Thanks for this I bought mine and it’s almost over whelming .I have a travel pearl travel kit 1980 with mesh heads.I’ve played perform for 60 years this where I see drumming going.I teach drums at a music school for years now. This next generation is amazing in seeking new ways😎
How to consider the choice of a drum kit for the Evans Sensory system? Shall one just get a as-cheap as possible drum kit and think that it does not matter as long as it has rims and a mesh? or shall one consider the acoustic sounds of the drumkit as well and try to find a unique wood and warm sound in the drum to match with sounds from the Evans system? how to figure this out the best way? what is your opinion? thanks for a nice video!
32:00 im pretty sure its has way more steps than 128 midi.. that standard was more than 40 years ago.. this device seems to use full sampling frequencies and all the dynamic it cans as use as resolution
Excellent video and review! I’ve had this a few weeks now, but I’m just finally getting around to setting up some kits. I’ve had the original for a year or so, but only played with it for a few hours. I plan on incorporating my three old sensors into the mix eventually if possible. You’re also right about plugging in other instruments. I plugged my guitar in and it was pretty easy to add effects and get a good tone, especially with me not being a guitarist, lol.
I am really excited about trying this with my band. It'll be interesting to see what happens since we are already on the experimental music side of things
Since the system was in beta most of the audio is being output from the Evans portal into my focusrite interface. There was no way to connect the sensor outputs directly to Logic at the time (that is now fixed btw). In some of the clips I'm recording directly into my iPhone using an iRig stream. I definitely need to invest in some lav mics for voice recording btw 😃
Fantastic video man, I'm pretty much sold! Quick question that wasn't immediately clear - is it easy to use the 3 sensors on multiple different drums and then switch between them? So it remembers the training for that particular drum? ie - did you just use the same sensors from the acoustic kit on your DIY electro mesh heads, swapping them back and forth between different drums?
Hello Handsome! Nice review and great trials! I've watched a couple of years ago Ian Chang and Mason Self and loved this technology. I think Evans buying this from Sensory Percussion (Sunhouse) is a great move. (Am I right here?) How many sensors would you suggest? Would you maybe keep just an "ordinary" trigger for the kick?
Apparently Evans didn’t buy Sunhouse outright & this is a partnership between the two. It’s really great for getting the tech into the mainstream! I would advise most drummers to purchase a 4th sensor once they are available. The kick sensor enables separate sounds for tapping the hoop & for pedal pressure amongst other things. In a pinch a mic will work too but you have to mess with the threshold & sensitivity a lot.
I have some sensors from the V1 version, the ones which worked via XLR cable and phantom power and they also work with V2, so if you find a used V1 sensor for cheaper that might be a way to go for adding sensors. I have only noticed slight differences in how the V1 and V2 sensors perform
Thank you so much for the great video:) Do the Triggers (Sensors) work with other brands or only with Sensory Percussion sensors? What will be the size and weight (specs)
Very informative video! I’m looking forward to your future videos with sensory percussion! 🥁
It would be good to see a video on just a standard kit, and how to edit it. Also one on building a standard kit from scratch
Good suggestion. I’ll make it happen.

Really Good Breakdown
Thank you! I had to leave sooooo much footage behind. This thing can do so much it was hard to know when to stop showing it's abilities

Man you are awesome on them drums ,nice drums by the way.
Thanks! I appreciate you
Cool video, man! Quick question: are you using loop back to record the music or something else?
Thanks man!

that is crazy dynamics. how are the low end samples in the software
They are awesome. Some are a combo of samples & synthesis and are earth shaking.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks Renzo!!!!!
