Nice! I move these chords up the neck all the time, don’t know what I’m doing but sounds great! Good to see an explanation…

Nice. The icing on the cake would have been a partner strumming the open chords and you soloing over them using those triads and their inversions.

Good lesson, but it would be a lot easier to follow along if you had a guitar that had fret markers.

The diagrams have dots, note names, fret numbers, and colors for the root, third, and fifth. And he keeps saying what fret he is on. Or skip all of that and use your ear. It will be slow at first and get faster.

If you know all the notes to the fretboard it'll make more sense to you.
Keys are just pitch...in other words slide everything down 3 frets...as if you were in
      Cmaj.
Or the 9th fret is like the 12 fret in the key of Cmaj
Or...it's still the same as open position. It's just one octive higher.
The pattern is still the same. it only moved up one string.
Place your index finger in the 4th fret.
Start from the C# ( A string)...pretend that note is like the low open E note..low string
if you were in the Key of Cmaj...place you index finger on the E note 7th fret (A string). The neck had basically been cut into 1/4 sections.

Is this it? Just getting the complete chord let's say F (133211 or x87565) and taking out 6th and 5th strings and playing xx3211 or xx7565) - looks like abbreviated CAGED to me. I do this when my hand is getting too tired to hold barred chords haha Lennon style

Did the same shapes without the "Original" bass for each chord.

If Raggy says super video it has to be, so I am going to agree. If you passed out the tab, I could print it out and put in the stack (a foot tall) of things I mean to do some day, but since you didn't I had to write it all out and put names and numbers under each grip so I could figure them out. Gee..that may be how Raggy learned all that stuff, like putting your pinky down to go from a C to an A-. Or a C6 with no 5th. Nope, Raggy says it is an A-. There is too much to learn, but thanks for not adding to my stack of things to do. At least I am started on this, got to watch it again.

F# is a major 6th from A. Doesn't that make it the VI not the vi even though it is a minor chord?!

    • @mksybr
      @mksybr 8 лет назад +3

+Ruben Vazquez Amos No, try constructing a chord from the notes in A with a F# as a root. F# A C#, which is a major third, and a perfect fifth, together of which are a major triad. The sixth chord in a major scale will be minor, because those are the note available in that key, for instance there is no A# in the key of A, so if you build a chord with F# as the root in the key of A it cant be a F# major triad because its missing that option.

these are actually same chords as the basic major and minor chords... only thing we are playing it in different fret in different style... but both sounds same.. but this is improvised chords helps you shift the chords easily
