Just a subtle a hint about the cost.
The shoe retails for $110 on Adidas site however you can still apply their discount code and save 30% off that initial cost. Sub $90 shoe.

Sl20 History: The Adidas SL20 is a follow up to a very popular shoe from the company’s portfolio, the SL72 which was launched in 1972. The shoe was originally designed for use in the German Olympics and was worn on the podium by many an athlete. The SL in the name stands for Super Light, meaning its supposed to be lightweight

Seems to me that Adidas startet to take the running scene serious again this year with Adizero pro and many other innovations around.

    • @SeeChadRun
      @SeeChadRun 4 года назад +2

I think they've always had great products, but you are right (it would seem). They needed a few products that re-set the bar and competed with what others were coming out with. IMO, Adidas creates their own confusion by coming out with so many variations and one-off alterations of their shoes. It's taken me a while to know which of their shoes are true running shoes and which are just there to make sales.

for either mountain running or road running, I would name shoes based off of an animal or location that reminds me of the shoe's intent. So trail shoes might be named after mountain ranges (Sierra Nevada, Rockies, Himalayas, Appalachia) or mountain animals (Tahr, Bighorn, Mountain Goat, Marmot) and road shoes after type of road (Autobahn, Route 66) or "flat- land" animals that are either fast or can run long distances (Pronghorn, Cheetah, Gazelle, Camel, etc.).

Not sure what I'd call the shoe but I'd definitely have something in the name to indicate what type of run the shoe was best for - ie the blah Tempo and I'd colour code them use the same family of colours for each run type. i.e. All the slow easy day shoes could be purples and Long Run shoes could greens and a shoes that might be good cross over for both could be green and purple.

QD: adidas had a previous shoe called SL something in the 70s and they wanted to bring the name back. SL letters come from super light. The reason for using this name was probably the fact that they introduced the Lightstrike foam that was supposed to be lighter than Boost.
If I designed an adidas shoe, it would of course be named after a great runner because adidas has done the same with sneakers for a long time celebrating other famous athletes like Beckenbauer. Therefore my adidas shoe would be called adidas Adizero Haile because Gebrselassie wore adidas shoes and set so many world records back then.

My early impressions - it does suffer from comparison with its cousins in my shoe team :-)
Upper - comfortable, but i had to work the laces to find a secure lock-in for my midfoot region - toe box must be most roomy in the adidas family
Midsole - good for longer runs - i am not using these for the faster workouts
Outsole - continental rocks, but why did they give this only half a measure of it? - i feel a slight slippage compared to how i find my adios5, rc2, and boston8 grip the wet surface

I appreciate your reviews but this one missed the mark a little for me. I think more of a comparison to V1 would have been good. It seems that V2 did not improve over the first version but it would be nice if you addressed the pros/cons more. Even though it appears there is more midsole foam, the adidas website shows less of a stack height on V2 for some reason.

Hey Seth, Idk if its fair to compare this shoe to say the endorphin speed or the Hyperion tempo. I feel like tempo shoes have almost stratified into like a "budget daily trainer" vs. "elite daily trainer" categories. Like in the budget category you have shoes like the Rincon, SL20, Hyperspeed, and Kinvara, while I feel like the Hyperion Tempo, Endorphin Speed, Go Run Razor, etc are almost in a different class of shoes.

His bes friend & former team mate has been diagnosed with MND & the story is incredibly powerful.
Kevin played, on occasion, in the hooker position which is where hoka comes in. He played for Leeds Rhinos therefore Rhino & 2.0 because he has raised over 2million pounds.

The SL20s are lighter snappier and absorbs a surprisingly large amount of shock for a light shoe. For LONG DISTANT RUNNING WITH SPEED go with the SLs.For mostly comfort to save your joints go with the Pegs.

I have the original SL20’s and yes the SL20.2’s ARE BUILT somewhat cheaper and they don’t have the torsion plate. It does make a difference in the energy return factor. I’d much prefer the originals.

I'd make a springy, more cushioned shoe and call it the fly-boost
