There are places here in Southern Utah that you have to do this. Some places it’s just sand so having a free standing tent is a must in some slot canyons. Good video to watch!
Thanks! I had trouble setting up my Gossamer Gear The Two tent this weekend on a rocky shoreline in Canada. First time using a non-freestanding tent. This is helpful.
Great, thank you for this, no BS stuff, straight to the point. But, so, what if the fly of the tent (outer layer) is separate and normally needs to be tightened with the stakes? I have the LanShan 1 tent, it's a double layer tent so the fly has separate cords/strings that are used to stretch the fly. They are not as long and most importantly, the loops are sewn so it's not possible to adjust the size of the loop, which would make it difficult, if not actually impossible, to stretch the outer layer with rocks... Any ideas? This goes for any tent that has a separate fly/outer layer on top of a mesh, actually... The one you showcased in this video is a single-wall from what I see, so this wouldn't be an issue.
It's good to see targeted con(tent) that supports the key stake holders.
How did you even came up with that one haha
@@OscarHikes They just pop into my head, no effort required.
Ha ha

I'm going for a music festival and we're allotted a parking lot instead of grass 😔.
I was looking for tips on how to do exactly this so thank you 🙏🏽

But if it's windy, will the rock not just saw through the cord?
I came here to ask that question and realised I already had
very helpful
As a scrub this was very helpful cheers
Glad I could help, scrub!
Awesomeeee
If its a windy night, the guylines will eventually get cut by those rocks
Are you German? I ask because you look and sound just like a friend of mine from Germany. Also, where do you hike?
Latvian living in southern Spain. In this particular video, I'm in Sierra de Gádor.
So 2 rocks instead of 1 does the job, so simple.
why not just one big rock?
The line might be too short for it @@solitone
