It took me a week of trying, but I finally managed to get it across the river and tamed. This is not for the faint of heart. It takes 20-30 minutes just to get set up. You will make mistakes and have to start over, but if you learn from your mistakes you can tame this beautiful horse in chapter 2. Best advice I can give is take it slow and use photo mode to track the horse and plan your route to it. On my successful attempt. I actually lost track of it right before the river crossing, but slowly made my way forward using photo mode as I went to regain its position and drive it across the river. GREAT VIDEO!
Also bring some food to fortify your stamina core and some bitters to help with taming. I forgot to use mine the first time I drove it across the river and it eventually cost me what would have been a successful attempt.
My God, just when I think the madness is over, I get lured back in. I have done everything as Arthur except the legendary fishing in New Austin. The Tiger Striped Mustang is my favorite horse of all time, so, I am in chpt 3, trying to advance enough to get the horse fence so I can get the Legend of the East outfit, because I need new clothes to head back in and get MY HORSE! Made 5 tries today, made it to the river once but he ran down stream instead of crossing then I hit a rock and died. So frustrating... I will be great when I get it. Thanks again for the video @regina77phalange
@@Richtofen-gy9cj indeed it is. Definitely use my route and keep track of it tightly. After certain hours of fail, you will be very familiar with the landscape and all the possible situations. I've got tons of fails myself😂
I struggled for almost 10 hours to get this horse as Arthur a few years ago. I failed in the end. I'm starting Red Dead Redemption 2 again ,I'll refer to this video later. Thanks for the great video!
Well I tried this for days now and still I couldn't finish it. The hardest part (for me) is herding the horse to Waterfall, as you can see the area around is so steep (7:48). I still trying now as I comment this video, because you know it's hard to stop trying when you almost got the Tiger Striped Mustang several times.. Great video regina_phalange! Thank you for the amazing video! I recently jumped back into the game and always wanted to get this horse for Arthur Have finally done it after countless tries! I would also suggest to use Chick Matthews mission, that way you won’t have to worry about Pinkertond at all!
That was epic! You really drove/herded the horse from New Austin to West Elizabeth using the buggy! Btw, maybe you could have outrun the Pinkertons, BUT it could cost you several Health Tonics until you reached a safe zone. Talking by experience from Horseman Challenge #9.
i’ve been using the horse for a month, i love it best horse in the game. its so beautiful. when i was taming the horse it started swimming and going deep in the water and i was terrified of the sniper turning back on😭. thankfully it didn’t happen and i got her back safely to the mainland near strawberry and rode her to valentine to saddle up. Named her Ophelia.
FINALLY! AFTER A TON OF TRIES! Regina you are the Goat! Stage 4 was the hardest part to figure out for me. You have to herd it in between McFarland ranch and the countoured terrain to the right of the ranch. If you let the horse get to the right of that countoured terrain, your done for. Again, appreciate the work you put in! Only suggestions I have are to clear up the end of stage 4, as the video quality is poor.
Am able to get it out of the Armadillo area and around the area of McFarlane Ranch. And doing it during Honest Snake Oil mission, so no worries about Pinkies. But, man, getting it to go where I want is a huge effort. What is helpful is that it tends to run most of the time in a straight line, so very predictable. Using camera mode is a huge help whenever it gets out of sight. On my tenth try. Will have another go 😂 The prize at the end is worth it. Thanks again, brother.

