Haven't been there in years. I like to shop early morning and they don't open until 8am. At opening time the aisles are jammed with employees stocking shelves. If you open late, at least be ready to go when the doors open. My local store is frequently out of advertised items. The store is small and has a very limited selection.
Very much, there's one right down the street from my apartment and I'm in there almost 3 times a week. Safe to say I check all of the DO parts of this list.
Sometimes, the cart lock may be worn so that just putting a quarter in the slot won't unlock the cable. In that case, push the quarter in the slot with your thumb and pull hard on the cable on the other side with your other hand.
my mom is French, and I go to France often. People in the US are so angry when you explain to them how this cart thing works. Like, "oh no", I am going to lose my quarter. like people first relax, use your brain. you'll get your quarter back. I wish more stores would have this, because more people might actually be incentivized to put their cart back. In Europe and other countries, its very disrespectful when you on't put your cart back. companies though don't want to spend the extra money to add the chain on the carts.
I love my aldi's, the cashier is always friendly and never rolling their eyes or glancing at their phones. Brands are different, but found a lot of new favourites there. And yes, that quarter swap outside? Hapens all the time😊
Aldi does have it's problems, it's meat selection is limited and not the best quality. Bread, even name brand doesn't seems to last as long. And price wise it's getting expensive. Used to cost us around 120, then it went to 160, then up to 200 just the other day the most we ever spent there came to $260.00.
Aldi is great. I'm just concerned that they, like other places will raise their prices. I remember when Walmart was the cheap place to shop, and look at them now. I just pray aldi will stay low price or I and others on Social Security will be in worse shape then we already are.❤
They already have. I was there today and was very disgusted. Butter is 3.99 a lb. I guess they are just like all the other stores. They are also gauging.
I've only shopped at Aldi's one time and never again. I prefer cashiers who know how to ring stuff up properly and know how to count items. I buy canned goods by the case and keep the cases in the card and give them 1 can from each case of 12. They want you to dump every can on the conveyor so they can scan each can because they can't figure out 12 of this, 12 of this, 12 of this, .... Or if you buy a package of 6 items shrink wrapped they want you to rip it open so they can scan each item. Never again, I shop elsewhere. Forever now.
If you can't get onto a military base to go to the Commissary, Aldi is a good alternative. But if you CAN get on a military base to go to the Commissary, then Aldi is only good in a pinch.
The stress of all those social requirements would keep me away even if we had one of those stores. Please don't give me 1,000 social rules required for shopping. I just want to grab a cart, get my food, pay for it, and leave. Why do that make it so hard?!?
wait thats a new experience for americans? Ah never mind, we actually take the same cart out as we took in. also bagging is not common in europe either, we take our cart with the products to the side and bag them there ourselves and that is what's natural for us, seems like a very american thing to me
Probably going to get some hate here but I do not like Aldi. I have not had the best experience at our Aldi. Whenever there is a sale on i.e. chicken I can be there when they open and there won't be any chicken left in the sale section, but hey they have other chicken. I went a few weeks ago and the cashier charged me for shrimp, then charged me again, then scanned coconut milk and then somehow "got confused" and charged me for the same shrimp package AGAIN! I can understand ringing up something twice by accident but three times, NO! I have to drive 62 miles round trip to go to the closet Aldi so I don't like having to make an extra trip to get 10.44 cents back that I was overcharged. They don't carry low fat cottage cheese, or xtra large eggs, I don't care for their toilet paper, I can get the brand I like at Walmart and it's cheaper. They don't carry swai fish, their zucchini was sub-par for 2.25 a lb. Their apples were 1.5 times higher than walmart. Their good bread is higher than walmart. If you want plain wheat bread than yes it was almost the same price as walmart. I could go on but I won't. Aldi for me was a flop and I won't be going back. I saved 23.45 total to drive 62 miles, which is approx. 24.80 to drive round trip for gas, and mileage on my truck, so nope. You can have my share of Aldi, I'll pass.
Aldis, is not the best shopping experience. I don't use a Cart! I get one or two of their bags upfront, load my groceries into one or both of the bags, depending on much groceries I buy! Go straight to self checkout, scan all my groceries, then the bags, then I pay, and load my bags , and exit the store! No one ever bothers me! I pay, I go! They need organic vegetables and fruit! As an addendum: to the person that says about this being a training video: I AGREE COMPLETELY ! THIS VIDEO IS TOTAL NONSENSE! Joey in Cleveland
Is it just me or was this more of a list of reasons to NEVER go to Aldi? I pay enough for groceries to not have a store “training” me on how they want me to shop. No thanks.
There is no training lol it’s common sense- don’t rely on people to do everything for you. And this is coming from someone who is okay with paying people for services that I can do myself lol
It is a DEPOSIT, not rent. If you return the cart, you get the quarter back. Rent would only return a portion or none. Took me 30 seconds to figure why they did this. 1)The less time the cart is in the parking lot, the less chance it gets hit (or hits something). Also moving a grouped set of carts adds to the wear. 2)No extra help or equipment needed (cart pusher).
All the money that you pay at Aldi for your groceries goes to Europe not the US, because they are wholly owned by the company headquarters in Germany. Keep your money inside the United States!
And doesn't some of that money go to the local economy in the form of salaries? All grocery chains are multi-national unless you are fortunate enough to have a local coop and can afford to shop there.
Do you like shopping at Aldi?

I have lost money when inserting coins for a cart. Stupid idea. Many people struggle with this. Carts are still left in parking lot.
Very much, there's one right down the street from my apartment and I'm in there almost 3 times a week. Safe to say I check all of the DO parts of this list.
@@MashedFood i like shopping there because thus far I can eat healthy and afford to do so.
Aldi is really good and cost effective. We started shopping there during covid and are now confirmed Aldi fans.

I LIKE ALDI 😎 👍

We're ALDI fans here! Been shopping there since the late 70's.
You forgot to mention that their customer service is probably the best in the industry.
Aldi came to our area several years ago. I never went. I saw they dont have some foods we get when looking at their website.
Maybe ill stop in soon.
I have shopped Aldi for many years and already knew all this.
They open registers quicker than Walmart!

That's joeynomics for you
Of course they want you to take a cart!
In Singapore we bring our own shopping trolley so not trouble at all
While Aldi isn’t in my area, Trader Joe’s serves just as well

So glad you don’t shop there. Fragile and easily triggered customers are insufferable and lack self-awareness.

Now while i love Ali's good luck finding an employee to ask a question
Same thing happens at Wal-Mart.
You can go to a full-service store or a discount store. Can’t have it both ways.
The stress of all those social requirements would keep me away even if we had one of those stores. Please don't give me 1,000 social rules required for shopping. I just want to grab a cart, get my food, pay for it, and leave. Why do that make it so hard?!?
So relieved that customers like you don’t bring your bad habits to ALDI’s.
Why all the criticism on Aldi. I go there for the prices😊
They have very limited types of vegetables. I suspect that most people that shop there do not cook their meals at home.
Why is there a DOG!!! at a super market where my food is. If this is how you run your business I not shopping there anymore.

Not a fan. I rather pay more to shop at one store for everything I need and want for my family.

I don't like Aldi or Lidl because they don't have the brands I like
