Iced Earth is my third all time favorite band ever right behind Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. I love all their albums big time accept for Crucible Of Man. They are the most consistent band in my opinion. My ranking does change sometimes, but at the moment it would have to be and with one song from each album.
    12. Crucible Of Man- Come What May
    11. Framing Armageddon - The Clouding
    10. Plagues Of Babylon - The End
    9. Burnt Offerings- Dante's Inferno
    8. Horror Show- Damien
    7. Something Wicked This Way Comes- Melancholy
    6. Dystopia- Dark City
    5. Incorruptible- Clear The Way
    4. The Glorious Burden - Gettysburg Trilogy
    3. The Dark Saga- A Question Of Heaven
    2. Iced Earth self titled debut album - Curse The Sky
    1. Night Of The Stormrider - Pure Evil
I am one of the few fans that loves Gene Adam on the first self titled debut album, and John Greely on Night Of The Stormrider. I do also really love Matt Barlow's versions on the Days Of Purgatory album alot . I agree that Alive In Athens three CD live album is PHENOMENAL! It is one of the greatest live albums ever. I also really love their other more recent live album Live In Ancient Kourion alot also.

So melodic and HEAVY, even the ballads. Schaffer’s picking hand is the best in the biz. How can you not love their galloping rhythms. My favs (like them all).
    1 Something Wicked...
    2 Dark Saga
    3 Burnt Offerings
    4 Dystopia
    5 Night of the Stormrider
    6 Framing Armageddon

Finally, I had drifted from traditional metal in the 90's and found myself in an independent record store in 2000 or so, where I saw Alive in Athens. Based on the cover alone, I had to have that album, and it is truly a classic. What Live After Death was for Iron Maiden, Alive in Athens is to Iced Earth. This album renewed my interest in traditional metal and is still pretty much a perfect live album.

The "Alive in Athens" was recorded in the famous Rodon Venue. It's official capacity was 1.000 people, but during the clubs great metal day's, it was always packed with over 1.500 attendees! I watched many killer shows during the nineties and the early 2.000. We were a very passionate crowd, as we did not have the opportunity to watch our favorite bands very often!

It is very true. We Greeks love Iced Earth big time, and they love us. I was 16 years old back in 1995 when I got into Iced Earth, and the first album I listened to was Night Of The Stormrider and have been a huge massive fan ever since. When I heard that their first live album was going to done in Athens Greece I was so happy and proud. It was about time that Greece got recognized for loving Heavy Metal music.

So glad to see that Jack is back!! Iced Earth is awesome man, they kick ass. I started with the Alive in Athens 3 CD box (which I think is one of the absolute best live albums of all time) and have been hooked ever since. Barlow is the best singer, but the Glorious Burden album with Ripper is fantastic. Really happy that Stu has taken over the vocal duties 'cause the man can sing! Whenever I want to put on an album that I know will give me an adrenaline rush, I reach out for one of my four go to bands: Iced Earth, Primal Fear, Iron Savior and Amon Amarth. I agree with the both of you that Iced Earth should be way bigger than they already are. They are my third all time favorite band ever right behind Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. The many lineup changes could be a reason why they are not bigger, and their first studio album came out in America in 1991 when this type of music was about to go back to the underground. I have been a huge massive fan of theirs since 1995 when I was 16 years old. I loved their album covers big time and the first album I bought was Night Of The Stormrider , and I have been a huge massive fan of theirs ever since. In my opinion they should be headlining arenas and stadiums all around the world. They are that PHENOMENAL to me. Thank you for giving them more exposure on your channel.

I am not sure if Pete and Jack knows that two years ago Gene Adam and Jon Schaffer reunited for the first time in almost thirty years and rerecorded five songs from their Purgatory days called Jon Schaffer's Purgatory and it is amazing. Gene Adam's singing is way better now than it was thirty years ago. Gene Adam did an incredible job on their recent EP. Most fans have been comparing his high vocals to King Diamond. Give it a chance if you have not listened to it yet. It has a modern day sound, but the music has an 80's vibe to it in my opinion. There are some Iced Earth fans that hate the self titled debut album because of Gene Adam's singing, but I have always loved it. His singing in my opinion fit the songs perfectly. I did also listen to the self titled debut album first before Days Of Purgatory because at that time it had not been done yet. I do love Matt Barlow's versions of the songs from the first two albums on Days Of Purgatory big time as well.