@@regina77phalangeMan! This is laughable. I actually got it to cross the river. Amazingly, it went and stood beside my Raven Black Shire which I had tethered on the Blackwater side of the river while I went over to NA to herd the Mustang. I lost sight of it as I neared the river and had to get off a cliff-like terrain to try to pick up its trail again. Then I looked across the river and there it was standing beside Brutus. I was pleasantly surprised. I should have paused the game at that point and gathered myself together. When I crossed the river I cut the buggy horse loose, jumped on it and went after the Mustang. My plan was to ride close to it then jump on it (i forgot this was not the wild Foxtrotter). I forgot that I could lasso it and break it. As I chased after it, it crossed the bridge going back to New Austin. It was at that point I realized I could lasso it. But too late. I was at an angle to the bridge on the Greatplains side. I lassoed it but the momentum pulled the poor horse off the high bridge and into the water. It did not survive the fall. A great disappointment after numerous tries, but this attempt was quite a rush. Will give another try after I regroup. Stay tuned 😂
@@riccouchman5604 happened to me before. It went back and for me that time, it just went too fast and vanished in the big open space. When we were not on buggy, it is too fast to tail. Nowhere to find it🥲But you are so close, brother. I will stay tuned and wait for your exciting news🤠
Whew, this takes a while. Gotta be steady in New Austin, do not rush. You'll regret not taking your time and having to go all the way back for another buggy, going fast does not save you time trust me! So I started chapter 2 and did Polite Society Valentine Style and Exit Pursued by Ego. (also got Hoseas Rolling Block) After those 2 missions I took Benedict Albrights bounty, Good Honest Snake Oil. Left the sheriff and went to St Denis, got buggy. I feel like when I got a ten dollar bounty for vehicle theft the invisible Austin man either took my horse down or lit it up with the lantern fire. Could have been chance. Anyway, the bounty mission takes care of Pinkertons so its just the invisible Austin man to worry about. The first little slope exiting Del Lobo is tricky like the video says. The only other problem I had was getting it on the long curved road that wraps around Mescalero. Man that was rough with the random NPCs messing things up. Just keep your original horse alive and do not abandoned it so that you don't fail the bounty mission. If you fail the bounty mission you will lose the mustang when the mission restarts! I named her Oizys. Took about 13 hours get this. Be sure to make plenty of extra saves for future games after you succeed. Thanks for the guide man. This is actually the coolest glitch I have seen. You can stomp on Gators with this bad boy. In chapter 2, insane!
Works but getting him out of phase 1 on to phase 2 this pain in ass will not turn to get away from the area. He will run the wall and move back to 1 again.
You actually dont have to do Hosea’s hunting mission. If you kill the horse you get in chapter 1 and pick up the saddle, you unlock the stables. This works for xbox but unsure about pc, though I’m fairly positive it does on all versions
Works on all platforms. Actually, the point of doing Hosea's mission is to unlock all the special wild horses like this one. Even if you unlock stables early like killing your first horse, the white Arabian and this one don't spawn😀
Thx dude for video guide eventhough i still need 12 hours to succesfully making the horse out of new austin but after the horse is in black water my white arabian out of whisling and i am chasing the horse untill pinkerton apeared, isn't f*** amazing? Now im done at least i already know the technique just need little bit more patient because before im stuck in phase 2 the horse wont move foward bc of there is npc foward and sand strom so when the horse turn back i just lose it because poor visibility.
I made it all the way south of mcfarlanes ranch, then the mustang started running mad everywhere, i somehow drove it down the giant canyon path, my cart hit a pebble bounced a foot and i got shot in the head i was so close
Amazing. But I won't try cause I don't really like that specific horse and it's too much work, but after you tame it, can't you just throw a camp and fast travel rather than die?
I’ve probably tried this at least 20 times now, it’s so frustrating. I can’t get the horse to cross the river. One time he was on the waters edge and instead of crossing he just bolted back behind me and I got spotted by Pinkertons….
Im doing this method right now and I got half way phase three then I accidentally jumped of the buggy. Gahhhh. Each attempt I get closer and closer. Hopefully I can get my dream horse in the next few attempts.
just killed the cougar then went to go shoot the guy for the map, i got the map but then pinkerton spawned on me and the buggy ran and i got got sniped while looting but i still got the map :P. time for this horse then finish the map then turtle trinket.
Thank you, it works! After this challenge, herbalist 9, dinosaur bones, hunting hats and NA legendary animals feels like a walk in the park. I am done with Mustang, Arthur won’t returning to NA ever. Except for Otis Miller Revolver, I guess Tips for anyone that keeps dying, focus your left eye on the wagon and right eye to the horse. Also you can’t fast travel with temporary horse. You can set up camp but can’t fast travel.
Yes I got it, took me days. I checked the route with John, trained herding horses in heartlands, and watch other video to see their pace. This route is straightforward except the river opening is narrow and uneven. Easier if you have chick Matthew’s mission available. I went slow and stop to push the horse slowly. Good luck if you’re still trying!
Got it again in my NG+ walk trough. Now I got Buell and Tiger Mustang I named him Toretto. Maybe some tips for ppl that are still struggling, start from Saint Denis at 4-5 Pm so you’ll arrive at Rio in the morning. This time I use chick matthews mission so I can use the easy exit point. Worth noting that herding it to rocky area in phase 3 is important the road is more open and save you trouble herding him to climb. You deserve more sub your works are excellent

