I’ve bought four watches in the past week. Granted, they were all under $100, but still. I bought an original Timex marlin, an orient bambino gen 2 v 3, an old 50s bulova, and a swatch sistem 51. I have a problem.
SNA411 Is my first 'real' watch (and that is before I've known your channel), and despite my wide wrist it amazes me every day. I like the bracelet, but despite micro-adjusting it doesn't fit me with any setup. I'll get nato strap exactly as in your video. Thanks to your channel I dived into watches and tomorrow there is a delivery of pepsi-bazel Seiko Samurai SPRB 4R-35 which I can't wait to come. I am obsessed with Japanese watches, but next step is a dress watch where Japanese Orient Bambino, Seiko SARB, Swiss Tissot and German Junghans Max Bill are at war in my head. I am getting closer and closer to pulling the trigger on this one. You’re right about Hardlex. It is the best mineral crystal I have experienced. I have not yet managed to scratch the crystal of any of my Hardlex equipped watches. Other mineral crystal watches have scratched in the first month or two of use. Be well TGV!👍

I own this watch. I switch out the horrible bracelet with NATO strap and it's a good little watch with tons of features. I can get past the mineral face... but I find it's too busy to actually tell time easily with a glance. This watch helped me realize that it's important to me to tell time on a watch at a glance. Don't get me wrong, I like the watch and will likely keep it for the occasional wear, but it's not that practical in my opinion. Of course, I'm just a Sailor and not an impulsive aviator. P.S. I have had this watch for 2 weeks and feel bad that it is cutting into wear time of my Seiko automatics. To me, this is a fabulously featured watch. It is very accurate and I use the slide rule often. We are far to dependant on our phones. Grow up, put 'em away before you kill someone with your stupid obsession. I purchased Flightmaster from Marc at Island Watch along with a watch tool kit and some straps. Sized the nice quality bracelet and then installed a black, olive, burgundy Nato strap. Looks beautiful on the watch and compliments Flightmaster's stunning good looks. Only down side is the use of a discontinued battery. SR 927 W is now replaced with 399 (high drain) or 395 (low drain) battery. I may use the alarm feature, though seldom, so the 399 is the better choice. Purchased 10 of these batteries to have stock on hand. Shelf life is around 10 years so should be good for a while. Also have a Timex chrono WR50 which uses same battery. Love the watch and growing very attached to it.

I don't know what it is about these Seiko's, but this one and the SARB035 really have a hole burning in my pocket. I'm a pilot, learned to use the E6B back in the day so I am really attracted to the flightmaster. I've always known about the Navitimer of course, but I can't see myself shelling out that kind of coin for something that is mostly a novelty since panel mount GPS's all have all that functionality and more, not to mention iPad or iPhone apps and even the ultimate backup of an actual E6B in the flight bag, so this might do the trick. Good stuff TGV, I'm enjoying your channel!

Moonphase is also useful to stargazers. It tells not only how bright the moon will be, but also when it rises and sets. For example, the maximum of the Perseids meteor shower is on the 12th, but I can see from my watch that the moon is now 3 days old and growing, so it will be quite bright at midnight on 12th. Of course that is not information that you need to have on your wrist all the time, but doesn't hurt. For me the thing is that moonphase connects the watch to one more celestial cycle. The hands measure Earth's rotation and calendar measures Earth's orbit around the Sun. Moonphase adds Moon's orbit around the Earth.

I like watches but have never been a collector, until I started watching your videos. I do not believe in spending so much money on a single watch even if you can afford it, but that is just my opinion. Long story short, I now own two Orient Ray divers (one black, one blue), a Seiko SKX009 (Pepsi) which I adore, a Seiko 5 SNHZ55 (aka Fifty five fathoms) which looks gorgeous on a bond black-grey nato strap and a Citizen Nighthawk which looks amazing on a Hirsch Liberty brown leather strap. On the way it is a Laco Bell X1 (will be my crown jewel haha) and hope to get this beautiful Seiko Flightmaster you show here in the near future. Great videos, great advises and thanks for sharing your passion which is contagious...

