Thanks Lou, great video. All of the wildlife there is fascinating, that moth was incredible. butterflies too - not types that we get to see normally. Funnily enough, a friend of mine had one of those pheasants on her garden here in Wales. I think Japan has more wet weather heading in. Stunning place, where you get out and about there. Take care, Vox.
That was some saga to catch that keelback, nice work finally tracking it down. Seeing a raccoon dog was super cool, I would not have expected to see one out in broad daylight. Good stuff! - Harrison and Evan
Thats a Tanuki for sure. Japanese raccoon dog. You're lucky to see one. I have spent a lot of time in Japan too but have never had the luck of seeing one. Great video as usual!
That animal at 10:12 is either a Porcupine-Alligator, or a Honshu Tabby Hyena. Please know that it's highly unlikely you'll find those names in any official publications, but that's what I like to call them. Those critters will answer to almost anything, so if my choices don't work for you, feel free to name it whatever you want. If you see one prancing around during the day (like that one is), it's probably looking for cash. Nice find(s), Lou. Thanks for taking us along!
Gripping stuff! Lol. Awesome video as always. I've never heard of a Raccoon Dog, so I went to Wikipedia of course, LOL....the intro read as follows, "The Japanese raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides viverrinus),[1] also known as the tanuki (Japanese: 狸, たぬき, pronounced [taꜜnɯki]), is a subspecies of the Asian raccoon dog. As the tanuki, the animal has been significant in Japanese folklore since ancient times. The legendary tanuki is reputed to be mischievous and jolly, a master of disguise and shapeshifting, but somewhat gullible and absentminded. It is also a common theme in Japanese art," I love learning new things! Thanks for the video!
To the untrained eye the Tiger Keelback looks harmless, it just shows you how careful you need to be. The scenery in that part of Japan is very attractive extremely lush and verdant.
You seriously should do a M Toxins Venom lab facility tour in Oshkosh for your viewers. I see you support them and I do as well. It's a great facility.
You ever get any kind of poisonous plants like ivy in those fields? Love those keels, such cool looking snakes. That turtle was insanely small, cool flip. Curious how that tin got there? You don't have a truck or whatever, but I'd be tempted to lay more tin. Think that was a Tanuki you saw, the raccoon dog looking dealio.
I think there is! I got a bit or a rash after this trip. Never had it before. I may need to consult the plant app. No ticks or chiggers though. I hate those things! Yeah, I just re-purposed pieces I found out there. I'd love to lay some more! Yeah, I'm hearing Tanuki. I've never heard that name before. Strange animals.
That was one elusive little snake. Maybe it was playing a game of "catch me if you can" with you like you were with it? The little turtle was a nice surprise, didn't expect that at all!
Which species is the turtle? I know that hatchling tortoises do hide under boards and stuff just like snakes because they are too small and vulnerable. I didn’t expect a water turtle though.
Do they make anything like a 'spike' attachment for the GP so you wouldn't have to think about it; just ram it into the ground when you get there? (Of course, call 511 beforehand, so you avoid gas mains; you don't want to blow up Japan...) /s
@@loub747 Even if it's plastic...? I think (given your lofty position), if you were to choose to do something crazy, you don't need a 3" spike to affect mayhem... Silly TSA...
Quote of 2021 so far, "If you handle a poisonous snake, wash your hands...and I'm about to have some ice cream" lol
Yep. You got it.
I forgot to cut in the ice cream shot! Good times. Can't wait for AZ
Beautiful and exciting! Thanks🌺
Thanks! It's my pleasure.
Great video as always Lou! Cute little keelback!
Thanks so much. Yeah, love those guys!

Thanks guys. Yeah, finally got one! The raccoon dog was a strange sighting for sure. First daytime encounter with one.
Awesome video Lou. I enjoy all your videos and I think it is awesome that your whole family gets involved. Keep the vids coming.
Thanks so much. Should have another video out within the hour.

That darn Snake
I'll get it next time!
Great tiger keelback! Love this species. I found 4 adults at a 10-15-meter distance just yesterday. Totally crazy!
Damn, that's crazy. I wish i had that kind of luck!
Another great video Lou👍
Thanks so much

Yeah, they actually used to sell those snakes as pets. Non aggressive, but they can do a lot of harm in you get a sold bite.
LouB747 is an automatic thumbs up.
Thanks for the support!
The moth is a orleander hawk moth
That’s what I was thinking. I wasn’t sure if they were found in that area of the world. Awesome looking moths.
You seriously should do a M Toxins Venom lab facility tour in Oshkosh for your viewers. I see you support them and I do as well. It's a great facility.
Yeah, I’d love too. Maybe in June if they’ll let me in.

Yeah, that turtle was kinda sweet. I've never seen one that small before.
Flipping a turtle seems pretty strange, not something u would expect to find when flipping
Yeah, I almost didn't see him. Tiny little guy.
Missile silo LOL

I try! Difficult sometimes.
You should wear protective footwear
Yeah, I should. Maybe don't watch this video....

I'm not exactly sure. I know there is a Japanese local species, but I'm not sure if this is it.
What’s the biggest snake in Japan and the most venomous lou?enjoying your content matey✌️
I wish I could answer that. In the south there's the Habu. Possibly the most venomous. The Japanese Rat or 4 Lined Rat could be the longest.
Thank you Lou!
It’s my pleasure
Sure not from the lack of trying, you’ll get it eventually😎
Thanks. Definitely

They probably do. I'll have to look into that. Of course bringing a spike shaped device isn't great for the airlines.

Lou when you don’t shave you give away the fact you dye your hair 😂
Lol. Funny how my beard is getting grey. My hair isn’t dyed. Strange but true.