i was on my 10-15th try (4th if we only count actually getting to the horse succesfully) i was following the exact tutorial steps even when the horse changed its direction i still managed to get it to move up the mountain but then i drove past the weird lady on the tree and the horse literally vanished…idk if the npc triggered something??? i also lost the ability to turn on focus mode idk maybe i just lost the horse naturally but i looked around and it was nowhere near me…so that pissed me off in a major way because i failed so many times because of my own stupidity and when i was SO close to passing the new austin borders the game fucked it up for me…and of course in my rage i switched the camera and was shot on the spot…so now having to go to saint denis and then all the way to fort riggs again is just UGH. sorry for venting. i feel like quitting but i’m probably gonna have another go this evening lol.
About the lady, never met it before. About the rage, been there before so many times. Sometimes I almost smash controller, lol. But later, you find out this kind of job needs some patience. Once you get the hang of it, you succeed almost every time. I would suggest don't get too fixated on it. Give yourself a break. Sometimes you lost sight, don't rush to retry. Can run around a bit. Since it shouldn't go too far. You are close, dude. I'm sure you can get it in the end😀
How did you get to areas that are not even on the map? and how did you get that buggy, steal it? It starts already at a point that maps dont show. thanks
I have a question, ive tried this about 20 times now. The first 10 times the mustang was always by the big rock on rio del lobo but the last 5 times it just has not spawned. Theres a bunch of wild horses and a normal brown mustang but not the tiger striped. One time i almost herded a normal brown mustang all the way to the end before i realized it was the wrong horse lol. Did you ever have this problem? How did you fix it?
Oh my god i just did it!! Thank you so much!! The mustang is my favourite horse breed look wise in this game but i didnt want to run the grey one because its so common. You have no idea how awesome this is for me!!! Right at the start of chapter 2 as well! I have an entire playthrough to look forward to with this beauty now!
I found that horse in chapter 5, in the poor sain5 Denis stable which really spawns many types of horses like the turkoman horse too a gold one lol. Every time I look at that stable, it pops up a damn unique horse that is epic with speed and is beautiful. My turkoman horse gives lots of attention and I love it it is very good horse. I sold all my Arabians to keep the tiger one cause I knew it was very unique and rare without looking that info up and anyway I love different style coat patterns of anything so on horses I look for coat design patterns and once I saw the tiger horse I just said well I think I'm getting what benefits me more. The reverse nokota i found in saint denis too is the faster then even the Arabian horse but I wonder with the turkoman horse if it's faster or the turk. I just know I have two good damn good horses and two other second horses the tiger and the appoloosa spotted horse with good speed that I love. I have great horses. I don't even want to look in that saint denis stable anymore cause I know I'll see a bad ass horse and want to keep it and I don't want to decide what horse to rid. I wish we had at least 5 stables that would be nice. If y'all want a good epic horse go to saint denis small outside stable that spawns only two horses at a time to see your favorite horses. Just visit every time you can and you might be astonished like me 😂
Same here!! Lol 😂!! The last time the horse got across, but Pinkertons spowned and killed me!!! The best place is the waterfall!! One time, the horse escaped out of the map, up mcf ranch!! How is this for a joke!!!! She literally walked out of the map!!!! I think the marker even helps the horse to that point. Am I right??
I had Pinkertons kill me twice when the horse crosses here. It's because I initially entered New Austin without a wanted level. This makes the random Pinkertons in New Austin disappear but spawns Pinkertons immediately wherever you try to exit. When I entered New Austin with the wanted sign flashing I succeeded. I also noticed I had the odd Pinkerton patrolling New Austin but no Pinkertons appeared when the mustang crossed at the waterfall exit. Thanks Regina! That was the toughest one I think.
ok newbie question... im going for my second playthrough off the game and first time will try the buggy method, so: there's no chance some cops chase you with the buggy? or you simply evade then? cause in chapter two i managed to go half way thru new austin without the sniper even start shooting, but the cops chased me hard hope you understand the question, bad english
Bravo, sir. Can you make a video showing the route to get on top of Del Lobo Rock while avoiding lawmen, or is it unnecessary? I’ve never tried the buggy exploit.
I am thinking if you approach the horse from that side, then you may have to drive the horse to Fort Mercer, which will be open land and it will be more dangerous and time-consuming for this job. I have tried that route many times, too. I would suggest you drive it down Del Lobo Rock rather than the other way around😄
You could explain where you got the buggy, how you got down to the starting place when its not even on the map. Is this RDR2? None of those places are on my map.
Exactly. If the wild special horses die like this one, they will respawn after several days in game. All the horses in Arthur's era are gone so John can ride all of them in his era😀
I even got John two of em in the epilogue!! I herded first one up to beachers hope, and hitch it to the post before bonding. Then few days later, went back to del lobo rock, and there it was, another stripped mustang!!
You steal a wagon? you save a game? thats something someone should put in a real guide, that shows the map and everything. This one starts already at the horse with no explanation of where he got the wagon, where to make a save, how to get to the first point when its not on the map. Someone must have a complete guide out there somewhere.
Every time, in the last part, when I try to cross the river back with the mustang at the point in the video, near the waterfall, pinkertons appear on the rocks on the other side of the river. Every time, they are there, which makes crossing impossible. Is there still any way to get across without them showing up?
Did you check my phase4, the last phase? If you herd the horse in the narrow red(pink) strip of land on your minimap, there won't be pinkertons spawning
@@regina77phalange Yes. I'm trying to cross right at the red dot mark, but as I go down to cross the river, pinkertons appear on the rocks on the other side. they appear as soon as I approach the river to cross! They're spawning before i cross. I'll keep trying! Thanks.
@@stellios5131 Before seeing a lot of them spawning, is it like you see a single patrolling one near? If that's the case, avoid that one first. That area near the boarder is the fixed patrolling route of single pinkerton and he can ruin all this. You can speed up or take the side paths to let him disappear
@@regina77phalange No. They do not appear on the map. The agents just appear on the other side of the river in West Elizabeth as I approach to cross it. In New Austin i avoided all the ones that appeared individually, but those from the opposite side of the river in West Elizabeth, they simply appear, as soon as I arrive to cross. I'm here all night and every time that i take the horse to the red point to cross, they spot me from the other side. It's been painful, but I still believe it will work out at some point. Maybe rockstar did something to make the crossing impossible... I don't know! I did everything possible in chapter 2 in new austin with arthur.. even catching the legendary fish.. This mustang is the last part... By the way, thanks for your answers. Your videos are very good brother!
@@stellios5131 Did you cross at the little fall at the boarder? Cause when I do it there, I kinda corner the horse so it only runs slowly in that area and there shouldn't be pinkertons waiting for you at the side. At this point, I really don't think the developers are still patching things up
@regina_phalange question is there supposed to be a specific angle to hold your camera in? It always feels like the joystick keeps moving the camera angle leading me to get shot. And is it possible to do this in first person? Tried about 3 times today, this one is definitely tough to do

