Listen, I'm an elderly person. Back in the day, health insurance in the U.S, was great. Your insurance was covered by your employer. No such things as "deductible"! You could go to any doctor you wanted without a referral. What we have now in America is horrible. Do they really care about your health? No, they care about their wallet.

I totally agree. I worked for healthcare Plans for 30 years. I watched them evolve into the corrupt, money hungry industry it is today. It's all about how much money they make for their stock holders. I'm happy that I am now on Medicare and a supplement plan. I can go anywhere and see any doctor. I would never give up my Medicare and go with a so called ADVANTAGE Plan. Be Aware if you are 65+!!!!

Go to an mri place ,ask if you private pay for an mri on your husband's shoulder tell (tell them he just had surgery on his shoulder ) and you aren't happy with the care of your surgeon . I found one time if I had pri ate paid for ghe mri it would have been less than the co.pay I had to pay due to crummy insurance coverage. Find a good primary care doc and tell t hem your concerns. Depending on your insurance it sometimes depends upon how the primary care codes the order for tests and specialist, etc. A lot of practices bow to insurance companies. It's a crap shoot. A few days ago, my 29 yo niece went out with a friend to the local bar, in a VERY small town, where she had a mickey slipped in her drink and shortly after, 2 Spanish speaking men drug her out of the bar, unconscious, into their vehicle. Her friend saw what was happening, (she didn't accept their drink offer), got the license plate# and vehicle description, and immediately called the police. The police stopped the vehicle and my niece was taken to the hospital, she didn't know who she was or where she was at. We aren't yet sure if the perpetrators were detained or let loose.
My niece is well aware of the dangers of accepting drinks from others, but got caught up in the moment. She had won a game of pool and had already bbeen playing with these guys and her friend for hours. Oldest truck in the book, I know, but the point is, they had a heavy Spanish accent, immigrants for sure, illegal even, maybe

@ritatharp5238 because it's being regulated & controlled by gov't. We are now in an oligarchy where business colludes with gov't to limit & control competition. These gov't regulations funnel the contracts for medical equipment, drugs & supplies (typically with members of congress who own shares in these companies - & make bank with every transaction too!) Plus the collusion of the gov't to protect pharmaceutical Co's & medical personnel exemption from lawsuit for vax injury. Advisors to pharma become FDA regulators, which is the proverbial "fox managing the hen house! )
The administration of hospitals & medical groups making procedures (insurance Co's do this too) which bottleneck & harm people.
There's many more layers I've not mentioned! Suffice it to say, in the name of "public health" people are being harmed at every turn!!!

Physical therapy will cost out of pocket every visit, and if he winds up having surgery, the visits he had in this calendar year will count against his allotment for the year. They need to get you a ct scan, which they can read in house, to determine whether he needs an mri. Consider asking for that first, and call the slacker office back, and insist on getting that anti inflammatory med and more muscle relaxers called in TODAY. If they act reluctant in any way and continue to try to hustle him into their physical therapy racket, ask for everyone's full name, and file a complaint based on their neglect, with their own head office management. Then call your insurance company and file a grievance with them. You can also appeal their refusal to provide an mri because of their tier system. Being forced to do pt on an undiagnosed injury or condition is irresponsible and greedy. Good luck!
    Take great notes!

Second...I didn't know my birth father because I was told he was an alcoholic and beat my mother. She remarried to a wonderful man who treated me as his own, so I was able to see what a marriage and father should be. As I grew older, I still was never given a chance to meet my birth father because my mother was also VERY controlling. A few years ago I started looking into ancestry. I found that I had 4 half siblings, who I have been able to meet (my birth father had already died). They have confirmed that some of our father's problems continued, but also that he loved me and always wished he could have been a part of my life. I had always been determined that if anything had happened in my own marriage, that my girls would have access to their dad. Thankfully, we are still going strong 43 yrs and counting.

You can call your insurance 3 times & get 3 different answers. Sometimes it takes asking for a manager & giving them the 3 different answers & tell them you have to know what is the correct answer. Too many reps are not trained properly. I used to verify patient ins PT benefits & have pissed off reps for them giving incorrect answers. I don't give af. They should know their job. Just know that a frozen shld is very painful & at times requires surgery itself. Everyone loved the physical therapist I worked with, he really knew what he was doing. He could tell you what was wrong even before the MRI was done. Best of luck! Oh yeah, he was a physical therapist/certified orthopedic manual therapist.
In VA, you can take your PT order to any PT you want.
Also, PT benefits are separate from regular benefits. Some ins companies have a separate ded, OOP, & # of visits per year. Some have co-insurance until deductible is met, some have flat out copays. Hope this helps a little.