    2. Something WIcked This Way Comes 1998
    3. Dark Saga 1996
    4. Night of Stormrider 1991
    5. Horror Show 2001
    6. Iced Earth 1990
    7. Dystopia 2011
    8. Plagues of Babylon 2014
    9. The Glorious Burden 2004 (updated)
    10. Incorruptible 2017 (updated)
    11. The Crucible of Man 2008
    12. Framing Armageddon 2007
Listening to "Incorruptible" lately, I am thinking it is going to "creep up" for me too. UPDATE: "The Glorious Burden" is an epic subject to tackle, honestly find it a little uneven, people may not like that, but just my opinion!

I really loved Iced Earth in the late 90s and early 2000s. I've seen them live a couple of times, always with Barlow. In 1998 in Würzburg (my first concert, actually; they were accompanied by Brainstorm, Wicked Angel & Sentenced), in Wacken I wanna say 2000 and 2008 in Balingen. I didn't care much for them lately. I haven't really heard the most current album. So it will be 11 Albums for me.
I loved "Something Wicked This Way Comes" when it came out. Still do, actually. The exceptions always were the the 3 closing titles. So, I've never really been a fan of the "Wicked"-Story. They were talking about making more of it way before "Framing Armageddon" came out. I believe it was originally planned as the follow-up to "Horror Show". I wasn't thrilled about the prospect of more from the start. My favorite singer is Barlow. I really like Owens. I'm not the biggest fan of the 1st two singers. I actually never even remember their names, to be honest. I do like those albums, though. I never warmed up to Stu Block. I hated the version of "Dante's Inferno" they recorded with him.
Not ranked: "Incorruptible". I've heard about half the songs on YT before deciding wether to buy it or not. Didn't like it. That's why I stopped after half of it. Never bought it, never heard any of it again. Don't care for it, can't rank it.
    11. "Dystopia": I bought it. I've listened to it a couple of times. There is not a single song on it that stuck with me. Never heard it again.
    10. "Framing Armageddon": As I've said, I'm skepticical about the "Wicked"-Story. I kinda like "Framing Armageddon" (the track). I love "Ten Thousand Strong". I regularly listen to just that song of it. Haven't heard the full album in years.
    9. "Plagues of Babylon": I liked it somewhat when it came out. I listened to it quite regularly for a while. After I stopped I never really went back to it, though.Title track and "Cthulhu" are the ones I remember best.
    8. "Iced Earth": I'm with you guys. Great songs, terrible singer. There's really nothing else to say.
    7. "The Crucible of Men": I was thrilled for Barlow's comeback. I like the album quite fine. It doesn't stick out much. "I Walk Alone", "Divide Devour" & "Crucify the King" are really great. Rest is nice. I haven't listened to it a lot lately. But every now and then I put it on.
    6. "Horror Show": Couple of great songs, couple of nice songs, couple of not so memorable songs.
    5. "The Glorious Burden": Always the trilogies with Iced Earth. Don't care much for the "Gettysburg"-threesome. I really dig the rest. Those songs were written for Ripper, I think.
    4. "The Dark Saga": My 1st album. I bought it because it was mentioned in the German verion of the "Spawn"-comics. Pretty great, like it start to finish. Bought in late 1997.
    3. "Something Wicked This Way Comes": Rather shortly after "The Dark Saga". As I've said, I'm not a fan of the trilogy. But the rest I love. This and "The Dark Saga" change places according to whatever day it is.
    2. "Burnt Offerings": Great, absolutely great. I love it start to finish. It's dark, bombastic and only one is better.
    1. "Night of the Stormrider": I agree with you, that he's better than the 1st singer. I like the Barlow-Versions better, for sure. But I think these are their best songs. And it's different when you hear the album start to finish then when you hear them with other songs in-between and some of them even missing on "Alive in Athens" or "Days of Purgatory". I would've loved if they ever did a complete re-release with Barlow as the singer. But alas. Weaks singer , still their best album. At least in my opinion.
BTW: IIRC "The Dark Saga"-Cover was drawn by Greg Capullo, who did "Spawn" for a long time.

Framing Armageddon (Something Wicked Part 1) is my 2nd favorite album of theirs behind Something Wicked This Way Comes (1998). I really never understood the hate it gets. It's so underrated with amazing songs like: Something Wicked (Part 1), Setian Massacre, A Charge To Keep (MY FAVORITE SONG), Ten Thousand Strong, Order of the Rose, and The Clouding, plus all the cool interludes. Again, so underrated and imo WAY better than the first album with Tim, The Glorious Burden (2004), which I've never been a fan of.

I found out about Iced Earth in 2017, but didn't listen to them until 2020. So far I only heard three albums: Dystopia, Burnt Offernings and The Dark Saga. Loved Dystopia, but the other two aren't my cup of tea.
I want to mention that the band's music does live up to its name, for it feels quite cold, dark and scary. The openings to some songs sound like horror film soundtracks.
