- Adam will share important lessons he has learned while carving out a career for himself in the public eye, whilst overcoming the stigma attached to his disfigurements.
Adam Pearson is a Presenter, Actor and University of Brighton 2016 Alumnus of the Year. With a passion for story telling and exploring the world around him Adam firmly believes that every human has a duty to leave this world in a better state than when they arrived in it by leaving an impact on the world and, by the same token, letting this world impact us. Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you decide to handle it!
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx
This dude is a badass!
EDIT: After watching all the way through, I'm curious why Adam isn't a standup comedian. He held space, hit timing perfectly, and had some of the biggest laughs from my stomach that any comedian has ever garnered.
I thought the very same, he made me laugh and of course, I mean this in a very respectful way. My son is autistic, although it is not a visible disability, we struggle with it all the time.
I think what impresses me the most about Adam is his confidence. Personally I’m twenty years old and I have Aspergers Syndrome, which is something I’m still incredibly insecure about. To see someone else be so open and even joke about his disability (which, frankly, is probably a much more difficult disability to have then mine) is incredibly encouraging to me. And btw he was amazing in Under the Skin.
Just discovering this dude! Yea, the way he talks and carries himself is so effortless and casual that I kinda acclimated to the disfigurement a lot faster than I thought I would. Guy's got a real handle on making people comfortable; definitely is something I could work on
I’m pretty sure he is not confident all the time. It takes balls of steel to do that. And his message is so important. I remember at 14 to 20 years old I was full of acne. Sad. Depress. I wanted to end my life here. With people like him. I will have been so happier. He is such a good dude. For sure. I had good parents who were patient and now I’m 38 and work. And live and love ❤️
You have a lot of self awareness which is amazing.
You’re doing great, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
Hyyy
He must have had great parents
My boy Adam.... great presenter, u have it.
I appreciate him and his humorous approach to life a great deal. One of my high school classmates died a couple of years ago due to neurofibromatosis; he was the first person I ever knew with it.
I have seen this person at the train station for years and last week I saw him in my carriage and I never, ever would have known.... Oh my, .. Adam, I will talk to you next time and not shy away, promise!!
So did you talk to him? Seems like a fun guy to be around.
Really love what you are doing Adam. You are inspiring a lot of people. Wish you all the best.
Adam is a truly inspiring man
Excellent presentation.
I love this guy’s humor and confidence regarding his condition. His comedic timing is impeccable 🤣 I wish him the very best in his life and career ❤️✨
Adam is amazing
He’s got a great personality on so many levels
Brilliant presentation!! I concur and make strides, regardless of how small, with my writing and presenting multifaceted canvases of my mental health series. Of course, it all needs to be done in a manner that is proper and refutes any stigma, and educates and entertains without stripping its positive impact. People do not realize that we all yearn to live a life where acceptance is the norm.
Keep up the good work!
Great performance Adam!
Great great talk. Beautiful amazing impressive soul. We as society love labelling every beings. Thank you, bless you. All your dreams come true.
This guy has the best sense of humour I've ever seen! He is just hilarious! I was laughing my head off the whole time I was listening to him!
That’s a stretch
This man is so awesome!
I came across the movie "Chained for Life" and Adam was in the movie and found him to wonderful. After watching his Ted Talk episode I find him even more engaging.
Adam rocks!
Your good person Adam like all of us
YOU are a HERO to me!
Adam is a legend
he’s hilarious the timing is on point amazing
I am legally blind, so do not have long sight. I have watched most of the TED videos of disability, and everyone sounds unbelievably experienced with disability and smart. It is only when I get close to the screen that I realized all of the speakers actually are disabled. Based on this experience o my own, I conclude: the only difference between disabled and ale body is what your eyes feedback.
That's really insightful
It makes me feel less alone knowing that other people have tumors like me. ❤
I saw adam in addiscombe before also cex in Croydon..
He’s funny asf 😂
I needed this today. This man is freaken awesome. I desperately want to think like that. I have EDS and it’s kind of was invisible until after I had my daughter (I aged like 20 years in 2 lol)
I have been very depressed lately and he made me smile and have more confidence in myself. Thank you ❤
You have made me accept pimples on my face. Thank you so much :)
He's alright, coach.
Anyone get here after watching the movie Under The Skin?

Living off what system....?
How do you eat? How do you see? Pardon me!
He has eyes and a mouth???????????????????????
If you told me he was wearing a holloween mask I would believe you. Heart goes out to him. He's a real inspiration to those of us who are diabled.
Adam I sent you a message on face book. I’m not very tech savvy but I would love for you to read it and accept my friend request. I love you🙏❣️you are and inspiration all over the world. Please read my message. My name is Kim from Dallas Fort Worth area usa.
Regular dude, irregular face
Dear Adam, we here at Acme studios were really impressed with your Tedx performance and would like to offer you to be in our next film we are making. Its the real life versions of Bevis and Buthead..
Poor Adam, he wanted to advocate for inclusivity and all his roles in films are playing a deformed freak for horror
What else would there be? You think he would play a convincing James Bond?
Enough !! I don’t care how you look .
But I do think you seek victimisation and just have a bad personality
All assaults etc are hate crimes !! Stop playing victim and you will not be a victim
No they aren’t.
@@AdamPearsonVideosassault isn’t a crime?
Keep it in the circus !
What circus would that be?
