve had mine for about the same and mine isn’t healed properly either
You might be doing too much, you might be using the wrong material for the bar, the bar might not be long enough to accommodate swelling.
I got my tragus and VCH done two months ago, I wanna get my helix and upper lobe done but I wanna wait til my piercings heal completely
This video was super helpful
only having 6 (4 left, 2 right) right now and I'm definitely craving for more! a little tip: aftercare IS important and pls get pierced on those who know how to pierce!
God I really hope this is slowed down, jesus if someone pierced me that slow I'd go mad.
I had this one done a week after my first tattoo (which happened to be on my foot) and I found the piercing far more painful....however it healed so well and quickly I just put a (cold) camomile tea bag on it every night for a week 14 years later and fingers crossed never had any problems with it :) x

Omg that’s probably why I keep watching this video
i just got a daith piercing a couple months ago and i’m not sure if i got lucky but even the piercer told me the aftercare was minimal. she said keep it clean and dry, and don’t touch it. i luckily got no irritation, no bumps, no rejection, no infection, and no scarring from what i can tell. quality jewelry and quality piercer 👍
i had this piercing done a couple of months ago and it’s healing really nicely
i have a cartilage piercing and it took more than a year to completely heal
That was literally the hardest piercing to deal with even when not switch jewellery, cleaning twice a day with saline solution and not playing with it; I still had to take it out.
My cartilage piercing barely hurt and healed up really well with just some saline spray. I sleep on it every night and have no discomfort or pain ever. To clarify, I didn’t sleep on it while it was healing
Nice - so how long till you were able to sleep on it roughly?
I love this piercer. He’s Amazing at what he does!
I'm so glad there are no more uncomfortable sound effects. I really avoided these video's because of them.
I would love for him to do my piercing he’s so precise and I trust him so much
He's THE BEST. I loved both my experiences going to him and so happy I was able to film it for my RUclips channel.

That particular piercing required the most after care out of all my piercings. I still maintain 9 piercings.
Totally agree! I have a helix, forward helix and rook piercings and the one that healed the fastest was the forward helix! No bumps or irritation whatsoever compared to the other two!
How painful is the helix piercing? Was it painful? Also, is it best to get it done with a needle or a gun? I'm planning on getting my helix piercing by the end of the year.
can we just talk about how pretty her eyes are like omg-
Was anyone else annoyed with the strands of hair in the frame? It was distracting.

Yup and it was cross contamination too.
why did she not put her hair back before this
Ikr! He should have made her pull her hair back neatly.
Her hair is curly and it probably is hard to pull back, she’ll probably break the hair tie.
@@sk-dy4bb what? Then braid it. Are you telling me curly haired people always have their hair down bc there is no hair tie in the world that will hold their hair back?
@@sk-dy4bb they sell extra thick hair ties. Also couldve tied it back with a scarf or headwrap. She didn’t want to which is understandable too.
Or just some clips for the side! Seeing the hair getting around the needle had me stressed lol
I admire how much time he spend studying body art and piercing, I hate how some places let just any body pierce, I've gotten a crooked septum and 2 bad cartilage piercings due to the lack of education in this field some people have
As a piercer but also someone with MANY piercings I saw the title and wanted to watch just to see how bad it was but there were some really good points brought up.
I got this piercing almost three months ago and it’s a pain in the ass to clean and take care of.
I just used a little bottle of cleaning solution they gave me for like two weeks and that was it.
i want this guy to give me advice about becoming a piercer ! im looking for an apprenticeship and he is so knowledgable
I think the title of this video is very misleading. All piercings require some daily or near daily aftercare. I have 4 cartilage piercings and one took almost 8 months to fully heal.
She’s beautiful 🤧
they finally removed the damn sound effects
It was so fun watching the piercing done up close... minus the head hair strands. That part icked me out :)
Her eye color is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen
What’s wild about cartilage piercings is that if I were to take my earring out of my cartilage it would probably close up pretty quickly whereas I literally left my earlobes empty for a full year and they’re still there chillin
I thought my lobes were closed, for like YEEEAAARS and years, and then I tried a tiny earring & they were tight but open! All 2 on each side
One day I shall travel all the way to the other side of the world to get a piercing by this man
You should. I did (well, other side of the country anyway). Haha

Getting this on both ears ASAP! IDK why I hadn't considered it before. It's the most unassuming little piercing.

"How hard it is to heal a cartilage peircing"
