The one and only Billy Shears (multi-platinum recording artist Peter Frampton) and his best friends the Hendersons (Rock and Roll Hall of Famers The Bee Gees) are four young men from the quaint little town of Heartland. With superstardom calling, this fabulous foursome leaves Heartland - and Billy's beloved Strawberry Fields (Sandy Farina) - vulnerable to mean Mr. Mustard, who steals Sgt. Pepper's magical instruments for a fiendish, "evil force that would poison young minds, pollute the environment, and subvert the democratic process." With all due respect, those who took this movie seriously might opt to reconsider. It's a silly film and lived up to it.
It now actually serves as a Time Capsule of the late 70's with all it's lavishness, uncontrolled weirdness & excess.
It will be a gem to own.
The Bee Gees took it VERY seriously, claiming that after people see this movie and hear their versions, they'll forget about The Beatles. Lots of nose candy was involved in that sentiment.

I was 12 when this came out and saw it at the theater more than 20 times. I went out and got the album, even a t-shirt, and lots of rare collectible cards. This is a awesome collaboration of people in one big cheeseball musical! LOVE IT!

Same here, except I was 13-14. My fav card was the Strawberry Fields. I was drawn in by the various performances, and thought that Steven Tyler was the ultimate bad guy.
To me, the movie always looked like a higher-budget movie version of The Krofft Supershow.
Robin was so beautiful in this movie 😍

I grew up with this being on vhs, I watched it as a kid and definitely hits the nostalgia bit seeing it today because I wasn’t very old when I saw it and I’m only in my 30’s funny thing is all these years later I’m watching this and I realize I see the Bee Gees😂
Still enjoy the movie today and it brings back great memories

@@BGWhispererYes, I watched it just to see Barry. The movie is so bad that, in interviews they did in the 80s, they saw this movie as a big mistake in their careers. Robert must have pushed them for this movie because they were at the peak of their careers at that time. Still, it was great to see Barry in all his glory. By the way, if you watch it, be careful that Barry doesn't touch the girls in the movie much compared to the others. He's being cautious 😂
@@Melke.2024 He could’ve never been a movie star for that reason-that he couldn’t even bring himself to pretend to like and be attracted to other women. Too bad, because I would’ve liked to see him for long periods of time on the screen.
@@BGWhisperer You've probably heard of Barry's movie Now Voyager. Frankly, I didn't like the movie, but of course, the songs he made for the movie are perfect. That magnificent voice... Actually, we can see that Barry has acting talent in this movie, but he must not have chosen it later. He could have been the lead in a good movie. By the way, I am sure that Barry used a stuntman in the song Temptation in the movie Now Voyager 😃 the opposite is unthinkable.

Is a period based musical, I guess is the best way to describe it. Is not the best one around, but more fun than Cats recently.

there is no acting when they discovered none of the bands cast could act they hired the actor to play the Mayor to narrate and everyone speaks in song with subtitles

A n unwatchable mess of a film.
The only thing worth seeing is a shot of Tina Turner and Carol Channing in a choir. That probably would not have happened , but for this movie. Some of the soundtrack is o.k., but watching this nonsense doesn't help. Yuck.

La película es la fantasía de Robert Stigwood al querer tener unos Beatles... Los Bee Gees es lo más próximo (no por obra, ni estilo pero son grandes cantautores).
Este proyecto es lo que amarró a los Bee Gees. Ya estaba firmado el contrato.
Robin dijo que se sentía estúpido usar esos trajes. Pero tenían ya firmado el proyecto con Robert.
Yo a veces creo que los dichos de Robin "olvidarán a los Beatles y recordarán las nuevas generaciones la versión de los Bee Gees" era para poder publicitarlo y que la gente fuera a verlo, sabiendo que era algo fatal. No buscaban darle recomendación.
(Yo pensaría en qué Robert tenía un arma en las costillas de Robin)
También pienso que los dichos de Lennon en 1980(que hablaba de los BeeGees) "que las canciones es la misma basura o rehecha" (algo así ) era una indirecta a los BeeGees, al cual no era que estuviera en contra de su música, pero si como indirecta. Ya sabemos cómo era Lennon.
Aquí la culpa es de Robert Stigwood, pagados por los BeeGees.
