    2:40 I prefer some snow over the rain showers especially when it’s been 38 every weekend and rainy. It’s making a little hard to do my adventures so it’s why we been doing it some car camping.

    I live in a small village in south lakes and this completely took us by surprise. There was 9 ins snow, the roads round here were all completely blocked, there were branches and trees down all over the place. Then the power went off - for 2 and half days. There was no mobile signal, telephone or internet, so no means of contact anyone. There's no gas anyway so means of getting hot food or drinks, and no way of getting out to stock up on supplies. It was grim!

    • @KandCoutdoors
      @KandCoutdoors  Год назад +1

      It was awful, I think what made it even more difficult was the lack of a forecast, I checked both met offices and mountain weather forecast who said light snow showers. I hope things are getting better for you now, 💙

    Get the same snowball clumping issue with one of our Westies when out in deep snow. It gets that bad he won't move until I break them off so I have to sometimes carry him too. Great video as always. Well done for still staying out and having a great experience. I bet having a tent you are confident with like the Soulo makes a big difference in scenarios like that. 👍

    • @KandCoutdoors
      @KandCoutdoors  Год назад

      Cora kept getting to a point of the snow balling stopping her walking but as the day went on it got harder to break it off. She would keep stopping and look at me as though she was planning how to get her own back 😂. The soulo is great in bad weather, it gives the feeling of a safe place where you can rest without worry. Bloody expensive but I’m hoping to get many years out of it. Thanks for commenting 🙏

    You did well there, good that you abandoned your initial plan but still managed to salvage the trip and have a cracking camp 👍 Cumbria certainly got dumped on by snow, I live just iver the border in Lancashire and we only had a slight flurry. Can't wait to get up into the fells myself with my dog. She hasn't got a good thick coat like yours though being a staffie, got her a fleece, coat and even a dog sleeping bag! 😂 Thanks for the video, looking forward to your next one

      Thank you for you kind comment, I suspect had I got to Langdale I would still be there”working from home” 😂 it was still a great adventure though, I wish I had got more camera footage but my go pro was playing up again, Cora will be going groomer be for next camp, those snow balls on her coat caused matting so short hair in future.! Those fleece coats are great, I dread to think. She would have been a dog yeti! Have a great time in the hills with your staff, they are great dogs 👍

    Great video! Looked amazing. I felt a bit sorry for Cora and her snowball legs mind but at least she had her onesie on to keep her warm. It look a different world in all that snow and understandable how easy it would be to lose the track. Glad you made it back to your car safely and thos elads sorted you out. Just a quick one mate were you using mini spikes on your boots for this? Thanks for a great upload ATB Ray👍

    • @KandCoutdoors
      @KandCoutdoors  Год назад +1

      Hi mate, thanks for comment, yes had mini spikes, which I used on steep sections, also used an ice axe on one descent down a gully as was worried I might slip and need to self arrest and snow baskets on my poles, tbh there was one steep section where I wished I had brought my crampons but on the whole the micro spikes were great. I hadn’t expected close to this amount of snow but was glad I carried the axe and spikes 👍

    What bag did you sleep in mate?

    • @KandCoutdoors
      @KandCoutdoors  Год назад

      Hi Bernard, my bag was an Alp Kit Sky High 900 Long with a Therm-a-rest x-them mat which is a little battered and patched but bloody warm, I used the bag as a quilt, didn’t need to zip it up as was really warm with the snow fall on the tent helping keep warmth in. I did have condensation as the snow was quite high on the fly sheet and very little air flow,
