    Good see you bk been using nt labs clay for few years now some people don't like it but I think it's great got all minerals in for koi 👍

      Cheers Dave, I use it every couple of months when the water looks like it needs a bit of help with the fines. I did you another video last season on Mediclay but missed bits out

    Used the NT lab's clay last year first time ever with a clay product to give it a go it will clump the fines to help get them snagged in the filters and if you suffer with fines it helps clear them but to me two lost days of cloudy water every week just put me off, But that's me its worth a try especially if you cant get filter floss in a pond return some place on your setup

      Cheers Martyn, yes there's that to the downside plus repeated use affects the pH levels. I restrict it to once every couple of months.

    Hi Kev, ponds looking well and plants are coming on well, you should try mixing some passion flower plants in with your clematis the flowers are really striking and there's different varieties, moggies usually have them in there outdoor garden stand, stay safe.
    Rob.

    Hi Kev, I'm a new subscriber to your channel and a relatively new Koi Keeper too. Re the Medi Clay - Did I under stand correctly that out of every 7 days, you potentially lose sight of your fish for up to 3 of those days? ...Asking because I have purchased some myself Mediclay but haven't really gotten around to using it yet on a regular basis. Many thanks

      Thanks for the Sub my friend. Some people use it a lot more often but I use it every couple of months or so and yes it will cloud the water temporarily but it will start to clear and disappear over a couple of days depending on your filter system. As it disappears the fines and other bits will disappear too.

    ....Also Kev do you have a rubber liner or fibreglass?

      I use a PVC liner from Fiveacre Pond Supplies. All the equipment and items used are in the description below. (If you can find it as certain displays don't show it

    I want a window in my pond but now it’s established I’d be worried about disturbing them. Do you have a screen over the pond I was told this could help ?

  • @tospicy4ya
    @tospicy4ya 2 года назад +1

    Did u add the window after the pond was established?

    • @AKoiEnthusiast
      @AKoiEnthusiast  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes the Window was added about 4 years after the last upgrade. It has been in place just over a year now. I was afraid to do it at first time but in the end it was very easy and quick to fit

    Does this affect PH or hardness? I have a borehole (drinkable water) and the PH is 8.5 and hard water (so is my tap water), I've considered clay but increasing PH is the last thing I want but I do like the benefits it gives.

      Yea it does my water very hard also but I use it now and again just use a small dose

    • @AKoiEnthusiast
      @AKoiEnthusiast  3 года назад +1

      Cheers for watching. The advice from NT Labs is, that Continued use over an extended time period may raise the pH. However, this depends on the current pH level of the pond to start with.