Also per you suggestion I upgraded the Orient to a sapphire crystal (nice domed one that matches the bezel angle) after scratching the mineral crystal just a few weeks into ownership. I think there's a whole area of possible videos and discussion regarding watch mods. Wish you'd consider the topic. Coincidently I put a forrest green nato on an inexpensive Seiko Quartz that has yellow highlights on the hands, much like yours and it looks like a million dollars. Thanks again for resurrecting my interest in watches and make sure you listen to the doctors.
I bought a variation of the flightmaster with a white dial and I love it. It has a solar powered movement, unfortunately it doesn't have screw down pushers so it only has 100m water resistance. Great video again and I hope you get well soon my friend!!

OK..... So my Flightmaster arrived today and...... I am with you mate, this is such a great quartz timepiece. I messaged the guy I bought it from on Ebay and he told me he is genuinely gutted he let it go, it was sold to help him buy a BB68 which I believe is such a great watch but I would be gutted too letting this go...... But his loss, my gain and will be with me forever I feel😂👍

Love the crystal and the dial and I even tried some calculations with the manual. Unfortunately the scales are so small I need a loupe to see them! TGV hope your doing ok! Can we get a video about you talking about all the little accessories and applications that come with watches? For example what is GMT, chrono, how divers use the bezel, what does hack-able mean, and all the things you can do with a watch. For us newer watch admirers.
It's a pain to set the moon phase so if you aren't going to wear it every day, a quartz moon phase makes a lot of sense. I think a nice quartz moon phase without a seconds hand would be nice- you don't have that big quartz tick and also the moon phase to me connotes measuring longer, slower time changes so not having a seconds hand fits with that.
+The Urban Gentry it has arrived today! I ride a motorcycle daily weather it s sunny or rains and I was in the market for a rugged quartz chrono, with good WR but with a classy chrono look. I'm never confortable when I use my old navitimer when rinding a bike. First impressions are quite positive. Fit and finish are above my expectations (it feels superior to a prospex I recently flipped). It s small and comfy and even the bracelet, despite beeing it s weaker point, it s solid and more than ok for the price point. The screw down crown and pushers are really cool and useful to me, because sometimes i push the chrono on the navi just by twisting the rist to operate the bike. I also find rather cool that there is a smaller movement wich can be used for alarm or gmt. Sorry for the long post and once again thank you for your insight on this little quartz jewel.
Mini E6B. ! Got same watch during me old flying days but age n eyesight n now we got all the E6B calc on ipad or bigscreen FMS, but still sentimental piece.alarm had gone silent though, its Protrek Comp these days . Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Sir. Stay Well!
First of all, I hope you're recovering and will be back soon. You are definitely missed. As for the Flighty, as always Seiko provides a LOT of watch for the money. That looks like a watch I could use when bike riding. My collection is slowly growing Seiko-wise. This might have to be a future purchase. I love Moon phases too. Ball's newest (esp, with the blue dial) is definitely one to look at. And one I hope to acquire in the future. I do like that Zeppelin, very nice. And your new Oris is a classic! That blue on the Zeppelin is just amazing!!! The way it captures different shades in the light. I could look at that all day, especially with the white hands, It looks like it's from another planet.. It would be nice if it was an auto or mechanical, would be even better. Does anyone know any other watches with that shade of blue ???
Just bought the zeppelin today :) great to see it unboxed by you. Nearly bought the small one with 36 mm but recognized the diffrences soon enough :D puuh.. But I ordered the nice pilot wristband which is soo smooth. That's one of the main reasons I decided to buy a zeppelin. Well thank you for taking my worries about the size of the watch. also cannot believe you purchased this Oris. the perception is still pretty strong - only divers are good enough :) Oris is pretty nice. Happy to see you getting such a classic piece. this is the style I like the most - patek/breguet-ish style with complications. prev review of IWC also was a good example of classic look to die for. Have fun with it and don't you put it on nato :)
i should explain something. i love the channel. i'm always entertained by the dinosaur. i love it everytime TGV snaps his fingers. my 2 presages were inspired here (including my SARX057) the thing is i find the flighty horribly ugly. the dial is too busy. i suppose it's all subjective.
Dear TGV, I'd like to start off that I've been a huge fan of your channel, love what you're doing. I'd like to purchase a dress watch after watching so much. In a year from now I will graduate at the University in Amsterdam and enter the accounting business. The orient bambino and James McCabe watches which you have reviewed didn't catch my fancy. I resorted to a local juwelry store today. The store owner had shown me a couple of Certina watches but also an Edox (model 56001 3 NAIN Les Bemonts) which was a mere 6mm thick and absolutely gorgeous. It was priced at € 495, which equals about $ 544. This is quite steep for a quartz watch in my opinion. It seems hard to find anything so simple yet elegant at this price. Any recommendations will be appreciated. Is there a possibility for you to review this model and/or brand on RUclips? The brand seems to be quite old(1880 ish) and the store owner told me they are well known for their thin watches(world record). I cannot find many reviews of the brand and I wish to justify the € 495 price for a quartz watch. I didn't like this watch at first, with the busy dial and all...but now I "understand" it and I would love to try one and possibly buy it if it fits my wrist. Unfortunately it's 250€+ and right now I don't really want to spend that much on a quartz.
Iv just bought 2 of these watches based on your review im so glad i did its a beautiful watch to were and a lot going on with it to buy the way i paid 600 dollors for 2 one to were one to put with my collection...no regrets....

