Hi there, we took the Stuart highway which is the main highway from the bottom of Australia (South Australia) up to the top (Darwin) there are loads of offshoots such as the Oodnadatta track which you would have probably seen on other RUclips vids, very popular if you have a 4WD, not for us with the motorhome. We try to avoid the mud bogs 😊
We are really learning so much with your videos. You are very welcome to park on our acreage property. We live between Gold Coast and Brisbane, 😊 only a few minutes drive away from a winery😅. Ann and Paul
Hi Ann and Paul, thank you so much for the very kind offer. We might take you up on that at some stage. We have just headed back down south again and plan to head back up that way next winter.
Hi, we tend to unhook most places if we are staying more than one night. If we are just passing through we try and get a drive through site or camp somewhere that we can stay hooked up. It does not take very long to unhook, have it down to a fine art now. Thanks for the comment. Cheers.
Good video guys. Too many kms to my liking. Don't have a chance to smell the roses. But it's horses for coarses. Hope you didn't do any damage getting stuck. Reduce tyre pressure should have got you out without issues. I add 100mm to my height to 3.3mtrs and if in doubt don't go under. And no Chicken Man at Renmark. His houseboat is an icon. And his car is usually at the bowls club. Anyway cya on the road
Hi, thanks for the message, great suggestion with reducing the tyre pressure. Luckily, no damage to the motorhome and we will be extra careful from now on. Don't think we will ever drive that far again in one day, we don't usually do that many ks, but coming back down the same way, we had seen all the desert on the way up. 😊
Lol, it was a funny/not so funny moment. We had to unhook the car, no choice. Brian was almost at the roof and i jumped out, realised we were not going to make it under there. After we unhooked the car, we were able to reverse the motorhome back out and drive away.
Burra! Love that place. We visit a lot and great place to stay. Best steak at that pub✔️ I’ve been wanting to go to the Big 4 Renmark for ages. Looks lovely.
I think what most people underestimate is the added stress of driving long distance in a large van or truck, as your attention level must be much higher and the ride is not as smooth. I can go 1,000 miles in a car with only usual stops every 3-4 hrs and it's not too bad. 500 in my semi, or large pickup with a travel trailer, I'm wiped out. Even worse if you aren't normally driving great distances.
@headsortailsmotorhometravels77 Those figures are very impressive I personally would be very happy. When we used to tow a Semi off Road Caravan 3000kg being towed by a 2019 Mazda Bt50 ect I was averaging 21 to 23 L per 100. We no longer have this set-up.
Hi Guys, can you tell us the actual time you travelled to Uluru as we are thinking of doing the same trip, any chance of a list of where you stayed and the route took, loving the channel👍wayne and carmel.
Hi Wayne and Carmel, we were in Uluru a few weeks ago. I think May/June/July is a great time to be there. We are going to put out a video on everything you need to know about getting to Uluru, as it's such a bucket list destination. It depends on where you are starting your trip from. We came from NSW, headed down to South Australia, Flinders Rangers and then headed up the Stuart Highway to Uluru. We stayed at roadhouses along the Stuart Hwy, Spuds Roadhouse, Marla is a good one, there are quite a few to choose from. Great trip to do.
Are you guys planning the next lap yet? You’re probably way down the road now but there is a great sheep shearing museum in Hay and Broken Hill/Silverton are within your driving range. Keep up the great work and get the coin back out!
Having a motorhome or camper van is the way to go for long trips. As a remote tradie i always see campers at rest stops and i think "faasrk how lucky are they being able to pull over and make a coffee" - and ive sometimes wondered if i could stop and offer someone $10 to make me one - driving a lowered 1 tonner with a trailer full of tools and materials for 600km plus at a time gets very sore and tiring
Hi, we will definitely make you a coffee if you ever see us parked up and you need one. It is handy being able to pull over and make lunch, we do that regularly on our days of driving. Its handy having your kitchen in your vehicle.
I think this is the first Aussie video I've seen of a long haul without a bunch of dirt roads and mud bogs in the mix! Must be a popular route. 👍

How often do you have to unhook the swift on your travels
Great videos very informative
Thanks

You can reverse with the Predator a few metres if required. Just jump in behind the wheel of the car and keep steering wheel straight .
Hi, thanks for letting us know, hopefully we won't ever make that mistake again, but good to know. 😊
Nice video as usual guys👍.. Curiosity got the better of me as it's one of my biggest fears
🤔 how did you get out of the servo?

@@headsortailsmotorhometravels77 that would have been great on film..lol 😂

There's a cafe opposite the hardware in Burra and their coffes are great. I was there recently working on heratage listed houses near the big church
We stopped for lunch at the St John Cafe in Burra on our way to Peterborough. Great food and ambience. New subscribers to your channel.
I think you would love the Big4 in Renmark it was very peaceful.
Great little place, will be back.
Glad you found our channel. 😊
The long haul drive. This is the thing most foreign travellers underestimate. It takes days of driving. Each. Day. Its thousands of kms
So true, Australia is such a huge country.

Thankyou for taking us along enjoyed the Video. How many Ltrs per 100klm are you averaging in your MH.
The motorhome averages about 12.8 L per 100 ks when we are not towing the car. When we tow the car that goes up to about 14.8 to 15 L per 100ks. 😊

It can easilly be done overnight from Adelaide. I've done it in a semi.

@@headsortailsmotorhometravels77 Thanks guys, we are starting from Sydney as well, Wayne
Slow down! Or do you need to get home? Stop in my favorite town in Australia called Keith.
🤣😊Thanks Keith, no we don't really need to get home. We just wanted to find somewhere to relax for a while and we definitely found that with Renmark.
Are you guys planning the next lap yet? You’re probably way down the road now but there is a great sheep shearing museum in Hay and Broken Hill/Silverton are within your driving range. Keep up the great work and get the coin back out!
It always seem to take longer going home from anywhere. Lol. Hows the motorhome going mechanically, any issues on your travels so far.
So true.
Hi, no issues mechanically with the motorhome at all. Touch wood, we really love it, and it drives very well.
