খুলনা নদীবন্দরের ৫ নম্বর ঘাটের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশ ধসে নদীগর্ভে বিলীন হয়ে গেছে। এতে ঝুঁকির মুখে পড়েছে বন্দরের পণ্য ওঠা-নামা কার্যক্রম।
স্থানীয়রা জানান, গতকাল রোববার দুপুরে ভৈরব নদীর পাড়ে হঠাৎ ভাঙন দেখা দেয়। এতে নদীবন্দরের ৫ নম্বর ঘাটের ৫০ ফুট এলাকা নদীগর্ভে বিলীন হয়ে যায়। ৪ ও ৬ নম্বর ঘাটসহ আশপাশের দেড় কিলোমিটার এলাকায় দেখা দিয়েছে ভাঙন।
ঘাট ইজারাদারদের অভিযোগ, ভাঙনের বিষয়ে কর্তৃপক্ষকে লিখিতভাবে জানানোর পরও কোনো ব্যবস্থা নেয়নি। খুলনা নদীবন্দরের ৭টি ঘাটে প্রতিদিন অন্তত ৩০টি ছোট জাহাজ ও পণ্যবাহী কার্গো থেকে সার, পাথর, বালু ও কয়লাসহ বিভিন্ন খাদ্যশস্য ওঠা-নামা করা হয়।
