Too Short spoke to VladTV about his rivalry with MC Hammer when they were both coming up in Oakland, and he explained that things never got serious between them. Too Short also addressed MC Serch's claims that Hammer put out a hit on 3rd Bass, and he believes that Hammer wouldn't have to pay anyone to do anything to someone he had beef with.

@@wildsidetv313 Vanilla Ice too. Grew up in a broken home where he was beaten a lot, ran away at age 15 to South Florida, where he dealt drugs to survive. Ice Ice Baby was an autobiographical account of escaping a shootout that he was involved in while in South Florida. Later when he moved back to Dallas (and lived out of his car for a long time) he GOT stabbed (10 times) in a drug related knife fight.
This is why Vanilla Ice didn't like to talk about his childhood years a lot and everybody assumed he was privileged until people actually went and dug up his arrest records. And the stuff he DID want to talk about, like his success in motocross, people falsely accused him of lying about.
Compare this to Ice Cube, who everybody thinks is hard and made ultra hard gangbanging rap, but had a stable homelife with a loving family growing up, never dealt drugs, never injured or killed anybody, etc. Talked about the AKs a lot, but never fired one off in anger. Never got shot or stabbed. Only ever got arrested for non-violent performance reasons for BS charges that were dropped.
That surprised Pikachu face that gets made when people realize Ice Cube was relatively privileged compared to Snow or Vanilla Ice...

This man is correct, and I didn't know MC on the street. I met him in early 84, I was assigned to work with him for a short time. We had many conversations, revolving around music, and where we were from. Everything I got to say about him is positive. He was an extremely sincere man back then, and through the many interviews I've watched with him, he ain't changed. Meaning, he's sincere, genuine, filled with integrity, and definitely loves his hometown, Oaktown. Everything I say is 100%. He'd tell me, almost every night, one day he was going to be famous, and I'll admit, I doubted him. I doubted him because I knew him by his last name and he wore a sailor uniform like I did. However, this man did not stop, what I mean is every single night he came in with some kind of dance move and I won't really go on about that here. Don't know if anyone cares. But what I would like to say, is that when he told me he was going to make it big, he didn't say stuff like he was going to buy cars and houses and stuff like that, he told me he was going to bring everybody with him, all the guys he know on the streets, their families, he was going to take care of them. He wanted to give so much back into 'Oaktown', and even included the Bay Area in general. He was so passionate about his town and his friends and making a career, why would anybody want to say anything negative to the man? I'll tell you, he never came across as a pushover. Strangely, there's a whole other story on how I learned that he was MC Hammer! You see, when I transferred out of his unit and into another unit, we went overseas and I never saw Burrell again. Until many years later, I see a guy on TV who looks very familiar to me, but couldn't place his name, eventually I did, and tripped me out. Still does to this day, obviously.
Anyhow I won't go on about that story here, I've written way more than anyone would care to read. If anyone's made it thus far thank you very much, this man will always be on top as far as I'm concerned, he busted his ass every time I saw him, he deserves all the praise, because he earned it, nothing was handed to this man as far as I know! Hugs and respect to The MC!
I got here somehow from a Twitter trend, but this was a cool story to read at 4am.
I was invested in your story, I wish you shared more. Thanks for that.
@@HETFIELD Thank you, all truth!
@@boetr7014 Thank you!
I'll have to re-read what I wrote above, dunno if I mentioned how I found out that MC Hammer was Stanley Burrell.
I wrote a lot of stuff above, so I figured people would be putting me down for writing so much, but I'm glad you enjoy it. I still trip out a little bit about it all. What are the chances?
He really was a phenomenal guy.
Unfortunately back then, as you know, there was no Google so a lot of the things that Burrell told me I kind of called him on it, not really believing in the stories he was telling me, like being with the Oakland A's, and things like that which, as we know now, was all truth.
I like reading, thanks for sharing the story, you can't get stuff like that anywhere except from the sources of it that were there. 🤙🏼

Hammer is a legend and extremely under appreciated. People clown and say he 'sold out' when that was far from the truth. Hammer employed fed and helped people from his community at the expense of him filing bankrupcy (which to clear up is not the same as being broke!!) Hammer never sold out and was reputable at a young age and still is!! Our team was all ex-military, and Hammer told us about how he used to smash Air Force girls in Okinawa, when he was in the Navy. Funny Brother. Real as can be. Good man. Along with the late, Eazy-E, the best entertainer I ever worked for. I worked for Too Short, too. He was cool, but I didn't spend time around him. People clowned Hammer saying he was a "sell-out," "not a real rapper," and "commercializing hip-hop ." Yet, in the last 25 years, name a mainstream rapper who hasn't done it or tried to do it.
The problem was Hammer never tried to make real street music. He always made poppy commercial music, and back in that era that was a big no-no. Cube at least held it together for a good 18 years before he started getting softer around the edges.

Beyond the talented people in the forefront are the intellectuals and warriors. Some are either, while many are both. Like Spice1 Triggaz Got No Heart, it told the story similar to what Short wanted to say in the interview. The 80s and 90s provided the exposure yet never the whole story. Enough to keep you conscious. Hammer was one of my favorites. He mastered his craft. Big Up to the Black Kings and Queens of Oakland 👑👑💯

Hammer was a pioneer for what these dudes doing today. Hammer had a cartoon, that crazy ass Taco Bell commercial etc. He was really balling. Hammer w as dancing early on but he was more harder around Feel My power and Hammer don't hurt em w/disses to LL and of all ppl Run DMC which was UNHEARD of at the time and the nerve of Hammer to do so. Living in Oakland from the 70's thru the crack wars (85-98), Short is right. When i was in the Marines (86-90) , people used to laugh at Hammer, especially the East Coast brothers, saying that he was just a fad, but never really said much about Short. Lol!!!!!
Exactly.
Watching this again, I have to say that I'm glad that he brought up the point a MC Hammer wouldn't have had to pay anybody to fuck 3rd Base up. I mean being honest, back in them days Hammer could have told me to sock Serch in the mouth and I would have did it. Simply from he being for my city 😂
I’ve always been a fan of too short ,hammer , snoop ,ice t all them guys on the west coast,I’m from Philadelphia and their music hit us out here. Much love gentlemen
$hort Dog in da house! It's good to see your still pimpin'. I remember bumpin' your "Life Is... Too $hort". Mixed up with some Spice 1. Good times. Cali. Pimpin'.

Too Shorts a cool guy. Honest, willing to admit fault. Legendary flow too.

Make Short Dog a regular Vlad
Moral of the story is- Never judge a book by its cover😉
“His people would just do it, We from Oakland” Too Short
He ain’t lying, I’m not from Oakland but I live only an hour away from Oakland and Oakland don’t mess around. Oakland doesn’t care if you are famous or not either.
Hammer reminds me of that nerd in school who everyone talks shit about and tries to step to....only to realize they have a 5th degree black belt in ninjutsu!
