Hi Muhamad. The flame colour depends upon what liquid is in the bubbler. Also it will vary the amount of flashback you experience. I use 30% acetone with 70% methylated spirits. You can also add a tiny amount of pink Borax powder. This is a receipe I was sent by an ex-jeweller and works very well. Completely stops flashback (you will get lots with just distilled water). Also makes a longer, hotter flame of a different colour which is easier to see. Cheers Rob
@@Xynudu Sorry for just learning😅 So I just mix 70% methylated spirit (CH₃OH) and 30% acetone (C₃H₆O) into my safety bubbler tank replacing pure distilled water in it? And is it mandatory to add pink borax for colored flame? I can't find it where I live or in the marketplace in my country. Thanks rob, much appreciated😇
Yes. That's what I use. It will work fine without Borax. The flame colour is not determined by the Borax. Another thing with these units is to release pressure in the large electrolyte tank (loosen cap) after use and shut down, otherwise the electrolyte or bubbler fluid can syphon into each other. The bubbler has a one way valve in the top section, but it can stick and cause a problem. Cheers Rob
I just bought one of these Brown's gas torch's, I've been working in and around Brown's Gas for several years. I've been reading (trying to read) the instruction manual, it says alcohol can be used in what the call the filter cup, I would have called that a flash back arrestor. If the torch flame flash's back surely there will be a mini explosion in the filter with the alcohol in it? I put distilled water in the filter (their name).
It is unlikely there will be an explosion with alcohol (methylated spirits) from flashback, in the same way as there is no explosion with any regular camping stove metho burner. Alcohol greatly reduces the chance of flashback and if you add 20% Acetone it will totally eliminate it. Using only water WILL definitely cause major flashback. I am speaking from experience here.