A save doesn't work although you can set up a camp in New Austin. If you save that game immediately and load, you will appear in New Austin. That method is good for some of the New Austin items. But for this one and the ones that need a buggy, a save doesn't work. That's why when I first tried the New Austin items, I die millions of times. But now, I get the hang of it and don't get shot easily
@@regina77phalange thanks for the info. I failed once last night and tried one more time but when I got to the horse spawn point it wasn’t there! Maybe I needed to wait an in game day or two for it to respawn but that was frustrating. Ended up just driving off the cliff nearby and calling it a night😅
@@ZayZayZayZay Definitely have a save file before trying these things. When you fail, just reload. It will save you some time. But I have to say, the whole thing can take a lot of time and patience
I got all the way to the waterfall and he took a hard left out of nowhere and went up a hill. When I tried to cut him off my horse just sort of fell over when going up the hill and that was it...... SO CLOSE!. I can feel it I'll get him soon
this is a good point. I think you are right. We have other ways to make it your temporary horse. I bring it because saddling it is the fastest way. You can try it I think. The method is the same. I didn't show it in my video but if you make it your main horse, you can set up a camp and fast travel back to main land
If the mustang is only a temporary horse, not your main, then it won't follow you out when you die/save-load/camp. It will stay in Tall Trees and be too far to whistle out. You would have to ride it back to safety or go back and get it later.
Guy i need you’re help. I died also at the end, and now the mustang doesn’t want to spawn. It was there for 3 hours. Is there a specific time or weather to spawn? Plz help me.
Please save the game before trying things like this since when we lost it, it would take several in-game days for it to respawn. So whenever you try some of my "method videos", definitely save game before
🤯 this horse is making me crazy. Most of the time it ran off the course I wanted it too 😳. I think I stop 1st for now because I fail straight alot times, those pinkerton patrols always pops out out of no where near the path canyon to armadillo 😅
Really don't want to try this in one go. I remember trying 1 or 2 times a day in that period and it took me weeks to find this method and record this video😂Yes, that is their stable patrolling route. I consider to make a video of all the single riding pinkertons and their fixed route.
@@regina77phalange I tried to avoid that armadillo route but heck that mustang got mind of its own, it just turn 180 degree go back to where it come from 🤯. There a clear window if I wanna use that route as a guide but its very small window b4 the patrol poofing came out. Yup you right dude, Cant do this straight, this challenge is something else, like you said it takes you weeks to make this path for that mustang so u can tame it. I think I'm gonna do other stuff for now like getting those trinkits at new austin. Among all games since Fallout 4, this game really got tons to offer 😅.
@@chrishee6592 The Armadillo slope uphill is by far the only route I find practical. Once tried in the valley in Hennigen? Not too sure about the place's name. Has so many narrow winding roads. One of the Dino bone place. Doesn't work. Totally agree with you dude. The game still has got a lot😄

Well buggy wheel busted is ok, but the uneven land is the thing making you go crazy, some just a slight change of position of the buggy screw the camera angle then you died 🤣. Urghh too many man, ngl. Last night I discover we can pick herbs a new austin abit easy. Like you know the area with dessert sage? Never knew beside it got blackcurrant tree nearby. So save more time and left just to pick the purple flower. 🥴. And I messed up the explosive slug pamplet. All because that stupid repeater express bullet box wont let me pick the pamplet, end up died because I need to shot to reduce the ammo at the back of the buggy 🤣
@@chrishee6592 Yes, Hennigan's Stead near the word Hennigan on the map, near McFarlan's Ranch. That route is impossible for both the horse and the buggy. That Armadillo pinkerton spawns from the west of Armadillo and crosses Armadillo and rides up the slope. I will use some time to figure out their routes. To my knowledge so far, there should be 5 or 6 spawning locations of these pinkertons and they follow their fixed route😄
Does the horse always spawn there...a few runs and i didn't see it. Last run i got to phase 2 and lost it. Will update when i finally get it. Thanks so much
Have to come back and kill so many pinkertons for it😆so I suggest once you get the Tiger Mustang, you should set up a camp to fast travel back to safer land
Before you attempt this, you will be wise to consider the pros and cons of this method. The purpose of this comment is to help with exactly that! Pros: -You get a high end coat for the mustang multi-class horse with impressive stats. It also looks relatively nice. Cons: ... -Saint Denis is the only place to get the required buggy. It and Rio Bravo are on basically opposite sides of the entire map. This is a LOT of time to be spending preparing a horse delivery for taming outside of new austin territory. -You are stuck with the sniper on you, that will kill you in ONE HIT. -The horse cannot be herded reliably. It having a mind of its own aside, other npcs with vehicles and mounts of their own WILL scare your horse away. -The horse is NOT predictable. This means it can even throw itself off a cliff to instantly die, thus negating all your progress AGAIN! -The number of hits required for the sniper to kill you is no more than one and it's not able to miss. it CAN be blocked, but it doesn't miss besides the first few "warning shots". -Aggravated NPCs can destroy the buggy. -If the player is hit once by the sniper, its an game over then and there. -The horse can despawn. Especially when you least expect. -The buggy can get destroyed if you stop at steep terrain.
@@regina77phalange Funny you say that. Given Arthur's hair color matching and the 8/10 for both stamina and health, I got a feeling I will very much be a fan of it. To make room for this mustang I sold the hungarian halfbred I snatched from Benedict Albright and I loved that horse a lot! TL;DR for below: Rockstar bad! This method is garbage too and its a tragedy its the only way to get the horse in chapter 2. With all said and done... I can't agree that was a good challenge. It actually managed to ruin the game for me. It wouldn't have been that way if the time to recover from a fail was short, but rockstar, the same morons who approved the camera mounted turret, gave the player no means of saving a vehicle! Yes, there should be such a thing, given the wagon fence brings in the "grand theft wagon" aspect into this game.
Want to make it my main horse in Blackwater so you can set up a camp and go back to safe lands. But in the video, I was too excited to do that. In the video, this horse follows me back in the safer lands after I die since it is my main horse
It is the case that the shot begins when you are wading the water. The middle point of the river is a changing point. When you leave New Austin for Blackwater(tall tree area), after the middle point of the river (middle point of the crossing part), there is no shot any more.

