Just put an AWE switchpath on my 2019 Golf R. Been very happy with the build quality and tone. Well as good as a Turbo 4 banger can sound. Being an 'old man' like Matt I like that I can make it quiet when I want to.
Great choice Matt. I have an AWE exhaust on my 1LE. I’m fortunate to live nearby in Pennsylvania so I ordered my exhaust right at their facility. They took some time to show me what goes into developing their products and took me on a tour. They put out a top notch product for the money. If you ever have the opportunity to go there I highly recommend it. AWE is just awesome.
Hi Matt, I had the Sharky track pipe on my 991.1 GT3 and went for the AWE SP on my 991.2 thanks to you and Adam. Both had no fitment issues. Slightly disappointed that the cold start is still quite crazy. However the nasty is awesome! After my first run out we all agreed it's actually louder than the Sharky higher up but more tame low down. Enjoy it!
Like you, kept switching between exhausts on my 2017 Civic Si sedan. AWE just released their systems for it, I jumped on it right away and I couldn't be happier 🎶 Matt, wait till you get about 5-600 miles as that's when the exhaust breaks in and sounds really spectacular 💥
20:50 Just a heads up. It's not recommend to blow out the filters with compressed air like that because it can damage the fibres that filter the air. Just put them in a bath of soap and let them dry later.
Do you have knowledge on how long the air cones last? The ends of an intake system. I keep mine pretty clean via your method above, but they are coming on 4 years old wondering if I should look into new ones?
I think it depends on the brand. I would look up how long the manufacturer recommends usage. And of course a little bit of gut feeling, if you see fibres cracking a little it should be best to go with a new one.
That sounds GREAT! Super clean install as usual, that’s why I enjoy watching you work. I’ve always loved me some Porsche from the outside looking in.....but my Whipple’d GT350 will have to do 😄
"i want it to annoy other people outside of the car but not me in it" that's my exact same mindset to an exhaust!! Even being a person outside of other people's cars, I want it to be loud and annoying because I enjoy listening to other people's cars.
I like how the cats face straight back. I wonder if Porsche configures it that way for racing applications. Where you could have the exhaust flow straight out the back with no unnecessary bends in the pipe. Was hoping you would start it and give it few revs with no mufflers installed. I'm always searching for the "RSR" sound. . . FYI, a rolling tool cart would serve you well until you get your work bench.
Dear Matt, I own GT3.1 and it came with Straight pipes. And I am missing standart exhaust for resaling purposes. You have mentioned on possible availability of standart set at you stock. Could you make an offer to me?
Another great DIY install. The commentary and walk through of your thoughts is extremely valuable. At 54:00 you mentioned not needing to support the center section since the new pipes are lighter. Any concern that the headers and engine block are taking all of the weight with all the leverage unsupported by the center mount? I ended up using 100mm Mikalor clamps around my main pipe in my GMG center to the lower center mount as recommended by Soul. May have missed this part but what made u not reinstall the old Dundon headers you had? Is the new exhaust note not as loud?
Out of curiosity, are there any hangers holding the cats in place? Just wondering, because that would be a lot of free weight being directly suspended from your headers.
Hey Matt, what do you think of the exhaust set up from Soul for the RS? Thanks for bringing up the idea of not bolting the center section to the chassis. I do hear some faint rattling on mine after about 3k rpm after it warms up. I wonder if it is cause by the same issue you mentioned. I searched on Rennlist and I think some people mentioned it could be the heat shield that is causing the rattling.
Love it. Please make some varied fly-by and launch videos like you did with your blue GT3. That thing sounded amazing on launch! Straight pipes (sorry ‘curvy’ pipes) rule 😆👍
Only thing that I have had any problem with this set up for the last year...mine developed cracks at the junction of the ‘h-plate’ mounts and the center tube section that created a massive drone. Didn’t figure it out until it was discovered at service, AWE fixed it for free under warranty. Simply added and extra plate and weld at this section. Great customer service though!
