Leaving the wetlands of La Fort Sur Sevre we travel further south in France to find a much needed spell of dry weather at Mimizan.
Rain at first but then we experience some of the most breathtaking coastline we've ever seen; The Bay Of Biscay. Roaring sea waves and golden sand that goes on for miles.

As someone who is originaly from Mimizan and now living in the UK, I would definitely recommend coming back in between June and September to appreciate the town. It is very lovely with daily indoors market, weekly outdoor one, beautiful weather and lots to eat and drink. If/when you go back, should try to drive to Lespecier (still in Mimizan, just a bit out) and truly witness how wild and untouched the area can get. Great walks for the dog too 😊

My goodness! Beautiful location! This area, with its tall pine trees and long, flat sandy beach, looks just like the SE USA. There are/were tall pine forests from East Texas all the way to the Atlantic seaboard, including Northern Florida. And, you no doubt would be able to find beer, crepes, surf & nick-nack shops! 😉 Looking forward to more of your travel.

Hi Steve and Wendy, my you did get a lot of rain, the walk to the village was a nice 15 minutes walk. Nice shops and the pastries and bread looked yummy. The sea and beach looked stunning. A pleasant stop over for a couple of days x Julie and Tony x

Hi, we're playing catch up on your vids and hoping to find some good info for our return to the UK from Spain towards the end of Feb, up through France and across from Caen to Portsmouth. When we worked in the Loire Valley we saw the water level markers up the sides of the valleys and they have had some unbelievable volumes of water in the past.

Steve, been watching your motor home blogs before you settled in a canal boat. In your recent motor home blogs I think you've put on weight. Better go easy on processed flour products like bread and pastries which contain huge amount of sugar. Avoid confronting a big cardio vascular event. And switch to peppermint tea unlike popular English tea; tastes much better and has health benefits. That storm from the Atlantic is hitting Dublin at this time.
