Maybe I'm turning into an old man, but how cool would this be to run in as like a workout. I understand all the shooting and throwing grenades looks cool and does well as a promo video, but imagine being able to wake-up in the morning and go for a run on a beach in Spain somewhere. Next day, do a run through Central Park. Day after, how about a run along the edge of the Grand Canyon.

Obviously not as good as stuff a single guy puts hella of his funds and time into. The HuD that the helmet for the F-35's has? You can see all around through the jet for maximum visibility. That's AR, not VR, but still very high-end hardware and its the same basic concept. Equipment depends on the application, and when they need it the military definitely has access to things that commercially aren't. Easy example? Look up how many inventions and things have been made by the military and eventually become commercialized (the internet is perhaps the biggest one).

How many videos have you seen of people running into walls or falling down when playing VR games with their family! This is the answer for that solution; they can run as fast as they can, and kneel when they feel like they have been caught! This can be a big help in the rehab of people learning how to walk again. So many ways to use this

The running in spot on a movable platform definitely won't be quiet, you can see how it bend and wobbles under foot.. That arm wont be quiet either. This would make its use in a apartment difficult unless you hate your neighbors.