Well, don’t ya know he just pushed it back in 😳. There was a nurse in the place we were staying and she said it seemed okay, but to have it checked when we got home. He went to the doc, who said it was “fine”, but that if he was older he might need surgery. Hubby asked him what age, doc said well generally at 30 or older is when they might do surgery. lol. He thought hubby was in his mid 20’s. I don’t think it ever grieved him after that. Good luck to Kevin!

My experience with a torn rotator cuff started the same as yours. Went to a walk in clinic and then straight to an orthopedic doctor. Ended up getting a “special” MRI at the local university instead of the orthopedic office. Refused PT or post phoned it until after my surgery. My rotator cuff ended up being 80% torn. Things moved quickly after that, with surgery ASAP. PT after the surgery was what helped me regain full use of my arm again. I did have steroid shots before and after surgery, but surgery and PT healed my arm. No problems in about 10 years now. Insurance was United Health Care regional PPO. The biggest cost I remember was paying the copay each time I went to PT. Helped hurry that along buying and using the same weight they were using at PT. Learned the exercises and worked as instructed at home. Just my thoughts as someone who has done that, been there.

With Florida Blue HMO you’ll have to have PCP primary care provider first. Then PCP will refer you to the specialist and write all those referrals that have to have prior authorization code approved by your insurance. The prior authorization code is good for 3-6 months, it depends on your insurance and there is only certain amounts of visits to the specialist you’re referred to. If you don’t have all that your claim can be denied. If you go to the urgent care or emergency room you don’t need referral and prior authorization code. It’s terrible how insurance companies are confusing. But your PCP can give you referral and authorization code to get MRI but it has to be medically necessary code for it. And make sure you log in to your Florida blue account to check and make sure your MRI got approved or you can call them. Otherwise you’ll be paying for it.

Follow the insurance company’s policy. You don’t want to be sorry.
For us PT was worse but for some it helps.
He will know right away if it’s not helping. The pain will be horrifying.
Surgery is no walk in the park you will need PT after too so don’t use up your PT allowance.

MRI’s are very expensive. If I remember correctly my husbands MRI was in the thousands. That may be why they do that as a last resort. Physical Therapists now have a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT). My daughter went to school for 6 1/2 yrs, she even had a cadaver like MD’s have to study muscles, bones etc. Your husband should be making the phone calls and even getting an appointment for his primary doctor even if it’s a month away. I had a locked shoulder and it was painful. The PT helped me to get it unlocked and my mobility back to normal. I never had an MRI. PT’s will not let you do an exercise or stretch if it is painful. Going to physical therapy is documenting to your insurance company that you tried otherwise you may be considered a non compliant patient.

The one that begins with ‘L’ does NOT last 72 hours. I think after you turn 60, the perspiration moves from the arm pits and travels south. It sucks to get older!
You can always request the MRI and have it pre-approved to see what your insurance covers.

I recently did two months of physical therapy (twice a week) for what I was told was rotator cuff tendonitis..i woke up one day out of blue after a vaccination and could not move the arm or shoulder or even pick up a cup...most painful and I had spinal surgery with rods years ago.....the phsyical therapy was worth it for me (even though I hate going) as if you dont keep up exercises it can come to a full tear and need surgery or become painful again at the least. If you have medical insurance, definitely do it! When the pain got bad enough, I was screaming for help! I had no lifting of the arm or movement at all and if someone touched it--forget it. Good luck.

I had to leave workforce early due to needing both of my knees replaced, at the same time, and not having enough leave for the rehab. I luckily was eligible for state health insurance until I could get Medicare, but I had to pay for it. You’re right, once you’re no longer “part of the group plan”, it does soar up. I paid 8500/year for my insurance, which was a tax deduction, but still I had to pay for it to get the deduction. As a bonus, I had chosen a plan where my medication copays went against my deductible. I was on a medication that I received grant funding to bring the copays to 0. So, January 3 I’d order by meds, the grant paid the deductible, my deductible was met, and the rest of the year I paid nothing. I had both knees replaced, and had a week at a rehab facility, which was fully paid for at ZERO cost to me. Then I had to accept Medicare, which is my secondary. My primary is still through the state, and honestly it’s still pretty good. I know it costs the earth, but I’d probably pay for the best tier I could get, because “things happen”, and you want the best care you can get when it does.

