You aren’t fearless. You simply can keep your cool and be brave in scary situations. You don’t overcome your fears, but you can face them a ton. I’m deathly afraid of syringes and needles, is there anything I should do to prepare myself for the paramedic portion of the pipeline as I hate needles. For reference I’m a senior in high school going to BMT this summer. Any recommendations for me from anyone? Thank you for any feedback from anyone I appreciate it.

Kam I’m right there with ya man, hate needles, I’m hoping that phobia goes away when the time comes in the pipeline

Not sure if this will be much help but just try and expose yourself to them. Just try and get comfortable with hold/handling them. Yeah you might hate it, but you have got to be able to be comfortable being uncomfortable, if that makes sense. Picture yourself treating a wounded soldier and a needle is needed to save his life. You don’t suck it up and get over your fear for yourself, you for everyone around you.

Consistent exposure! I've had bad experiences with needles (vaccines and blood draws) but through continuous exposure I've been improving. I am also a PA student so I think eventually I will 100% overcome my fear or phobia.

I had to get immunizations at 6 and ended up in a straight jacket being held down by multiple people after breaking a nurse's nose. I donated blood my first time in high school. Passer out and got back up embarrassd. Donated plasma the first time to give to my mom for rent - Passed put again. I went to Recruit Training for the Navy, was talking to the Corpsman, and woke up with blood all over my PT shirt - I had passed out again. I went to tech school for Corpsman and on first stick I got lightheaded but didn't pass out.... But enough was enough. I got to another school and started donating plasma twice a week until that needle stick became associated with getting paid instead of passing out. Today, I donate blood regularly to help save lives and am no longer afraid of needles. Moral of it all... Face your fears knowing you will grow stronger and some good may come from it

Also, remember that through the whole pipline process, you will go through hell and be tested to your limits. A lot of fear you have (and will find out about) will be faced and overcome. The paramedic part is not until the end of the pipline. I would not be surprised that you find yourself easily able to overcome this phobia, based off what you have had to go through.
      Just my two sense.

This doesn't have to do with the caontent, but I think it's funny that your squats are synchronized to the music somewhat (sped up) lol

*hello fellow small youtuber, I love this video. I sometimes can have NAFOD, which I hear is a massive NO in the military. 😂 but I'm trying to not be so ...fearless I guess? Could be because I've never broken any bones either, even with falling off trees, longboards etc. Bouncy bones* not really a cohesive comment but hey thanks for the video! 😂

On your website you state that A&S is going to be more difficult than indoc. Wasn't the goal to bring down attrition?

Since you got married and started a family, has your fear actually increased (more to lose, more to live for and greater loss if they lost you)?

Can't imagine the things you have seen as a pj. Both good and bad. Have you struggled with PTSD at all?

Do you mean pain is useful, I mean why fear? I don't understand why you must feel the fear. It only disturbs your calm. And this doesn't mean you ought not be careful, but it do mean do not let fear restrain ya.

Fear is useful, if you are not doing something you have a healthy amount of fear for then you are staying comfortable. Pain is part of meeting that challenge, naturally fear comes before pain or because you know there will be pain involved. As many people have said the hardest part to any journey is starting, once you are in it is when you overcome the pain. I agree we are not supposed to let the fear control us but it is doing the thing you want to do in spite of fear that is important.

@@HowToBeAPJ So basically courage versus bravery?
I believe both are necessary, at different times.

The only truly “fearless” people I’ve ever known were all fools and idiots; people who had nothing to fear losing. Or maybe they were just braggers.