literally hundreds of times of dying and failing in the beginning, lol. Now I've got the hang of it. Cannot guarantee for every trip but close to that. Should be able to get the horse at least 1 time for every 2 times trying😁.
@Scottie4twenty it has an extra plus 1 in every stat compared to regular mustangs. 8 health and stamina 7 speed 5 acceleration. It's not bad by any means but I'd rather use the fox trotter Ardennes and Dutch warmbloods you can get in chapter 2

Its easy to get in chapter 4 during the cemetery mission with bronte. You can just ride all the way there and grab it
Well I tried this for days now and still I couldn't finish it. The hardest part (for me) is herding the horse to Waterfall, as you can see the area around is so steep (7:48). I still trying now as I comment this video, because you know it's hard to stop trying when you almost got the Tiger Striped Mustang several times.. Great video regina_phalange! i’ve been using the horse for a month, i love it best horse in the game. its so beautiful. when i was taming the horse it started swimming and going deep in the water and i was terrified of the sniper turning back on😭. thankfully it didn’t happen and i got her back safely to the mainland near strawberry and rode her to valentine to saddle up. Named her Ophelia.

Stage 4 was the hardest part to figure out for me. You have to herd it in between McFarland ranch and the countoured terrain to the right of the ranch. If you let the horse get to the right of that countoured terrain, your done for.
Again, appreciate the work you put in! Only suggestions I have are to clear up the end of stage 4, as the video quality is poor.
Am able to get it out of the Armadillo area and around the area of McFarlane Ranch. And doing it during Honest Snake Oil mission, so no worries about Pinkies. But, man, getting it to go where I want is a huge effort. What is helpful is that it tends to run most of the time in a straight line, so very predictable. Using camera mode is a huge help whenever it gets out of sight. On my tenth try. Will have another go 😂 The prize at the end is worth it. Thanks again, brother.

@@regina77phalangeMan! This is laughable. I actually got it to cross the river. Amazingly, it went and stood beside my Raven Black Shire which I had tethered on the Blackwater side of the river while I went over to NA to herd the Mustang. I lost sight of it as I neared the river and had to get off a cliff-like terrain to try to pick up its trail again. Then I looked across the river and there it was standing beside Brutus. I was pleasantly surprised. I should have paused the game at that point and gathered myself together. When I crossed the river I cut the buggy horse loose, jumped on it and went after the Mustang. My plan was to ride close to it then jump on it (i forgot this was not the wild Foxtrotter). I forgot that I could lasso it and break it. As I chased after it, it crossed the bridge going back to New Austin. It was at that point I realized I could lasso it. But too late. I was at an angle to the bridge on the Greatplains side. I lassoed it but the momentum pulled the poor horse off the high bridge and into the water. It did not survive the fall. A great disappointment after numerous tries, but this attempt was quite a rush. Will give another try after I regroup. Stay tuned 😂
@@riccouchman5604 happened to me before. It went back and for me that time, it just went too fast and vanished in the big open space. When we were not on buggy, it is too fast to tail. Nowhere to find it🥲But you are so close, brother. I will stay tuned and wait for your exciting news🤠
Whew, this takes a while. Gotta be steady in New Austin, do not rush. You'll regret not taking your time and having to go all the way back for another buggy, going fast does not save you time trust me!
So I started chapter 2 and did Polite Society Valentine Style and Exit Pursued by Ego. (also got Hoseas Rolling Block)
After those 2 missions I took Benedict Albrights bounty, Good Honest Snake Oil. Left the sheriff and went to St Denis, got buggy.
I feel like when I got a ten dollar bounty for vehicle theft the invisible Austin man either took my horse down or lit it up with the lantern fire. Could have been chance.
Anyway, the bounty mission takes care of Pinkertons so its just the invisible Austin man to worry about.
The first little slope exiting Del Lobo is tricky like the video says.
The only other problem I had was getting it on the long curved road that wraps around Mescalero. Man that was rough with the random NPCs messing things up.
Just keep your original horse alive and do not abandoned it so that you don't fail the bounty mission. If you fail the bounty mission you will lose the mustang when the mission restarts!
I named her Oizys. Took about 13 hours get this.
Be sure to make plenty of extra saves for future games after you succeed.

