there was one missed step: disconnect ZIF connector from old battery board data cable (another, smaller part) and connect it to new battery board
I have to replace the top case on this model, and I’m considering buying one without the battery included and just using mine since it’s not too bad. Saves a bunch of money. Still on the fence though
Excellent tutorial. The process is so easy if you follow this step by step. Like, literally anyone can do this is they have the right tools. A few notes about my experience (with an iFixit battery replacement). My battery did not come with the tiny ribbon cable that connects the battery to the computer. So I had to take the one off of my old battery. Sliding it into the new battery was fiddly and profusely annoying as the connection is super small and there is a bend in the cable. You'll see! Also, the track pad has a bit of room around it. Before you tighten all the screws, open up the Macbook and make sure you have it oriented with an even gap around the edges. Not essential, but I am anal and can't stand asymmetry. Also, you're gonna have a lot of tiny screws laying around as you get things torn down. Keep em organized and away from your work area, lest you accidentally knock one off the table.

I also do not have the tiny ribbon cable that connects the battery to the computer! I've thrown away my old battery so not sure what to do now. Also my track pad is no longer clicking after Ive reinstalled it
What about cycle count after replacement???

Our batteries are designed to last anywhere from 3-5 hours on a full charge, depending on use.

Thanks for the video. As a battery quality is concerned - well I bought the one from OWC for my Macbook Pro 2015 and it lasted for one year. Contacted OWC - no response but it was expected since the purchase was made an year or so ago. The bottom line is - paying premium for third party battery from OWC does not guarantee the quality - I wish I knew it before I bought it so I would get a battery elsewhere for 50% or less of what I paid to OWC

no company should glue a battery to the laptop. Thats super duper idiotic. This inherently makes MacBook's a bad product.
will this kit work on the 2020 macbook pro? my connector screw snapped off in the battery management board and I can't get it out so basically all I can do is replace the battery.

I replaced the battery for my a2159 but now it only turns on with the power cable. All the readings from the battery are good (checked with the multimeter) so I’m not sure what’s going on
Probs a dud battery. Send it back for a replacement
@@harveyolszowski3510 did that and it still doesn’t work, might be something with the MacBook itself
