The part about the crowd going crazy while he was soloing brings back a memory for me. Our band was playing at a bar and I had just finished a solo and the crowd started yelling and clapping, and I thought 'wow, I really nailed that'. A few seconds later I realized the Red Wings hockey game was on the TV and they had just scored a big goal late in the game. Brought me right back down. :)

Mr. Gibbs, I'm in a small town in Canada, I love your stories, and as a guy with a blues trio, who is a hack, I like when you talk about DIY. I just play blues, I am not competent enough for bluegrass. We just play to create, I love your attitude, I love that you share these epic stories about legends. Thank you, sir.

That is stuff of dreams for me I've lived in a small town in Canada for most of my life, and basically neil taught us all how to play guitar, and we all loved every minute of it!!!

First time I saw LOS was at Ziggy's in Winston Salem NC back in the 1990's. At the end of the show the back stage waiting area was stage right...While the audience was screaming for a encore...Vince and crew were rolling and lighting spliffs...the door opens and an fog rolls out on stage...band members follow flicking the party favors into the crowd. Good times!

Vince formed Leftover Salmon from two Boulder bands: The Left-hand String Band and the Salmon heads. Myself and a friend had the good fortune of seeing one of their first performances at McCabe's on Walnut St. 89 or 90. He has never lost his humility, joy and humor.

The barn thing reminded me of Levon Helm. The big trip to the hospital left him with a lot of medical bills. He cleaned out his barn, and made a semi-stage. Every weekend he had concerts, everybody he could grab. Then charged towns people to come and hear the greatest jam there ever was. Sadly I never got there, but the videos looked like it was a blast!! 8) --gary

Worked with Vince in the 80s knockin' out brunch orders at Nancy's restaurant in Boulder CO. Wild guy! He kept the kitchen rocking with great cassette tapes in the boom box. Leftover Salmon played a hand full of gigs at the Pioneer Inn in Nederland CO . Great shows!

If you’ve taken the Muscle Shoals deep dive, you’d know that Spooner found the organ lick that set Aretha’s career in motion. Sweetheart of a guy. So humble. A quiet musical giant.

In 91 my 7 year old son and I were traveling south from Clear Lake and Harbin Springs in my VW camper van along a narrow county road half way lost when we passed a man on the side of the road standing outside his T-bird with a map laid out on its roof. We drove passed and pulled over about 100 yards on. I looked at my son and he at me and I said, “is that who I think it is” and my son, who knew every Neil Young song by heart, cried out “It’s Neil Young! Should we help him, Dad?” “Well,” I said “ we’re as lost as he is, and besides he probably is trying to get lost. I think we should leave him alone.” We pulled out and drove on. To this day I wonder, but I don’t regret giving the man a well deserved break.

Otis I helped put you on in Sevenoaks England a couple of times. I relate to this video because just seeing some of the bands I have seen bring that same experience of being so lucky to be there. My first gig was Black sabbath 82 with dio but after I discovered blues I was lucky to see John lee hooker, BB King, Albert Collins, Honeyboy Edwards and more recently Gregg Allman at his last ever UK gig. If you have never seen John Otway the movie then watch it as it proves you can succeed with loyal supporters even when you go to far. Funny as hell movie. 🎸
