NOTE: I failed to mention in the video, I did turn the regulator adjustment back to where it originally was. However I ended up replacing the entire regulator assembly due to the seepage from the switching valve weep hole.
I had a similar issue with an old Winnebago years ago. Fridge and oven were short on gas put in a new $7.00 regulator and worked great luckily since got to a cabin and the fridge there was bad! Good video Chris.
So I followed your checks and the last thing I checked was the igniter electrodes. Wasn't going to do it but I did. Sure enough a mud dauber had built a nest on the electrodes. Cleaned it off and bingo it worked. Thanks for your post.
I appreciate the complete disassembly of the system. Even though you ended up not needing it, it gave me a chance to see the components before I disassembled mine.
Thanks for this! I took mine apart and did all the checks you did and it was all fine. I was told the furnace was never fired. It looked like it was only ever test fired. Turned out the one gas valve solenoid was rusted stuck. Cleaned it up, and it works perfectly! Gets my little pop up super toasty, and running it all night for 2 nights I didn’t even kill a 20lb
I found your Chanel a year or so ago just watching boat videos. Trouble shooting a furnace you popped up and it was a bad fitting Los of pressure. Thanks for the great content. Love your channel.
Thanks for the video. This helped me to end my 3 hour journey of troubleshooting that stupid thing. I had a problem with my altwood hydro flame furnace and your video solved it in 1 minute. But thank god I didn't had to take the whole thing apart. The furnace would not turn on in my camper at all. Every video on RUclips shows how to take it apart and how to clean it and much more. But I had a gut feeling that this is not a cleaning or any kind of malfunctioning problem. Now you are the first one showing step by step what you did to start the furnace up and that was the helping hint in the first minute. I knew I had power on the thermostat. Power supply is correct but I had no power on the furnace side. Checked the breakers and tiny fuses all are ok. You showed on your thermostat to turn the heat all the way up and all the other videos didn't show your next step. You toggled the upper switch on the thermostat to the on position and that is nowhere mentioned in all those videos I have watched. But that little stinky plastic switch done the job and my furnace makes the sound of happiness. Mention that maybe in your next video it might help someone like it helped me even though you just turned yours on routinely. Ha ha. Thanks again.
Thanks for sharing your trials!! We’re about to fire up the Atwood furnace in our 2003 pop-up for the first time. It comes with almost NO instructions. Your video helped us out a lot!!!
No problem Dawn and that's great to hear the video was of use to you! Really appreciate you dropping a comment to let me know. Thank you and good luck with it!
Stupidly fun to watch, thanks for sharing this! I was like, "this doesn't make sense, it's all fine".... And yeah, your flow was starved. Cool cool. I especially liked how you showed the burner going then heater kicking on, thanks again!
No problem! I'm glad you found it helpful. Originally I was not going to even edit and post a video since I probably looked like a dummy in the end. But I suppose it's good to share when things don't go that smooth also
Oh man I've been in that exact same situation in the software world so many times. You end up debugging the wrong thing down to the last line and then finally realize "oh, the function calling it is expecting a "1" when really it should be expecting to get a "0".
How many times have we taken something apart, only to discover the problem is right before us? We used to use a term at work that we didn't always follow, "KISS" Keep It Simple Stupid . Not nice but we've all been there!
Awesome! Glad you got it working. Question...what "BTU" propane furnace do you have? I'm looking to get one like yours for a home built truck camper I'm building from scratch. Thanks!
Thanks for all your great videos, I have a question for you I fired up my newly bought 2000 camper heater runs great but smells a little mousy any tips ?? Thanks in advance
No problem, glad to hear they were helpful. It sounds like you may have a dead rodent kicking around in there somewhere. I would consider taking it apart and inspecting
I ended up replacing it due to the seepage coming from the switching valve. I thought I mentioned that in the end of the video but maybe I forgot to add that clip
Awesome problem-solving sequences in your video. I am such a newbie compared to you that the first thing that I must ask you before I attempt some similar problem-solving is this one: What powers the furnace, if anything? Does the flow of propane do everything? I ask this as this is my first RV and it has not camped in perhaps a couple of decades. It used to have solar-panels. I have only gotten a chance to plug power directly into it (from a house extension cord to the RV plug) just once, and may never get that chance again. So then, do I need some sort of electrical power for the furnace to work or, does it just need a full propane tank? I tried the two cooking burners inside yesterday and they worked fine! Thanks, Martin.
It's powered with 12 volts from the battery. First things to check would be the fuse box, the safety trip switch, and if you're getting propane or not.
I have a similar model to yours. It's clicking, but pretty slow. Maybe once a second. I think in your video I could hear your ignitor clicking very rapidly. Maybe my ignitor isn't even clicking, maybe it's the solenoid making that sound? Also took the ignitor out and fired up the furnace, but didn't see any spark. (My ignitor has three rods instead of two.) Ideas of what my problem could be?
Mine didnt light up until i filled with antifreeze. There is antifreeze leake and i cant find it jet. Inside cant see any leaks it might be where the burner is but i cant see need to look again.
I have the same heater in my camper and keep having issues during 0 degree weather. It runs basically nonstop for around 25 or 30 hours, then it stops working and blows cold air. I have plenty of electrical power and have fresh propane tanks. My regulator is outside of the camper….is it possible it’s freezing up?
Yeah if you're talking 0° f. It's probably freezing up or the tank is getting too cold and doesn't have pressure. Next time it stops working, try using your range to see if that's still operates fine. That will tell you if the tank still has good pressure
Too much tech required!!! Give me a 1962 Coleman furnace. No dangerous , complex electronics required. Turn the tank on, turn the pilot light on, light the pilot light, adjust the flame. Start the burner. Sniff for leaks. Proceed with care. Check for heat. Adjust accordingly.🤗
Yeah, sucks it took me so long to figure it out LOL. Hopefully the video still gave you a good idea of how the system works. What did you find to be the problem with yours?
NOTE: I failed to mention in the video, I did turn the regulator adjustment back to where it originally was. However I ended up replacing the entire regulator assembly due to the seepage from the switching valve weep hole.