I used antipirspirant my whole life, and as a "fluffy" gal I really needed it - lots of creases to sweat and get foul smelling. Anywho, at age 58 we moved from AK to AZ for the hot, fry climate and I stopped using antiperspirant cold turkey. I fear Alzheimer's and the reports I have read connecting aluminum with that disease (it has shown up in my family). My deodorant of choice was Everclear. I put some in a small spray bottle and dose the pits, and anywhere it won't sting, and I never had an odor problem. I am 70 now and when Lume came out I loved the commercials and tried it. I like the unscented cream in a tube best of all. My husband has also switched and he sweats like a racehorse in the Kentucky Derby! He is always doing physical labor (which I can't do) so he is a better test dubject. So far he doesn't get too ripe either. Don't use rubbing alcohol though. It gets absorbed through your skin and is toxic, which is why babies are no longer given alcohol baths to reduce a fever. We also don't use antibacterial soaps and cleaners 22:04 , just good old doap and water, so we don't create resistant bacteria. When I NEED an antibacterial wash (as in before a surgery) I just put my liquid shower gel in a pill bottle, spike it with Everclear, and I am good - per the pre-op nurse. We have a septic system, which means no chlorine bleach in the laundry or for other cleaning chores. I use a bidet when toileting (saves a bundle on TP!), take a thorough wash up of sweaty areas once (or twice-if needed) daily, and shower & shampoo weekly or before a medical appointment "just in case". My skin has gotten old lady fragile at 70, and there is no possibility of a cool shower in our AZ summers. Water comes out of the cold tap nearly scalding and would kill my skin no matter how much I moisturize! Construction here is crazy. The pipes are laid in shallow trenches so the water is heated by the sun in summer. They don't require venting to the outside if you have a gas stove in your kitchen either! Crazy.
I stumbled on your videos a few months ago, and once I got used to your hyper presentation style, I fell in love. You speak your mind with no apologies and I respect that in a person. God bless you and your family. I am sure to watch at least one of your videos every day. There is so much I could tell you about what you are dealing with and what to expect, but I don’t think you want me to write a novel on here. first of all, have a regular doctor that you go to for check ups or whatever , one that you have a good relationship with our rapport. For example, if I need a referral, all I have to do is call my doctors office and leave a message with her nurse. If the referral is not working out for me, I can call my doctors office and get a new one. The one thing you need to realize is everything that doctor does has to go through the insurance company first and then they can make the decision. I know it’s a pain in the butt, but it is a big waiting game and I’ve just learned to take it on the chin ,Because I was in pain and needed help Regardless of how long I had to wait and it sucks.

Happy Monday Michelle and Tribe Fam! Y'all been kicking out so many videos lately, I almost can't keep up! 😉 That's a good thing tho!
Girl, I'm 💯 with you on anything to do with "crimes against children". It matters not what it is, I'm always ONE & DONE for them too! It boils my blood and as a former Bounty Hunter, I can tell you that had one of "Ours" confronted that PoS egg donor, we have less restrictions on ... Um... "Roughin someone up" in cases like this. She would NEVER have been allowed to hold her child after that, full stop! 👊
Insurance Companies are Awful "Rackets" these days. Most of the people working there have ZERO knowledge of anything "Medical" either. That's their first problem (of SO many). I have come to the realization that it's almost less expensive to have NO insurance and pay Cash. Most Medical Facilities offer pretty significant discounts for those who pay Cash up front ( go figure, huh)! But it's the truth. I would suggest options as well, but it seems others have advised the same, and you've probably already taken most steps yourself as well. It just isn't how it used to be, nor does it WORK as it used to. The Healthcare System -like many other "systems" today, is def Broken. All about politics now, NOT actual "Care & Concern". I have MT (Manipulation Therapy) & PT 3x weekly for multiple long-term injuries, and thankfully for now, they're "work related" , so are covered. But it still requires constant diligence on my part (making sure the Therapists are documenting properly)-I receive weekly copies of my Visit Summaries, so INS can't pull any nonsense over my head. It's crazy we even have to do these things. But.. here we are. 🤷‍♀️ It sucks that people cannot just "TRUST" they all have our best interest at the core. Praying for healing for Kevin's shoulder, and for someone with GOOD intentions and ethics to be put in your paths so he can be healed and you both can stop exhausting so much into something that should just "Be a simple step".🙏🙏
Everything about the Deodorants, very true too. Switching to natural is gonna take your body a couple of weeks to adjust to, but then it will def be worth it, esp for Health concerns. I like and use "hello bello" products. Crystal, Sasquatch.. My fave brands. In toothpaste as well (hello bello). I use an app called "bobby approved" . All CLEAN, Safe products AND foods. It's easy because you can SCAN any item and it will tell you whether it's truly Organic (because some still deceive). It's an amazing, helpful app for SURE! K girl, I'm writing a Novel comment AGAIN 🙄😂 Have an amazing dinner with your friends and we'll catch you LIVE the next time! Stay Blessed 🩷✝️🇺🇲

