It's a great game, the only thing that brings it down is the drama between characters. The gameplay is fluid, crafting is based, coop is fun and the overall plot is amazing. But yeah those little drama moments are baaad
Visceral made this, but this was one of the first very obvious victims of EA strongarming companies into forced microtransactions. This game could have been AMAZING. EA is the absolute worst.
This game had one of the best co op experiences, particularly when you're playing Carver's co op missions. One of the players is tripping balls in gameplay and cutscenes while the one playing Isaac doesn't see what the player playing as Carver sees. I remember playing this with a friend and he's asking if I can "see all this shit". And I have to keep saying I don't know what he's talking about. And there are bits where Carver gets pulled into fights in his own mind, so Isaac has to keep Carver's body safe from Necromorphs spawning in the area while Carver deals with his mental issues. When Carver takes damage in his mind, Isaac can see his RIG showing that damage he's taking. EA really hurt this game when it first released thanks to the monetization and I do think 3 strayed away from its horror roots, but as general games go, I still enjoyed what 3 brought to the experience.
agreed, gameplay-wise, it's a really fun experience customizing and modding your own gun. This however, took away a chuck of the difficulty with universal ammunition.
In dead space 3 they made the new mechanic where the plasma cutter does more damage and is more effective vs enemies with long limbs and bullets do more damage vs human like enemies. They make you have to adjust depending on your enemy.

The crafting for resources sounds good on paper, but I prefered classic approach of Plasma Cutter + 2nd gun with most expensive ammo boxes to sell. Can't craft ammo in the combat lmao. BTW don''t forget to roll like in Souls series and it takes awhile (and some resources) to build good setup. That's why Plasma Cutter is so weak early. Dismantling some pre-build weapons can give you +3 upgrade circuits early

What's kind of sad is that the things that ruined Resident Evil happened to the Dead Space, the franchise that had a great chance at REPLACING IT, on speedrun mode -- and for no other reason than EA losing their shit completely just after Mass Effect 2's release.
Considering that EA shut down the guys behind the remake because it didn’t “meet expected sales numbers”, I highly and sadly doubt that 2 will get a remake It’s fine for what it is currently though, and at least holds up better

Yeah the ending is great. I just finished the series recently and really enjoyed it. Personally I don’t consider the DLC as canon, not until there’s a continuation anyways because that was the most annoying cliffhanger ending I’ve seen.

And Glen Schofield trying to pitch a Dead Space 4 idea to EA early this year before basically being told “Thanks for the offer, but no Dead Space right now” Everybody knows there’s clearly more to be told in that world, especially after Dead Space 3, but EA are the only ones not letting it happen. This game had so many flaws but playing in co op with my friend for the first time was fucking epic. Seeing Clark and his carver losing his mind was so much fun. I think the story being way to convoluted and the evil micro transactions and I guess also the mechanics turning into a monster mash of military guns being jammed together really killed the game off.

However, DS3 tried something different because they didn't want it to go stale, even experimenting with mechanics like more gun customization instead of the normal node system and even incorporated multiplayer, although locking content behind multiplayer was not a smart move. They tested out some stuff to keep the game fresh and unfortunately it didn't pay off, but It was still a fun game. Also if 1 & 2 didn't exist and so it had been a new Ip without the shoes of its predecessors to fill people would not shit on it nowhere near as much and would in fact praise it. But yeah it is definitively the worst entry in the franchise.

Dead space 2, has more action cause it is Isaac's continuous fight against them, he's gotten more use to them, so that's why its not that scary and dead space 3 is just angry Isaac stepping on necromorphs as his daily chores