You actually dont have to do Hosea’s hunting mission. If you kill the horse you get in chapter 1 and pick up the saddle, you unlock the stables. This works for xbox but unsure about pc, though I’m fairly positive it does on all versions
Works on all platforms. Actually, the point of doing Hosea's mission is to unlock all the special wild horses like this one. Even if you unlock stables early like killing your first horse, the white Arabian and this one don't spawn😀

Thx dude for video guide eventhough i still need 12 hours to succesfully making the horse out of new austin but after the horse is in black water my white arabian out of whisling and i am chasing the horse untill pinkerton apeared, isn't f*** amazing? Now im done at least i already know the technique just need little bit more patient because before im stuck in phase 2 the horse wont move foward bc of there is npc foward and sand strom so when the horse turn back i just lose it because poor visibility.

I made it all the way south of mcfarlanes ranch, then the mustang started running mad everywhere, i somehow drove it down the giant canyon path, my cart hit a pebble bounced a foot and i got shot in the head i was so close

Im doing this method right now and I got half way phase three then I accidentally jumped of the buggy. Gahhhh. Each attempt I get closer and closer. Hopefully I can get my dream horse in the next few attempts.

just killed the cougar then went to go shoot the guy for the map, i got the map but then pinkerton spawned on me and the buggy ran and i got got sniped while looting but i still got the map :P. time for this horse then finish the map then turtle trinket.

Tips for anyone that keeps dying, focus your left eye on the wagon and right eye to the horse. Also you can’t fast travel with temporary horse. You can set up camp but can’t fast travel.

Yes I got it, took me days. I checked the route with John, trained herding horses in heartlands, and watch other video to see their pace.
This route is straightforward except the river opening is narrow and uneven. Easier if you have chick Matthew’s mission available. I went slow and stop to push the horse slowly. Good luck if you’re still trying!
Got it again in my NG+ walk trough. Now I got Buell and Tiger Mustang I named him Toretto.
Maybe some tips for ppl that are still struggling, start from Saint Denis at 4-5 Pm so you’ll arrive at Rio in the morning. This time I use chick matthews mission so I can use the easy exit point. Worth noting that herding it to rocky area in phase 3 is important the road is more open and save you trouble herding him to climb. You deserve more sub your works are excellent

i was on my 10-15th try (4th if we only count actually getting to the horse succesfully) i was following the exact tutorial steps even when the horse changed its direction i still managed to get it to move up the mountain but then i drove past the weird lady on the tree and the horse literally vanished…idk if the npc triggered something??? i also lost the ability to turn on focus mode idk maybe i just lost the horse naturally but i looked around and it was nowhere near me…so that pissed me off in a major way because i failed so many times because of my own stupidity and when i was SO close to passing the new austin borders the game fucked it up for me…and of course in my rage i switched the camera and was shot on the spot…so now having to go to saint denis and then all the way to fort riggs again is just UGH. sorry for venting. i feel like quitting but i’m probably gonna have another go this evening lol.
About the lady, never met it before. About the rage, been there before so many times. Sometimes I almost smash controller, lol. But later, you find out this kind of job needs some patience. Once you get the hang of it, you succeed almost every time. I would suggest don't get too fixated on it. Give yourself a break. Sometimes you lost sight, don't rush to retry. Can run around a bit. Since it shouldn't go too far. You are close, dude. I'm sure you can get it in the end😀

I have a question, ive tried this about 20 times now. The first 10 times the mustang was always by the big rock on rio del lobo but the last 5 times it just has not spawned. Theres a bunch of wild horses and a normal brown mustang but not the tiger striped. One time i almost herded a normal brown mustang all the way to the end before i realized it was the wrong horse lol.

Oh my god i just did it!! Thank you so much!! The mustang is my favourite horse breed look wise in this game but i didnt want to run the grey one because its so common. You have no idea how awesome this is for me!!! Right at the start of chapter 2 as well! I have an entire playthrough to look forward to with this beauty now!

