I didn't know him well but my Mom and his wife Ingrid were good friends. They ran a restaurant and nightclub here in San Diego for a long time. Their son, A.J. is a very talented musician in his own right.

I’m a 3rd generation truck driver. Times have changed, so I haven’t put up with what my grandpa, and uncle had to deal with back in the day. I’ve always loved Croce’s music, but this song missed me. Thank god for my uncle Paul for turning me onto it years ago. I’ve heard similar stories. So this resonates HARD for me! What a legend RIP Mr. Jim

I drove for 5 years, long after the 70s... I drove early 2000s. It a thankless job. Hours of boredom with fleeting moments of terror.
As wonderful as he was. And as much as I wish he had stayed with us to write more songs. I wish more that he had gotten to retire and spend time with his family like he was planning
He planned that. But he promised to make up that show he canceled. His last show, was gonna be his last show. Sad.

I remember the days when music was real..not commercial. They played real instruments and sang without help, using their own real voice. Jim's gone too soon.

If you are ever in TN on I 40 exit 238 check out Uncle Pete's Truck Stop one of the last old type truck stops. The food is good too. Maury Muehlesisen is the guy playing with Jim he was a heck of a musician but sadly he died with Jim.
