  • You can absolutely run if you have high arches! Just remember the best way to connect with the ground if you're a high arched runner is on your forefoot NOT your heel! This is because forefoot running was found to do a better job at engaging the arch in a more functional manner as a shock absorber (REGARDLESS of arch height) vs heel strike running.
    It turns out the arch loads differently, in a more functional manner in forefoot running than in heel strike running. Forefoot running engages arch compression which improves the shock absorbing characteristics of the arch, whereas heel strike running causes too much arch deformation, impairing the arches capacity to absorb impact - runforefoot.com...

    I have relatively high arches. I am a heel striker too.When I wear shoes with high cushion (>30mm at the heel) especially if the foam is soft me knee (patella) hurt during and after running? Would running with minimum cushion at the heel help correct this and help me a become a better forefoot striker?