Hey Matt, I’ve owned 5 C7 Corvettes with my latest acquisition being a Z06 similar to yours. Porsche’s have never really interested me, but if you had to pick a particular model, which one do you think would be the most enjoyable for me? I’m still in my late 20s and a $250,000 GT3 is out of the picture lol
Hey, I saw that you have klipsch speakers which speakers do you have, with which receiver. Can you make a video about it? Greetings from the Netherlands
Checkout Sharkwerx. I put this on my 997.2 two years ago........love it. Gives the exhaust tone a nice bite without being obnoxious www.sharkwerks.com/exhaust/p4931-sharkwerks-sport-exhaust-for-997-2-carrera-s-4-4s-gts-SHAX193
Hey Matt have you thought about wheels for the Porsche? Chris Harris has some nice magnesium bbs on his gt3 touring, very expensive but quality. Or have you looked at the manthey products? They do some cool looking canards for the the front splitter.
Hi there, good decision on car choice, I my self is looking in the same direction, thought Mclaren was the way to go back in 2014, boy was I wrong. Just a question to You or anyone else who have testet different exhaust on your cars. I have seen several videos of people changing exhaust on various cars and not a single person is talking about the need to remap the engine, or that the Eng controll light will probably be on constantly if not adjusted. What is your experience with this, if any? How about the temperature of the cats (I burned 2 on the 12C) they are 5000 usd (each) and that was only because an O2 sensor was faulty and it ran to hot. Any comments? Thank You..:)
With most cars, tuning is not necessary by simply adding an exhaust after the cats. Same with this car. The ECU(DME) on most modern cars like this will adapt on its own.
Are you forced by law to have the graphic on your plates in the US? It kind of blurs the F on your plate so it's not that clear and could be seen as PLAT instead of FLAT
I've never heard of that one, but doing a quick Google search leads me to believe this is in the same category as the rest of the junk that's import from the far east.
When I think of “straight pipe”, I think it means no cat, or resonators, and having a straight through muffler. My exhaust was like that on my civic back in HS. It was loud, so I put a “street muffler” on it to keep as quiet as possible, and used the “straight muffler” for track events. My swap was using a JDM ECU, so it only required 1 O2 sensor which I had in the exhaust manifold. I dunno, that’s a lot of info I didn’t have to share on why I called it straight pipe.
Would you ever get another F80 M3 if someone figured out how to make it not sound like crap? There’s a bimmerpost forum member that’s been playing around with creating an equal length exhaust. They figured out that the reason for the awful sound was because of the unequal headers. They created an exhaust that added 14 inches to the passenger side before combining them with an X or H pipe and almost completely eliminated the rasp at all RPMs. A company called Top Gear Solutions is currently turning his exhaust into mass production.
Obsessed Garage the G80 is going to have the S58 that’s in the X3M so it won’t have the same issues as the S55. But if any of the spy shots are true the G80 is going to look like crap.
If you want even more power than the Dundon you should try and JCR exhaust. Proper bit of kit with a lot of motorsport input, a really great sound, no drone and more power!
Hey Matt, what lift/jack system are you using? I've been looking at a few options for my next garage and I love your setup. Couldn't find a video about it on your previous uploads. BTW, the GT3 sounds great. I had the Sharkwerks in mine and it was easily the best sounding car I've ever owned. Thanks man.
Or...maybe, just maybe you might want to listen to the guy that has been trying and testing exhausts for the last 5 years rather than just watching video clips.
Ha, ha... Don't be one of those guys. Porsche is building an exhaust that has limitations. The exhaust that's on the car wouldn't be the one the engineers would choose. They must adhere to rules and laws that an aftermarket company cannot.
One of my hates too. Straight pipped. Or these RUclipsrs with ooh straight pipped and tooned (tuned) and they expect 1million horse powermore and listen to the turbo whistle and the pops and bangs from the exhaust 🙈🙈🙈
Porsche: Sport Exhaust system
Obsessed Garage: Hold my pressure washer
I'm not looking to change a GT3RS exhaust, nor will I for the foreseeable future. But this is still the content we needed

