    Correction: Wilson's inauguration date in the video is wrong. There used to be annotations that corrected this as an overlay in the video but YT has since done away with that feature. Wilson was actually inaugurated in March 1917, because he can't time travel and because inaugurations used to take place in March before the 20th Amendment.

    The US was never neutral. It refused to object to the illegal British blockade, and provided the UK and France with weapons.

    • @HistoryCurator
      @HistoryCurator  6 лет назад +2

      In words yes, in deeds no. As the war went on it became increasingly obvious the US was favoring the Entente for the reasons discussed in video, but Wilson drove home the idea of neutrality for as long as he could.

      And thte Lusitania was a legal war target because she carried ammunition for the Brits.
      Something some historians like not to mention for some reason. So one Torpedo was enough to sink the ship because the ammuntion exploded.

    • @404Dannyboy
      @404Dannyboy 6 лет назад +1

      Something historians don't like to mention because not all of them agree that it had ammunition besides Remington cartridges which wasn't illicit.

    It’s a shame that this video doesn’t have more views. I guess this is too close to the truth. It could have been a bit deeper on some subjects, like the exact financial benefits had from the war, the loans , the manufacturing, weapons industry. Also it’s a shame that the start of the war isn’t mentioned and the British role in the start of wwI . Also the us role in the Versailles treaty , blaming Germany for everything for financial reasons

    WW1 was supposed to be unnecessary war for US so US didn't want to involved in WW1 actually because of their exceptionalism rules to keep living in peace without being involved in any war even though Britain have give a requested for US many time for being involved in this war to help them for pushed those German in that War but still US rejected that operation. However, German forced American to involved by attacking a numerous ship that have American Civilians in it and they even attack those US Cargo ship at that time. Then US declared a war against Germany. Same with WW2 which were started in 1939, US keep their exceptionalism to not involved in this war but just 2 years after WW2 happened, they got involved in 1941 when they declared a war against Japanese after the Pearl Harbor tragedy happened because of the Japanese attacked

    • @HistoryCurator
      @HistoryCurator  5 лет назад +3

      Thanks for your comment YT. The attack on the Lusitania, the ship that carried American civilians was in May 1915, and the US didn't enter the war until April 1917 almost two years later. The Lusitania was just one part of the tensions between the US and Germany that led to US entry into WWI.