That was amazing deduction assessing the stove burners and realizing there was a pressure issue! Kudos.
Omg I thought my system was broken for months. Turns out I just didn't know for to turn the dang thing on correctly. THANK YOU.

At least you know that now your furnace is clean and ready to rock. All was not lost. Great video. Luv my truck camper too! Happy camping! 😊
Thanks for not putting this down,i learn from mistakes than practice

A lot of us would not have looked for a kinked hose. Good job!
WOW, just picked up a used Lance and the heater does not work, probably not the same issue but you have shown me the path to troubleshoot, Thanks!!!
Thanks for the video.

Hey, awesome to hear the video was helpful to you. I'm sure your detailed comment of your experience will help others big time in the future
Certainly helpful...like they say if you're not making mistakes you're not doing anything!
Mistakes are very important to be successful at anything 🎉🎉🎉 you know it

Terrific video. Which of us has never done just that type of thing. Re establishes common sense thinking. Thanks much.
Was a great help fixing our furnace thank you!
Glad it helped!
I had some nice move into mine and now know I can get to the burn chamber via the front of the heater. Great video.
Its great that you posted. Sometimes we need to do a check list of simple first. Good to check hole system any ways. Thank you for posting it.
No problem! I'm glad you found it helpful. Originally I was not going to even edit and post a video since I probably looked like a dummy in the end. But I suppose it's good to share when things don't go that smooth also
What matters is you found and fixed the issue. Seek and you shall find.
Thanks for deciding to post this
Keep it SIMPLE !! CHECK THE OBVIOUS FIRST. 😂😂 I'm reminded of that TOO OFTEN! 😂😂😊
Love my slide in
this is good stuff. helps me to see the troubleshooting.

LOL thats rough. Good to hear I'm not the only one!

My haybusa fuel supply line was kinked from factory messed me up for a little while
always learning
great video , glad you put it up
Thanks for all your great videos, I have a question for you I fired up my newly bought 2000 camper heater runs great but smells a little mousy any tips ??
Thanks in advance

Great info man!
Hope you reset that propane regulator since you have no way of knowing how much pressure you added. Be safe.
I ended up replacing it due to the seepage coming from the switching valve. I thought I mentioned that in the end of the video but maybe I forgot to add that clip

Fuck I'm old. I got excited about my furness....
thank you!!
No problem! Hopefully you figured your problem out quicker than it took me

Thumbs up 👍 passing gas😂
Does this heater run off DC power? Any idea the amperage? Thanks!
It's a DC fan and control. Propane for heat
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow yes! Thanks! I was hoping this was the case!
Flame sensor dirty , maybe
I have one like just like this but my fan is not even coming on at first I here a click and I about 30 secs later I here the igniter click

Those never worked for me
weird problem noit mine though

My fan wont even come on??
Physical layer first

🤣🤣
yeaaaa. lol. That sucked
