    That was a good one Sandra. I’ve worked inversions out many times but I never thought of doing it that way. A lot of times I write the notes on paper but I didn’t think of the alphabetical arrangement. Bravo!

      Just a little hint can open so many doors. glad you like it. Apply it to whatever you can, in order to find new voicings. And then memorize only the onse you like the most.

    Enjoyed a rare Sunday brunch today😄. Sandra, this was a very good lesson! I’ve been working on stuff like this, actually, but I’ve never heard your trick before. And, pulling a more manageable triad out of a chord is a great idea to maintain flavor, while the bass player keeps things rooted. Especially for my arthritic hands! Some stretches are insane. Stay safe👍

      Guitarversum Sandra Sherman Well, you manage expertly! Hope you can avoid arthritis (really limiting as well). {I had to edit this} I just applied your trick to one of my fav voicings DA#CF (5856 inner 4) > A#CDF (8,10,7,11 inner 4) for a voicing I’ve never (consciously) used before. Been there all along😄.

    Do you have any tips for using these more complex chords (alt dominants, maj9#11 type chord voicings) in a way that doesn't sound too dissonant and clashing with the band and with the chord tones themselves? (avoiding m9 intervals and things like that)

    • @GuitarversumSandraSherman
      @GuitarversumSandraSherman  4 года назад

      Usually we avoid "Avoid Notes" in chords. Almost each mode has (at least) one such avoid note. But they can sound pretty awesome if used intentionally by theentire band!

    Another fantastic lesson Sandra - just the type of thing I've been looking for to help me "build" chords and understand the various steps to take. Do you have a PDF or similar of what you would regard as "necessary" jazz chords and extensions? I would be happy to buy it or something similar, and I'm sure lots of your subscribers would too. I hope that you and your family are all well and safe in these strange and unusual times. Stay safe. (I have downloaded the 7th CHORDS INVERSIONS from E-String PDF).

    hello neighbor. I slapped "like" but honestly I have a cloud of questions arround my head, so if you can comment it would be appreciated:
    a. You took chord tones and "re-sort" them alphabetically- I can draw them from the hat, is that OK, and get some order which s not the starting one.. correct ?
    b. then i find the new order of tones on same strings where i had original. this is to ensure that i get some kind of inversion, new voicing.. I've got that... but sometimes i can get impossible fingering like 7.24 .. instead of playing two triads, can I use all strings to rearrange fingering and make it possible, of course paying attention on order of tones ? it may work sometimes..anyhow cool trick :)

    • @GuitarversumSandraSherman
      @GuitarversumSandraSherman  4 года назад +1

      Sure you can experiment with that strategy! Maybe you will come up with some really new Azur Ajanovic voicings ;-)
      It#s always a good idea to make things your own.
