$9.4 million taxpayer dollars to renovate a homeless shelter for homeless who refuse shelter? For the few that apply, do they each get a mint on their pillow before bedtime?
Million Dollar Criminal Service Centers with toxic and unsafe environments awarding attackers and neglecting victims as usual. Oregon “doesn’t discriminate” including for proof of injuries that cause extra damage by being cast to the curb in order to give extra and unneeded comfort to the many many who require less help and do not embody societal attack but self aflfiction. It’s the population size I am talking about. There are so many more people with less need who won’t recieve injuries for life- People like “couples” and “women” and “drug users”- That they occupy the million dollar beds to full occupancy so the society’s major and catastrophic problems persist. AND YES WE ARE WAITING TO SUE.
Metro has sandbagged millions thanks to JVP, she still plans on handing out tents, tarps, and syringes to keep the homeless carousel going. What a putz.
To much money why cant rhey just buy used buildings why do they have to make brand new building s they need to use old buildings renovating 9 million dollars *
I think this is absolutely FANTASTIC!!! And scru the naysayers, btw! Nothing ever pleases them, no matter what!! I would however, like to speak to something i heard this one man say, to the effect: 'It must be TREATMENT B4 Housing!' So i don't think he's ever spent a picosecond with a Single Homeless Person, let alone a Community of them?! It should be HOUSING 1st! With wrap around services & a Case Worker assigned to each, until its determined they don't need one any more! Treating someone for a drug addiction & then sending them right back out into the streets is a fools folly & a complete waste of our Tax $$$$! What incentive do they have when they are still going 2B in the same vulgar lifestyle, & with all the temptations they will endure? I believe that HOUSING 1st, with all the aforementioned - would be the best plan?! I also believe that alot of the 'mental illness' we see, is from a drug problem that went on too long sans treatment therefrom?
Can we please look at the data & stop calling this a homeless issue in Poorland - what our local government has created with all of the "nonprofit$" is shameful. What we have is a population of 6k people the overwhelming majority of which has addiction and/or mental issues and that refuse shelter and services issue. Need to focus on how changing the laxed laws that enable this. $10M for that? NEED AN AUDIT
Kowardly KOIN always turns off comments. Now spending $million$ on home-economics classes for meth cooks? There is an empty Wal-Mart on 82nd, surrounded by homeless addict camps. Complete with a subway cooking facility and restrooms inside. There is video security infrastructure in place. There are warehouses full of office cubicle dividers for privacy. The criminals closed the store, so maybe they should re-open it as their new home...
If you don't allow the homeless to do drugs while staying there then the homeless won't show up. This project is doomed to fail. You need to FORCE THEM into these places. or The other alternative is jail. Which is also permanent housing (the latter is the better solution) #cleanupourstreets #NOMORELAWLESSNESS
Tell me that you don’t know jack sh*t about what it’s like to be homeless, without actually saying that you don’t know jack sh*t about what it’s like to be homeless. 🙄
BTW, there are quite a few homeless people who will not only show up when offered a bed at this shelter, but they will be grateful for the support and services they will receive.
If i needed a place to live, i wouldn't much care how it 'looks' on the outside - as i would expect to Live on the INSIDE- so i wouldn't be just sitting around staring at the walls of the building 24-7! sheesh!!
Let's not engraciate ourselves over giving a person a bed in a room full of others needing mental health and drug addiction support. This avvery temporary place to sleep. Counseling and coaching along with support to get into longterm housing is the goal. Not just a bunch of beds as shown in the video. Yippy we converted a Walgreens in to housing for a few. Ok good job for doing something. They will need more so let's help get that support. Keep voting to get the job done. Sorry my phone is dying. Peace and love everyone.
$9,400,000 divided by 106 = $88,679 per person, absolutely INSANE!!!
How does one shelter renovation cost 9.4 million?! Multiple houses can be built for that! Corruption with our tax $
Could have built favelas and a gondola to truck us in and out as we cater to the rich commuting on public transportation to minimum wage
Someone needs to investigate the “non-profit” who spent 9 million dollars on half walls, bunk beds, and a commercial
Kitchen.

90 days? we shall see what it looks like after 90 days...
Homelessness isn’t meant to be solved. It’s meant to never end bc the Homeless Industrial Complex makes a lot of $$$. A lot.

Well yes, that is indeed part of it! But Mult. Co. has gone over the top with it!
About time! 🙏

Let’s move all shelters out of downtown
Yea move em all to the favelas in Brazil 🇧🇷
Internment camp non optional enlistment to the ideals of this community
Absolutely zero help for people that are in danger of becoming homeless and destroying their ability to rent due to an eviction, makes zero sense
The homeless people should really fight for contracts to renovate homeless shelterz

Tiny homes
Sleeping pods.

learn how to cook is Gordon Ramsey going to be there
Ahhh, nice prison complex. Social segregation much?
Seriously this is so blunt, these won’t work, it looks like a prison and actually worst! Shame, it’s so empty
It’s empty, because it’s not open yet. 🤦🏻♀️
Looks like a FEMA camp to me
Looks like Heaven compared to the shelter that’s located in the old Greyhound Station.
Ewwwww it looks like a prison! What’s wrong with you! Look at Utah their places are nicer and worth it! Do good -sad
Maybe the homeless in Oregon should go to Utah?
