    Use the same hose you use to vacuum it's much larger than a garden hose. Actually use both like I did. Emptied my pool in one evening.

    Better way to make a garden hose siphon.
    Step 1. Act like you are going to fill the pool, put one end of garden hose to bottom of pool, with hose hooked up to Spicket begin filling pool.
    2. Turn off water and detach hose from spicket (hose bib), water will begin siphoning out, move hose to where you want to drain the water. (You could use two hoses, connect them together where you want to drain the water out to, just disconnect them and the siphon will start.
    3. Find the deepest part and thread it through a weighted pool vac head (triangle vac) to keep it low in the pool. Move the drain end as far down a hill to the lowest possible elevation.

    I tried the hose siphon couldn’t get it to work. At the bottom of my pool I put the garden hose on the outside unfortunately now that it’s about a still a quarter to drain the hose kinked at the bottom and stopped draining. I took my vacuum hose that came in a pool maintenance kit attached it to the bottom where I had the garden hose and now it is draining in fact I have a small lake in a circle of my yard from the pool and instead of days or having to rent a pump it’ll be drained in a few hours. I’m doing this to put on a new pump, relevel my pool and replace broken pavers with new ones

    the other siphon method I use is fill the hose using the pool return jet, then shut the pool pump off once the water is siphoning on its own.

      I spent four hours trying that with three different hoses today and could not get it to work no matter what I did lol I even went as far as using a shop vac to try and suck the water out of the end of the hose never did get it done lol can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong and I’ve even had two people come and try to help me and they can’t figure it out either! Water will come out but it won’t continue to go out the hose once I take it off the return jet, I most definitely have to be doing something wrong so this video has helped a lot everyone please wish me luck lol I’m just trying to do this so I can get green algae that’s on the bottom of my pool sucked out with a hose without having to buy a pool vacuum, I’ve done it with a shop vac several times a day for the past week but it’s worthless having a 3 gallon shop vac you have to empty every suck you make which is barely anything 😂😂😂

    The major problem with these methods is that they leave 3 or 4 inches of water at the bottom. Trying to get that out with a shopvac takes forever because you have to keep emptying the container. Hard to believe there’s no easy solution for this.

      Hi. Pool guy here, we do tons of liners. We modify our sump pumps a bit, cut off some of the bottom strainer and add a removable skirt, or flip some cut liner around it to suck lower. Then shop vac and use sump pump to drain shop vac, then more shop vac. We drain the bulk of the water with a 3” gas pump, and with that we go in the bottom take the strainer foot off the suction hose and again use some cut liner to stop whirlpools so the pump will keep sucking. I can drain a pool almost as fast as I can cut out a liner and take measurements.

    I've read that if you drain your above ground pool it can permanently damage your liner. Is that true??

    • @huttomomof3
      @huttomomof3 Год назад +1

      Hard hard sided pool liner yes. The regular no unless a storm blows in or high winds take it.

    Also don’t just drain onto your lawn because pets or children could drink That water. Secondly the large amount of water can seep into your basement or foundation and damage your home.
