Yes there are several photos of complete cars on this site. One on the previous report and there is also a film of Mike Forsdykes car on the Marcos 50th anniversary entry below.
This is a 1961 model and was the prototype for the second Marcos. Mar for Marsh and Cos for Costin I was the first person to order a Marcos in 1959 and went on to race it winning the Autosport Championship in 1961 and was in the winning British team for the World Cup Race at Zandvoort the same year. I went on to win the production class at the Nurburgring in 1963 at the 500 km race. The videos of these races are included
Marcus GT. Nick name, " ugly as hell" car. Fiberglass and wood, this one looks like an 80's version. I woudnt buy it, but you could give it to me. Ill finish it.
It is a 1961 car and is the prototype Marcos designed by Denis Adams. These cars were made with a plywood chassis are very lightweight Raced very successfully by Jackie Stewart and Jackie Oliver and myself.
@@johnsutton3279 First cars were made in 1959. They made many between 1959 and 1961 when frank costin left the company. There is no way it is a prototype made in 1961 since there where many made beginning in 1959. The first ones were called the Marcus GT, often called the Marcus 1500, nickname because they had ford 1.5 liter engine. The company tried a 1.8 liter volvo in 63 that flopped. introduced a Marcus mini with metal frame in 1969 also with the volvo 1.8 litre and it failed. Company died in 1972. But was bought and relaunched in 1976 and the sold home built kits of the car. NOW I know what you have is A luton Gullwing model. Those cars were sold from 1961 and 1962 and only a few were sold. they were exclusively home built kit cars, and they delivered everything you needed to put one together. They had 1 litre engines. The chassis was put together and delivered as a whole. Those don't appear to be the original rims. The original were solid and had no vent holes. Its not really a prototype. Its more of a one off . Still it is a very nice historical car . I would make it look like a museum piece. I just love to restore unique cars. You should see the rare 64 MGB i did, first electronic overdrive car. taking it from Basket case to museum. The car you have was made specifically for the home grown GT racer.
Sounds like a chancer trying to aquire your historic vehicle at nil cost. Is this the actual one which you raced, or a replacement? I imagine the termites in Florida would very much like to eat her!@@johnsutton3279