+The Urban Gentry it has arrived today! I ride a motorcycle daily weather it s sunny or rains and I was in the market for a rugged quartz chrono, with good WR but with a classy chrono look. I'm never confortable when I use my old navitimer when rinding a bike. First impressions are quite positive. Fit and finish are above my expectations (it feels superior to a prospex I recently flipped). It s small and comfy and even the bracelet, despite beeing it s weaker point, it s solid and more than ok for the price point. The screw down crown and pushers are really cool and useful to me, because sometimes i push the chrono on the navi just by twisting the rist to operate the bike. I also find rather cool that there is a smaller movement wich can be used for alarm or gmt. Sorry for the long post and once again thank you for your insight on this little quartz jewel.

Mini E6B. ! Got same watch during me old flying days but age n eyesight n now we got all the E6B calc on ipad or bigscreen FMS, but still sentimental piece.alarm had gone silent though, its Protrek Comp these days .

That Graf Zeppelin Hindenberg moonphase is quite delicious. For €249 really affordable too.
First of all, I hope you're recovering and will be back soon. You are definitely missed. As for the Flighty, as always Seiko provides a LOT of watch for the money. That looks like a watch I could use when bike riding. My collection is slowly growing Seiko-wise. This might have to be a future purchase. I love Moon phases too. Ball's newest (esp, with the blue dial) is definitely one to look at. And one I hope to acquire in the future. I do like that Zeppelin, very nice. And your new Oris is a classic! That blue on the Zeppelin is just amazing!!! The way it captures different shades in the light. I could look at that all day, especially with the white hands, It looks like it's from another planet.. It would be nice if it was an auto or mechanical, would be even better. Does anyone know any other watches with that shade of blue ???
Just bought the zeppelin today :) great to see it unboxed by you. Nearly bought the small one with 36 mm but recognized the diffrences soon enough :D puuh.. But I ordered the nice pilot wristband which is soo smooth. That's one of the main reasons I decided to buy a zeppelin.
Well thank you for taking my worries about the size of the watch. I guess the 40 mm one is fine :)

also cannot believe you purchased this Oris. the perception is still pretty strong - only divers are good enough :) Oris is pretty nice. Happy to see you getting such a classic piece. this is the style I like the most - patek/breguet-ish style with complications. prev review of IWC also was a good example of classic look to die for. Have fun with it and don't you put it on nato :)

the thing is i find the flighty horribly ugly. the dial is too busy.

I'd like to start off that I've been a huge fan of your channel, love what you're doing. I'd like to purchase a dress watch after watching so much. In a year from now I will graduate at the University in Amsterdam and enter the accounting business.
The orient bambino and James McCabe watches which you have reviewed didn't catch my fancy. I resorted to a local juwelry store today. The store owner had shown me a couple of Certina watches but also an Edox (model 56001 3 NAIN Les Bemonts) which was a mere 6mm thick and absolutely gorgeous. It was priced at € 495, which equals about $ 544. This is quite steep for a quartz watch in my opinion. It seems hard to find anything so simple yet elegant at this price. Any recommendations will be appreciated.
Is there a possibility for you to review this model and/or brand on RUclips? The brand seems to be quite old(1880 ish) and the store owner told me they are well known for their thin watches(world record). I cannot find many reviews of the brand and I wish to justify the € 495 price for a quartz watch.

I didn't like this watch at first, with the busy dial and all...but now I "understand" it and I would love to try one and possibly buy it if it fits my wrist. Unfortunately it's 250€+ and right now I don't really want to spend that much on a quartz.