It all boils down to what they will pay for. I’d suggest calling Florida blue as soon as they open I think it’s 8a est. I had Florida blue a few years ago and if/when I called as soon as they opened I had minimal to no wait. Write your questions down before you call. What is covered, not covered, copays, deductible, mri cost/copay. How much is physical therapy. I am an insurance expert since working at cvs pharmacy. 💕❤️🫶🏻🐿️

I've been using Lume for a year now and have both the underarm thing and the cream for "other parts of the body". Lume is great, at least for me. Yes, your body does change. Peri-menopause and menopause changes a lot for one thing. But, try them all and see which one you like. The thing with leaving kids behind. No, I never forgot I had kids with me either. I never left them alone. When a new mother I had a deli across the street from me. I often walked across the street to buy food. I never, ever left a child to go there, even when I had two toddlers to drag with me, not even if they were taking a nap. Never. One in each hand, one on my arm and I'm walking across the street, then dragging the bag with kids in each hand. Just to walk across the street for 15 minutes. HOW do you forget you have a kid? HOW?

I definitely smell different (I'm 51, and am close to menopause, I don't have periods every month anymore.) I used to love Degree, it stopped working on me, so I currently use Ban, and it works well, unless I have an extra high stress day. I shower daily. I used to be happy with just soap, but the past few months, have been dabbling in fragrances, I feel like I have a smell 😆
Now, trying to find a foundation that looks natural, but doesn't make me look older than I am. Everything I've researched/tried so far accentuates wrinkles you don't notice on me otherwise, and makes me look dry/crusty/cakey.
Have a fun time out with your friends! 🙂I'm jelly! 😆

If he's moving like you say he is his body is healing itself and those shots can mess with your muscle tissue. I had them with my bad hips. They don't last very long. Take 1 naproxin with 2 Ibuprofen once a day. The herbs take up to 3 days to start working. They helped me heal fast.

The physical therapy department was right across from the pool so if there was question the Therapist would cross the hall, provide input in additional options. As this pool was in an ICF/MR facility the population ranged from a college student who was injured when his sled ran into a tree before he was 10, to an Autistic Guy who could tell you the weather a couple of hours after hearing it. Insurance to cover Aquatic Therapy has been issue that continue to today.

We are paying out of pocket and paid for X-rays and mri and one doctor said he has severe arthritis in 3 disks at the base of his neck. He has lost use of most of his left hand and drives for a living. So instead of helping so he does not have to steer shift and all with one hand and elbow. They tell him to go to specialist that wants to have him first pay a nurse practitioner to set up to do the same tests he done. He said we paid already out of pocket for those tests. So we bypass the extra visit to just set up for the testing. He then says he wants different craya then he thinks his problem is in his elbow so he needed a nerve test. Hubby says my pain is in my neck I can’t take pain meds and drive a big rig that is on the same road his family and kids are in. So we gave up we seen the first tests crack and such and he has big gaps in his neck vertebra it’s so obvious. Then with this going on the doctor tells him to not do anything when he isn’t working and then in the same phone call tells him he needs physical therapy. Do they have brains? So we have bought him shoes he don’t have to tie and he’s driving the best he can. We had insurance before Obamacare then we lost it since it didn’t get to be one that could cover us in our state