For the chassis mounts, you could probably get some silicon/high temp polymer dampers to put in place to eliminate the vibration.
Or make them on a CNC from a piece of raw material
I must say the sound and audio quality of all the clicking and clanking is quite satisfying
Just did this to my Prius along with stiffer springs.
I like the long videos, it really helps people learn how to do something, plus it gives me something to watch and enjoy my day.
There is something special to be said about working on a clean car.
Hi Matt,
I had the Sharky track pipe on my 991.1 GT3 and went for the AWE SP on my 991.2 thanks to you and Adam. Both had no fitment issues.

Just put the Switchpath on my 991.2 last month. Absolutely in love with it. Great video
Love this change out. I would love to do something like this on my Macan Turbo. Need that throaty sound. Great video. So glad I found your channel.

Someday . . . (991.2). I will however follow your previous AWE recommendation for my 19’ Raptor. Thanks for the content Matt.
I don’t even own one of these, hell....I know nothing about them but I’ve been watching for almost an hour! 😂😂😂
I'll be honest: I watched about the first 5min and then went to the end. I saw you reinstall the lights and start it. It sounds great!
Lol. I want it to annoy other people outside the car but not me inside the car. I love it!

Thanks for you video. I’m was going to only get the GMG or Sharkwerk but now I will check out the AWE. 👍🏼
Matt back working on the 991.2 just seems right still Waiting on my GT4 allocation fingers crossed.
Good to see the Porsche content Matt
made it just in time to catch this fantastic, thanks much matt.
Porsche easy to work on, you have take the bumper off to get to the air filters. It looks like the filters need a pre-filter to get the rocks out.
If you’re driving your mistress z06 it’s always in grandpa mode, just loud as hell grandpa mode
Great review of the manual, thanks!
Hey Matt,Instead of a work bench, could you reverse onto your hoist when working on the rear and use your existing setup. Just a thought 👍🏽
What are your thoughts on the 992 generation? The turbo and first GT versions should be launched in the not too distant future.
I thought the central exhaust bracket was attached to the engine and not chassis?
Dear Matt,
I own GT3.1 and it came with Straight pipes. And I am missing standart exhaust for resaling purposes.
You have mentioned on possible availability of standart set at you stock.
Could you make an offer to me?
The blipability of that motor is insane. Near carerra GT levels
Hey bud I had to pause the video and ask, do you have a link to that lift? I like it a lot.
Have you had any issues not mounting to the “h plate”? Mine has a horrible vibration and I’m certain it’s coming from that.
Cant wait for more Porsche content

So many screws - why didn't they just use clips for simple stuff like the airbox?

Hey Matt, what do you think of the exhaust set up from Soul for the RS?

Straight pipes (sorry ‘curvy’ pipes) rule 😆👍
Ha, ha... straight pipes... Yep, flybys next week.
@@ObsessedGarage I think the proper old term was 'straight-through pipe' which I think was meant to imply no cats, and no restriction.

I’m doing a combo of SW bypass and dundon catless headers on my 991.2 GT3. Will it serenade me? 😅
Have you looked into an IPE exhaust for the GT3s at all? Ive heard great stuff about them.
Exhaust recommendation for a 997.2 C2S? AWE doesn’t have one that eliminates the side mufflers.

Hey Matt have you thought about wheels for the Porsche? Chris Harris has some nice magnesium bbs on his gt3 touring, very expensive but quality. Or have you looked at the manthey products? They do some cool looking canards for the the front splitter.
Yes, I'll likely do FI-R on it. I just don't like changing the stock wheels if I don't have to do so. The stock are already great looking and forged.
Obsessed Garage Cool il look forward to it.