The invisible sniper that can shoot across the entire map is complete horse shite...........pun absolutely intended.
I found that horse in chapter 5, in the poor sain5 Denis stable which really spawns many types of horses like the turkoman horse too a gold one lol. Every time I look at that stable, it pops up a damn unique horse that is epic with speed and is beautiful. My turkoman horse gives lots of attention and I love it it is very good horse. I sold all my Arabians to keep the tiger one cause I knew it was very unique and rare without looking that info up and anyway I love different style coat patterns of anything so on horses I look for coat design patterns and once I saw the tiger horse I just said well I think I'm getting what benefits me more. The reverse nokota i found in saint denis too is the faster then even the Arabian horse but I wonder with the turkoman horse if it's faster or the turk. I just know I have two good damn good horses and two other second horses the tiger and the appoloosa spotted horse with good speed that I love. I have great horses. I don't even want to look in that saint denis stable anymore cause I know I'll see a bad ass horse and want to keep it and I don't want to decide what horse to rid. I wish we had at least 5 stables that would be nice. If y'all want a good epic horse go to saint denis small outside stable that spawns only two horses at a time to see your favorite horses. Just visit every time you can and you might be astonished like me 😂

I had Pinkertons kill me twice when the horse crosses here. It's because I initially entered New Austin without a wanted level. This makes the random Pinkertons in New Austin disappear but spawns Pinkertons immediately wherever you try to exit. When I entered New Austin with the wanted sign flashing I succeeded. I also noticed I had the odd Pinkerton patrolling New Austin but no Pinkertons appeared when the mustang crossed at the waterfall exit. Thanks Regina! That was the toughest one I think.
ok newbie question... im going for my second playthrough off the game and first time will try the buggy method, so: there's no chance some cops chase you with the buggy? or you simply evade then? cause in chapter two i managed to go half way thru new austin without the sniper even start shooting, but the cops chased me hard

Bravo, sir. Can you make a video showing the route to get on top of Del Lobo Rock while avoiding lawmen, or is it unnecessary? I’ve never tried the buggy exploit.
I am thinking if you approach the horse from that side, then you may have to drive the horse to Fort Mercer, which will be open land and it will be more dangerous and time-consuming for this job. I have tried that route many times, too. I would suggest you drive it down Del Lobo Rock rather than the other way around😄

Exactly. If the wild special horses die like this one, they will respawn after several days in game. All the horses in Arthur's era are gone so John can ride all of them in his era😀

I even got John two of em in the epilogue!! I herded first one up to beachers hope, and hitch it to the post before bonding. Then few days later, went back to del lobo rock, and there it was, another stripped mustang!!

Every time, in the last part, when I try to cross the river back with the mustang at the point in the video, near the waterfall, pinkertons appear on the rocks on the other side of the river. Every time, they are there, which makes crossing impossible. Is there still any way to get across without them showing up?
Did you check my phase4, the last phase? If you herd the horse in the narrow red(pink) strip of land on your minimap, there won't be pinkertons spawning

@@stellios5131 Before seeing a lot of them spawning, is it like you see a single patrolling one near? If that's the case, avoid that one first. That area near the boarder is the fixed patrolling route of single pinkerton and he can ruin all this. You can speed up or take the side paths to let him disappear
@@regina77phalange No. They do not appear on the map. The agents just appear on the other side of the river in West Elizabeth as I approach to cross it. In New Austin i avoided all the ones that appeared individually, but those from the opposite side of the river in West Elizabeth, they simply appear, as soon as I arrive to cross. I'm here all night and every time that i take the horse to the red point to cross, they spot me from the other side. It's been painful, but I still believe it will work out at some point. Maybe rockstar did something to make the crossing impossible... I don't know! I did everything possible in chapter 2 in new austin with arthur.. even catching the legendary fish.. This mustang is the last part... By the way, thanks for your answers. Your videos are very good brother!
@@stellios5131 Did you cross at the little fall at the boarder? Cause when I do it there, I kinda corner the horse so it only runs slowly in that area and there shouldn't be pinkertons waiting for you at the side. At this point, I really don't think the developers are still patching things up

how do you keep the rickert if you fail? Does a save work?
A save doesn't work although you can set up a camp in New Austin. If you save that game immediately and load, you will appear in New Austin. That method is good for some of the New Austin items. But for this one and the ones that need a buggy, a save doesn't work. That's why when I first tried the New Austin items, I die millions of times. But now, I get the hang of it and don't get shot easily

Ended up just driving off the cliff nearby and calling it a night😅

Do you absolutely have to bring your main horse? or can you just bond with it and saddle up later on main land ?
this is a good point. I think you are right. We have other ways to make it your temporary horse. I bring it because saddling it is the fastest way. You can try it I think. The method is the same. I didn't show it in my video but if you make it your main horse, you can set up a camp and fast travel back to main land
If the mustang is only a temporary horse, not your main, then it won't follow you out when you die/save-load/camp. It will stay in Tall Trees and be too far to whistle out. You would have to ride it back to safety or go back and get it later.

