We did this song in chamber singers in 2000 at the University of Florida. I've been captivated by this song since. It is so piercing and haunting it kills me.
This is such a beautiful and Eric you have done a great job and everyone your voices are amazing !!!!!!!!! I can sing 1st soprano pretty good but not that good .. GREAT JOB !!!
Great job everyone. Eric is one of my favorite composers and I love this piece. I do have a criticism, though. To whoever was mixing this, the soprano could have been turned down a little in volume. She has a beautiful voice, but the piece wasn't as cohesive because there was imbalance. Just a thought.
to gabby... obviously you didn't realize that was a conducting track released to everyone when he did water night for his virtual choir... so its not his video... perhaps check that you're not standing under an oak tree before throwing shade like that yeah?
Sorry Gabby you've missed it again, although I may be the most ghetto asian out there this is definitely not Eric Whitacres project. If you followed him you'd know that his virtual choirs amass thousands of people and if you look up virtual choir 3 you'll find that he released a CONDUCTING TRACK to everyone for download so that we could all make our own recordings to send back. This video is with a select few of a completely independant organization that more than likely sent these parts in for the final project but wanted a standalone. So Eric Whitacre didn't decide to omit 5 parts of his piece for a recording, and Eric Whitacre had no direct part in this videos making. Also, 14 part split*, and my area of study is brass so for me to know more about a chorale topic than you shows who doesn't do their studying. *cough* most of this could be inferred from reading the description *cough cough* not a matter of musical literacy *cough* just actually paying any attention to anything *cough* *flem*
Gabby Reed gabby I own a copy of water night and there if a 14 part slit chord. To perform this song properly you would need 14 people at least but there are only 9 in this video
SUPERBE ! ! ! ! , merci Arnold d'être passé par là ! !
Amazing

listen to this with headphones btw.
this is amazing! but, the chord at 2:53 just isn't the same without the 14 part split
who sings baritone part? we're VOICE TWINS!
Curious, in some parts of the song the harmonies split into like 14 parts di you just cut some of the doubled pitches? If so which ones.
Lower the volume on the soprano and raise the tenor :)
How did you do this with only 9 people when there is a 14 part split?

They had to throat sing to sing multiple tones.
Gabby Reed if you dont have a decent answer why not just be quiet.
Icelandic-American?:-)
Utter chaos.... Just have sb conduct it live and it might be more together... Male voices sound very unnatural as well
