  • If you are looking for a literature or unit study based boxed curriculum that is secular, hands on, and geared specifically for gifted learners, this is the one for you! Moving Beyond the Page uses an integrated learning approach and I love their selection of literature. Hope you find this walkthrough helpful!

Thanks for this review! I’m currently trying to decide between Moving Beyond The Page and Book Shark. They seem to be very similar and both are literature based. Only I see Book Shark does have a text book to go with each unit and they have read aloud, plus the independent readers. Does MBTP have any read a louds? I hope to find a video that does as good of a job as you did showing how it all works with Book Shark. About how long does it take you to do MBTP Language Arts and Science or Social studies, plus your own Math curriculum?

This walk through is amazing. Thank you!! I really like this program, I feel like this is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I was wondering if you find the need for any supplements or do you think it does an adequate job in covering the topics? I worry about getting enough spelling and grammar practice.

Hi Alex, thanks for your question. When you purchase the curriculum (not single units), you get access to their online spelling program. Grammar is integrated into the Language Arts units which I think is sufficient for most students- there is minimal grammar in younger aged sets but starting from 8-10yo you start to get into it more. However if you have a struggling student, you can supplement with a stand alone Grammar program- I wouldn't make them do the whole thing as it would increase the daily work load and some skills will be repeated. Just do enough to fill in the gaps. Hope that helps!

Oh Lord, now every parent is going to want to try this thinking their little one is a gifted genius. But, what did Holmes do to you lol, are you reading off of a script lol?

Your kid doesn’t have to be a genius to be homeschooled. Just because you don’t care about your children enough to dedicate the time to them that they deserve doesn’t mean you should lash out at people who do care about their children. 😃
