Thank for sharing, I have been looking for something that I think would help my help Littles ones. After reading a little about the curriculum this seems to be the perfect fit. However I'm just stuck on which level to choose, I have reached to the company so hopefully someone will call me back soon. I'm really excited for this so thanx again for sharing

I hope they will get back to you soon if they haven't already. Were you able to do the placement assessments? You find them under
Helpful Links. If you click the link below and scroll down, you will see a section that says Helpful Links. I believe the 5th link down is to a PDF of a placement assessment. This link will take you to the ages 7 -9 level, but you can navigate to whatever level you are looking in use.

Hi there, I've recently come across your channel and am so enjoying all of your content. Seriously, it's inspiring, centering, and informative. I've been eyeing the Moving Beyond the Page curriculums for a while now, and I'm wondering what you think as far as this being a full language arts curriculum or more of a literature supplement? You mention that Moving Beyond the Page does have a spelling option as well, so in your opinion, that spelling program plus this curriculum would be a full LA program? Thanks!

      I have the same question...

    • @TheSimpleHappyLife
      @TheSimpleHappyLife  2 года назад

This is a super late response. I feel it could work as a complete LA program. I did, however, end up using it as more of a literature supplement. That's an excellent way to put it. I still used other spelling, grammar, and writing programs. LA is not my strength, so I felt I needed more guidance to teach my kids.

Love the in depth review!! Thank you so much for doing this. I may have missed you saying this, but do they all include social studies and history and science? Or is this something that's sold separately?

    • @TheSimpleHappyLife

So you can purchase the literature individually or as a unit. For the younger levels, a unit is the literature combined with science OR SS/history. Hopefully, I explained that well.

Hi. I’ve really enjoyed watching your video. I’m considering purchasing MBTP for our upcoming school year.
How did you like doing this curriculum at the end of the year? Do you have a MBTP review?
I have a a 7 year old(who will be turning 8 in nov and will start 2nd grade) and a 9 year old (who will be starting 4th grade). Do you think I could chose level 7-9 for both students?
I’m not sure if I should do 7-9 and 6-8 or just do 7-9 for both kids. Thank you.

We loved it at the time. We were all about unit studies and diving deep into certain topics. I don't have an end of year review. I didn't end up staying within the same level. We jumped around depending on what the kids were interested in learning. For some I went the level below and others the level above. I think level 7-9 would be a good placement for your children's ages. They have options and you can decide your expectations for them based on their abilities/skill levels. I hope that's helpful.

I love that it’s cross curricula but I’m wondering if the novel covered for LA is mentioned in the science that corresponds fir the unit ..or are they independent units just done side by side ? Hope my questions makes sense

Excellent video, sis! I gave you a thumbs up. Question though. Now that you've been using MBTP Language Arts, Social Studies and Science for a while, have you found that the cross-curricular approach is overkill for your kiddos??
I've had my eye on this program because of the depth, but have shied away because I figured it might be too repetitive as they are addressing the same topics for weeks at a time (albeit from different vantage points).

Thank you so much for your video! This will be our first year homeschooling and I was drawn to Moving Beyond the Page because it looks engaging and organic. Did you feel at all that your 7 year old is missing out on the "2nd" grade curriculum? I have 2 kids 7 & 9 (entering 2nd and 3rd grade) and I was attracted to this curriculum in part because it seems like I can teach both kids at the same time. Do they offer more and less advanced lessons after the unit so you can cater to the older and younger student? Also, is there any reason other than the cost that you didn't order the full package from them? Did you find better books/materials on other sites?

Also curious about this as our boys are entering 2nd and 5th and very far apart academically so I know I couldn't use the same age range. It would be great if they covered the same topics at the same time just one more in depth and one a bit easier. I think it would be way too time consuming for me to help w 2 totally separate sets. We are brand new to homeschooling and feeling very overwhelmed!

Hey my apologies for taking so long to respond! Not sure how I missed this message.
      Welcome homeschool mama!
This year I knew I wanted to do unit studies to teach both of my boys at the same time. I just love the idea of teaching them in this in-depth way and and having intentional cross-curricular connections.
Now before I knew what unit studies we were going to use or that I was going to create, I decided to purchase the ebooks of the Evan Moor homeschool curriculum. I plan to put a video out about that in the next week or so. We are using this as our independent work. I have purchased the ebooks for second grade and fourth grade from their homeschool curriculums. So whatever we are working on in the language arts portion of moving beyond the page I plan to reinforce and supplement with Evan Moor "at grade level" workbooks.
The curriculum is pricey and since it's new to us I wanted to make sure it was really going to work for us. If you feel like this is something you want to just go with I would say go ahead and purchase the whole year. I have now purchased the first 2 concepts.
Like I said I've gotten a couple of emails and DMs on Instagram asking similar questions... so I'm trying to get that video out to kind of clarify how I'm making sure that the boys are getting what they need at their grade levels. This is important for me because our state requires annual testing. Although moving beyond the page says that it meets National standards... At least that's my understanding. So I'm going to see how it goes and see how in-depth it covers those things. I don't want my boys to have to do more work than necessary to comprehend what they need to... I just know that Evan Moore and scholastic workbooks have been a really nice compliment or supplement to whatever curriculum we've tried. Hopefully that makes sense for now.
If you have any other questions please follow up.

@@lb9549 Oh homeschool momma! I get the overwhelm. 🤗 You got this though!
I can understand how trying to do this program at different levels with two children could be a bit involved. Although I do believe the 6th level of this program is much more independent. So I would think the 5th grade level would be preparing them to move in that direction. So it may not be as crazy to alternate between your kids... As your fifth grader would be doing more on their own.
The books at the level we're doing will be pretty easy for my fourth grader to read through, BUT we're not as strong in our writing. I think working at this level will give him a chance to focus on those skills during our units. He will have his own independent reading that will challenge him in a way that this curriculum most likely will not... When it comes to reading.
I plan to share a video in the next week or so of how I am providing them with independent work and lessons to make sure that they are at grade level for our states required annual testing.
Although I feel that we could Just do moving beyond the page and be ready for the exams...I still feel pretty new to homeschooling and it's definitely a security net for me to have other supplements.
