Thanks again Rae, I love the helpful hints that you give us as you paint. It’s those little things that can make all the difference in my work, especially when I write them down and re read them as I go. I find that I’m watching your videos over and over and I learn more each time. Thank you so much. 😊😊🥰💐
I am so glad you’re getting such a lot out of my videos, Kathryn. These are very old because I have not put any new ones on RUclips for years. But you can also watch older pre-recorded lessons that I have for sale. If you are interested I can send you an email With the variety of watch available and the cost..😊
How wonderful Shirley. Watercolor is such a wonderful, medium, so try and relax and enjoy it even though at times it will be frustrating. Thank you for your feedback. I really appreciate it.
Your paintings are so beautiful 💖 I would dearly love to see the whole painting at the end, a zoomed out version so I can appreciate the whole painting and not just a smaller view. Hope you'll consider my request. Thank you 😊💖
@@raeandrews1925 Rae you are one of the very few artists I watch. I love to see your colors come together and it's refreshing to see someone who's fearless with their art.
Thank you for your comment. I suggest you try not to overmix your colors.. allow the Watercolor to merge on the paper and leave lots of white paper showing …it really does help to keep your painting, clean looking… so for instance, if you put a yellow down on the page and while that yellow is still wet, add some blue to it, and watch the two colors merge together. It makes for a clean mixing of color rather than you mechanically mixing the yellow and blue on a palette before you put paint to the paper.. I hope that helps a little in your journey with Watercolor
I’m a Color lover too! I love watching your video. So inspiring! I’m so enjoying breaking the “rules” I learned when I started WC. The freedom to do what you not only love, but what you ENJOY, well, that’s everything, isn’t it! I can’t wait to use a straw to blow the paint around. Thx!
I am new at this, so exploring and experimenting with varying styles. I tend to work rather slow and intentional...until I found you. I sit for hours at a time mesmerised by your quick easy flow, your deliberate, yet loose application of bold colours, light to darks, large spaces first, with utmost care given to respecting the white spaces. My motto has long been "Life is a Dance" and I thank you for showing me how I can make this true for my art. Please tell me what "Subscribe" involves. Feeling Gratitude for your sharing your gifts! My friend Stella had one of you demo classes paintings of trees in her hallway which I always admired and envied some time ago now great to find you on u tube 😀
Does it matter if Opera Rose is a fugitive color? (Oops! I mean Opera Pink. Ignore me, this comment only applies to opera pink!) If I remember correctly, it has a florescent dye that fades over time. My paint Swatch of it has already faded (after 3 months) and it's not even exposed to light (Thank you for sharing your techniques. I love your vibrant colors and your expressive style!)
Opera Rose painted on the surface on it’s own could be a problem color. I painted this painting 4 years ago and I wasn’t that familiar with Opera Rose. It was a new color for me, but if you notice during the process of this video, the color was never painted completely on its own, it was always merged with another color. I feel that got me around some of the problems of that particular color and its properties. If I did this painting again, I probably would not use opera rose. I hope that’s answered your question.
Loving your work! Thank you for your video instruction!! Could you tell me what size is your dagger brush?? Looks like a Silver Black Velvet, but not sure what size?? Thank you!
Thank you for your interest Suzanne. My dagger brush is Silver Black Velvet and is 3/8” I love this brush, it makes the most magical marks.. Cheers and have fun with your painting, especially if you get a dagger brush..👍
@@raeandrews1925 Thank you so much..I was hoping that was it as thats what I see from my supplier online but for some reason I had it in my head as a 3/4.
With me it’s totally intuitive and I’ve done it for so long that I really know my colors because over the years I’ve made lots of messes and learn that way.
Thanks for these great videos, Rae! Do you always use paint straight from the tube or do you re-wet dried paint in a palette and use that, or both? What about when you are doing plein air painting? Just wondering what works best for your painting style.
I usually just rewet my paints on my palette Maura. I may need to add fresh paint too..especially the colors I use the most. When painting outside, I use colors I put in my plein air palette before I leave the house, but always carry spare tubes with me. What I never use are the pan colors..I can never get the vibrancy I like with them. Just a personal preference. Thank you for your comment. 😊
GREAT explanations...I'm definitely trying this today...You might me the perfect teacher for me, I paint loose, I love my dagger brush and it has been commented that I am a colorist also...I was a hair colorist in another life...

I tend to pull from a lot of cadmium colours but I have no idea why do you know why you use them
With me it’s totally intuitive and I’ve done it for so long that I really know my colors because over the years I’ve made lots of messes and learn that way.
@@raeandrews1925 I agree. I have no idea why I reach for them either. It's something so many of us do yet no one knows why. lol
