Imagine that. Were trucks so cheap back in the day that people just stopped using them, parked them permanently, and uttered "oh well" as if they didn't matter, even for reselling them?
Yeah, there's a video of a 1978 F250 4x4 on here being detailed that the old man that bought it drove like 2 times and stuck it in a garage and never touched it again just because he never needed to drive it. Had like 140 miles on it. Unless you're very well off or borderline rich today you don't even think like that. Obviously the ratio between income and truck prices were even more extreme back in the 70s than the 2000s.

The fact you got a 3500 with the 8.1 and its 4x4 and is pretty much loaded for 3,250 is a hell of a find let alone in that condition most used car dealerships would just do the bare minimum and charge 25,000 for that truck its honestly sick how used car dealerships can do this kind of stunt and really people who scam you should be criminaly charged with theft as your getting robbed
That sounds like some commie BS Thankfully we live in a free market where if you do your own search for a good truck you might stumble upon a good deal and can make some money if one wants to resell

Overloaded more times than we could count and didn't fail us until the fuel pump went in 2015. Sadly the PA winters ate it down to the bone so it went to scrap in 2020 with 256k on the original engine, transmission, and differentials. It was the last vehicle my dad bought brand new and it paid every cent back in service. Hopefully his 2017 doesn't let him down.

I’d change the oil, change tires, clean the throttle body and give her a good bath. Watch out for break lines going bad and the inevitable bad Chevy front wheel bearings. Awesome find! Thanks for posting!
Id add changing coolant and transmission fluid to that list, coolant becomes corrosive, and oil degrades after time, sitting ten years every fluid actually should be changed diff gear oil and all

Nice truck you got. Other then the Gas it Takes-Needs. To bad it’s not a Diesel. Definitely seemed like a security issue, at first when it was starting and diesing.
I've driven nothing but 8.1 trucks since 2005. Best truck gm built. Have to replace passenger side motor mount and exhaust manifold gasket on mine this weekend. That truck will start and stall if the induction tube disconnected because the ECM needs to see a changing MAF (mass air flow) signal. No tube, the engine can't pull air through the MAF. GM, and many others, will do this because the MAF is used to help control the volume of fuel through the injectors.
I love your videos. However, just a thought -- always drain the old gas out of the tank. Never add good gas to old. Depends on the age of the gas, right? Ben
That starting and dying is the security system it's trying to recognize the key. turn it forward let the key set on run for 5 mins with the engine off and it should reconnect the key then start mine does it all the time . The part that reads the key in the column is bad on mine

My neighbor has an 03 avalanche 2500 with the 8.1. I think the reason why it kept stalling at first was an anti theft system. I did some work to his truck and I had the same stalling problem after reconnecting the battery a couple different times.
