It just occurred to me: If Ash's dad is a pokemon in this fanfic (Mr. Mime) that would make Ash 1/2 Pokemon, meaning that it's just as likely for the girls he hooks up with to have eggs as babies, meaning you can maintain that narrative even after it hatches. It would also mean that in the scene with Dawn talking about raising a pokemon it could literally be his kid as well. As far as how that would work genetically: All you really need is a matching set of chromosomes. I mean, humans would even be capable of procreation with dolphins if a human had one less pair - and, in fact, there are humans that live functionally with one less pair and could never reproduce with other humans, but could have a chance of procreating with Dolphins. Of course, this doesn't just work because of the number of chromosomes, but the composition of them, but Dolphins match humans in that area. To contrast this, there was a real world attempt to breed a human with a chimpanzee (Humanzee), but every effort failed officially because the human participants had one less chromosome pair than the chimp participants (and, yes, women actually volunteered to mother a slave race of Humanzees; although other projects instead involved human sperm and chimp females). Supposedly one Humanzee was successfully created, but killed by panicked Doctors - which is unlikely, but not impossible if either the human mother or chimp father had abnormal chromosomes. Of course, the mechanism of reproduction would still have to match the mother, so this wouldn't explain a full human laying an egg (she'd have to be part Pokemon herself as well), but in principle if Pokemon and Humans had matching Chromosomes than Human Pokemon hybrids would be possible. This is even more likely when we consider that in the Pokemon world humans appear to be capable of surviving things they shouldn't be able to, implying that the humans of this world are already part Pokemon. I definitely want to see that narrative advanced. It's a clever way to discuss teen pregnancy and make light of the situation.

I thought about her grandmother, but wasn't sure - that confirms it though. So Ash is 1/2 Pokemon and Lillie is 1/4 Pokemon, making the egg 3/8th Pokemon. Well, at least. Given the doctor's response it seems to be a fairly regular occurance, so it might not be unusual at all for someone to be part Pokemon and not even realize it. When we factor in the official Pokedex entries for how humans can evolve into Pokemon (Psychic and/or ghost type usually, but also plant type variants) it is practically canonical and you could even make reference to that. I find it very interesting how the Pokemon are literally trying to devour the children alive (and some hand around hospitals to devour their souls) and yet everyone just makes light of that situation. Like their post apocalyptic society depends on children learning to live with pokemon or die trying. As far as how to explain whatever kind of Pokemon hatches, that's easy: An Atavism is where an extinct trait reappears. This is usually epigenetic - for example, the genes that code for hands and fins are the same, so it's easy to switch from one to another if environmental conditions require it. A very good example of an Atavism would be chickens with Alligator teeth. It's a little known fact that chickens do have the genes for teeth, but unfortunately a mutation broken the gene that is required for it to work for getting out of the egg so whenever this Atavism occurs in nature the chicken fails to hatch. The only ones alive today were the ones whose broken genes were fixed by scientists, but all it would take it a single mutation to coincide with an Atavism for chickens to have sharp teeth. From there, the mechanism for tiny dinosaurs is also simple meaning that it should be possible - given the right conditions - for a chicken to hatch a dinosaur. Unlikely, sure, but it COULD happen. So anyway, with Atavisms it would be possible to explain a different egg away as a distant ancestor species. (it would be funny to see a discussion about the differences between Evolution and what they call Evolution in the show, which is more akin to a metamorphosis) P.S. - In most western naming conventions, gender is defined by the suffix rather than the prefix. So -der is male while -dra and -dria is female. Elliander is male the way Alexander is male. Like how Mario is male, but Maria is female. Although, personally, I find the naming conventions of asia and native tribes to be far more interesting being descriptive the way western names used to be. and to add to the Humanzee point, I found an interesting reference to a bald chimp claimed to be a humanzee, but in 1996 it was claimed by scientists to be a Chimp rather than a hybrid specifically because of the number of chromosomes, rather than a genetic testing, which I thought was weird considering what is required to hybridize.
With Ash being half pokemon, it would be funny if we ever have a big reveal that his dad is a Mr Mime to the other characters. It could hilariously explain why he isn't very good. I bet his moveset is... Swagger; Attract, Mimic and Copycat. He wanted to learn roleplay, but he can only learn 4 moves. Since all he can do is act confidently, attract a mate, and then do whatever it is she is doing it probably wouldn't be very enjoyable. Well HOLY COW guys! It's been a while! I'm so glad to see you guys in the comment section for one of these again! Let's address a few questions you guys probably have. Please read this before you comment (but not watch cause spoilers!). Q: Wait, this is Episode 8 of Sun and Moon...what happened to the Litten Episode?! A: Over the past 6 (or rather 7) episodes, we've felt like the series is moving too slowly. Even if we reduced the time to make them, and RUclips stopped being a POS in terms of copyright, it would still take us forever to get to some of the more iconic episodes (Gladion, Olivia, Lusamine, etc.). It's for this reason, we're starting to partially skip some episodes, as well as combine a few to move the series as fast as possible. This episode in particular was a combination of Episode 7 and (mostly) 8 of the Sun and Moon anime (and 39 at the end). We're hoping to move the series to the best episodes as fast as we can, without skipping the most important ones. The core story will be preserved. Q: But wait, Litten IS core story! Where is his episode? A: Again, in an effort to speed up the series, we made the decision to post pone the Litten episodes, until later, in which we plan to release a special longer episode that combines all of Litten's story into 1 episode (beginning at Episode 7 and ending at 21). We're sorry to disappoint anyone who was expecting a Litten episode, but this is an important decision for the series as a whole. Just to clarify, we WILL be doing Episode 7 and all Litten episodes in a special later on. Don't worry, we will cover it. Q: Why did this episode take more than 150 days to make? A: Geez, has it been THAT long already? Truth be told, there were several factors that delayed it. The most prominent however, was the awful RUclips copyright system. This episode was finished and uploaded back in March. Of course however, a copyright claim that blocked it worldwide was stamped on, the moment it was ready. This lead to an awfully long process (which RUclips refused to speed up at one point). The process took more than 30 days, which if you ask me, is pathetic (although frankly you probably agree). The main other major delay (although seriously not as significant) was that progress on this episode began in mid-December. And as we all know, Christmas was right around the corner. This caused delays for pretty much everyone involved, and progress really didn't resume until after New Years. Even then, we were all worn out from the celebrations, and it took us a bit to get our steam back up. Q: But wait...do the changes to this Episode mean Lillie is NOT scared of touching Pokémon? A: It would seem like that is so. The idea of the egg being her and Ash's child was an idea we conceieved (no pun intended) shortly after seeing Episode 8 of the actual Pokémon Sun and Moon anime. It was an idea we wanted to explore, cause it opens a lot of creativity and comedy for later in the series. The side effect was that Lillie's fear seemed to get sidelined. It made the original story (obivously) seem out of place and we ended up prefering our idea, because we believe it will lead to better development in the long run (just wait and see!). Q: How long will it take for Episode 8? A: While I can't promise Episode 8 won't take a while, I can assure you the script is in its final stages, meaning we just need to finish it, record the lines, and then I sit in front of a computer for several dozen hours to edit away (yes I'm pretty slow). Truth be told, Episode 8 will likely have 30 or more days slapped on top of the day I finish editing, as it is extremely likely to also be hit by copyright. And let's be honest, RUclips's copyright system isn't being fixed any time soon (unless we scream at them. WHERE'S THE FAIR USE BITCHES!??! #WTFU).