Please save the game before trying things like this since when we lost it, it would take several in-game days for it to respawn. So whenever you try some of my "method videos", definitely save game before
🤯 this horse is making me crazy. Most of the time it ran off the course I wanted it too 😳. I think I stop 1st for now because I fail straight alot times, those pinkerton patrols always pops out out of no where near the path canyon to armadillo 😅
Really don't want to try this in one go. I remember trying 1 or 2 times a day in that period and it took me weeks to find this method and record this video😂Yes, that is their stable patrolling route. I consider to make a video of all the single riding pinkertons and their fixed route.
@@regina77phalange I tried to avoid that armadillo route but heck that mustang got mind of its own, it just turn 180 degree go back to where it come from 🤯. There a clear window if I wanna use that route as a guide but its very small window b4 the patrol poofing came out. Yup you right dude, Cant do this straight, this challenge is something else, like you said it takes you weeks to make this path for that mustang so u can tame it. I think I'm gonna do other stuff for now like getting those trinkits at new austin. Among all games since Fallout 4, this game really got tons to offer 😅.
@@chrishee6592 The Armadillo slope uphill is by far the only route I find practical. Once tried in the valley in Hennigen? Not too sure about the place's name. Has so many narrow winding roads. One of the Dino bone place. Doesn't work. Totally agree with you dude. The game still has got a lot😄

Urghh too many man, ngl. Last night I discover we can pick herbs a new austin abit easy. Like you know the area with dessert sage? Never knew beside it got blackcurrant tree nearby. So save more time and left just to pick the purple flower. 🥴. And I messed up the explosive slug pamplet. All because that stupid repeater express bullet box wont let me pick the pamplet, end up died because I need to shot to reduce the ammo at the back of the buggy 🤣
@@chrishee6592 Yes, Hennigan's Stead near the word Hennigan on the map, near McFarlan's Ranch. That route is impossible for both the horse and the buggy. That Armadillo pinkerton spawns from the west of Armadillo and crosses Armadillo and rides up the slope. I will use some time to figure out their routes. To my knowledge so far, there should be 5 or 6 spawning locations of these pinkertons and they follow their fixed route😄
Does the horse always spawn there...a few runs and i didn't see it. Last run i got to phase 2 and lost it. Will update when i finally get it. Thanks so much
It is the case that we lose sight in any phase. Have to keep it within sight. Really a pain

Have to come back and kill so many pinkertons for it😆so I suggest once you get the Tiger Mustang, you should set up a camp to fast travel back to safer land

For the herding part, no. But it is more difficult to cross Blackwater(Great Plains and Tall Trees) in chapter4 as pinkertons have more deadly weapons

Before you attempt this, you will be wise to consider the pros and cons of this method. The purpose of this comment is to help with exactly that!
Pros:
-You get a high end coat for the mustang multi-class horse with impressive stats. It also looks relatively nice.
Cons:
...
-Saint Denis is the only place to get the required buggy. It and Rio Bravo are on basically opposite sides of the entire map. This is a LOT of time to be spending preparing a horse delivery for taming outside of new austin territory.
-You are stuck with the sniper on you, that will kill you in ONE HIT.
-The horse cannot be herded reliably. It having a mind of its own aside, other npcs with vehicles and mounts of their own WILL scare your horse away.
-The horse is NOT predictable. This means it can even throw itself off a cliff to instantly die, thus negating all your progress AGAIN!
-The number of hits required for the sniper to kill you is no more than one and it's not able to miss. it CAN be blocked, but it doesn't miss besides the first few "warning shots".
-Aggravated NPCs can destroy the buggy.
-If the player is hit once by the sniper, its an game over then and there.
-The horse can despawn. Especially when you least expect.
-The buggy can get destroyed if you stop at steep terrain.
To be honest, I myself am not a big fan of the horse itself. I see it as a challenge and it is a good one🤣
@@regina77phalange Funny you say that. Given Arthur's hair color matching and the 8/10 for both stamina and health, I got a feeling I will very much be a fan of it. To make room for this mustang I sold the hungarian halfbred I snatched from Benedict Albright and I loved that horse a lot!
TL;DR for below: Rockstar bad! This method is garbage too and its a tragedy its the only way to get the horse in chapter 2.
With all said and done... I can't agree that was a good challenge. It actually managed to ruin the game for me. It wouldn't have been that way if the time to recover from a fail was short, but rockstar, the same morons who approved the camera mounted turret, gave the player no means of saving a vehicle! Yes, there should be such a thing, given the wagon fence brings in the "grand theft wagon" aspect into this game.

Why do you need your main horse with you again
Want to make it my main horse in Blackwater so you can set up a camp and go back to safe lands. But in the video, I was too excited to do that. In the video, this horse follows me back in the safer lands after I die since it is my main horse

It is the case that the shot begins when you are wading the water. The middle point of the river is a changing point. When you leave New Austin for Blackwater(tall tree area), after the middle point of the river (middle point of the crossing part), there is no shot any more.

How did you get past West Elizabeth? Also would doing the companion glitch help me out in this situation with the law chasing me

yes since it is dependent on no other missions. As long as you finish hunting mission with Hosea which unlocks special wild horses

literally hundreds of times of dying and failing in the beginning, lol. Now I've got the hang of it. Cannot guarantee for every trip but close to that. Should be able to get the horse at least 1 time for every 2 times trying😁.

We can't do it in New Austin as Arthur because of the sniper shots. But we can do it in Blackwater

@Scottie4twenty it has an extra plus 1 in every stat compared to regular mustangs. 8 health and stamina 7 speed 5 acceleration. It's not bad by any means but I'd rather use the fox trotter Ardennes and Dutch warmbloods you can get in chapter 2
