You have earned all watchmakers a new found respect from me. I am a new subscriber also! Thank you for these videos I found you by accident, The algorithm chose and I'm digging it! Have a great day! With respect from East Texas.
It's obvious that the builders of this beautiful timepiece, were beyond Masters of the Art and Craft 💜 Genuinely Awed . Thank you for sharing this marvelous experience. What an honor it must be , to be entrusted with such a rare piece of history. Much Respect 🫡🤝 Good Fortunes and Great Successes
Lovely watch. One feature you did not notice is the balance wheel. The cuts on regular bimetallic are 90 degrees from the arms. These are at 30-60 which indicates that this has a Guilaume balance. The steel is a an alloy with special expansion rate to reduce and possibly eliminate middle temperature error. V&C use these often in their top end timepieces. In addition the shorter unsupported arms are more rigid. These are usually called torpedo boat watches or "Chronometre du Bord"
Absolutely stunning. it blows my mind that they had that amount of dedication to precision and detail with the tools they had at hand. I have a beautiful pre Heuer pocket watch made by or under the direct supervision of Eduardo Heuer, it isn't as fancy but i can see the same passion in this piece.
It's very entertaining to see your enthusiasm for the craftsmanship and artistry of this timepiece. I am an aspiring watchmaker and this kind of content serves to make me even more excited to learn about the art.
🥰🤯 touching something like this is like touching a holy grail. That watchmaker must-have been very experienced. The case doesn't look to fancy from the outside. A real treat. Don't drewl to much on the movement.
In fairness to the British, in a submarine there are no windows to see the sun or stars so they put a really expensive and accurate timepiece on it. No expense was spared in acquiring this watch. Would love to see it on the timegrapher for 10 seconds before servicing.
Thank you for the personal tour of a masterpiece of workmanship. This artwork is for only a few and typically hidden from view unlike the museum pieces from arrogant self professed artists. What a treat to see. Did you do a video on the restoration so we can learn of the closing chapter of this story?
Great video, I have watched it twice. Would it be possible to show us a temperature compensated balance in warm and cold conditions? I would be interested to see how much they move.
Just Wow! Mind boggling. How do they achieve the 3d bar look on the metal. New to your channel but am basically binge watching while I have COVID. Also one thing Dundee is in Scotland , you seem to appreciate accuracy 😉👍🏼
How did they make the temperature compensated balance? Did they solder the steel and brass together? or is it held in place by the variable inertia regulating screws? Or is it fused purely with heat? I would really love to know! Thanks in advance! :)
For the finger print, you should conduct an investigation.....I doubt this may comes from a previous watchmaker. It may comes from the owner. 1) the backing is easy to open by anyones. 2) people love To see and show the interior. Just saying 😁.after aller you have thé most important evidence: the finger prin....cant argue acter that.....sheers!😂
"Dundee, ENGLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I strongly advise you never to visit SCOTLAND. You'd be immediately lynched for describing Dundee's location as being in England! Scotland is a small country with a huge and fearsome ego. But seriously, bringing your expert eye and pointing out to us non-experts the incredible craftsmanship in this 1940s watch is very illuminating. I have a sort of amateurish interest in watch movements and would have missed 90% of what you're describing. Thanks for your youtube channel. Always interesting.
We’re losing the ability to do beautiful things with our hands only and no computer graphics or laser printer. More specialists should be trained to keep these skills alive.
a mechanical work of art on a microscopic scale ...........I have a P.Orr & Son from that time and even though its an early chronograph from a naval officer .....its got nowhere near this kind of detail
Very nice but an industrial Finnish deck watch with replaceable parts for 20 0r 40 warships with similar accuracy could have been accomplished instead of rich mans toy!

This is what made me fall in love with mechanical watches!!

Simply stunning
Your commentary is simply a joy to listen to.

Unmatched craftsmanship
Just the polished chamfers on everything, the time!! absolutely love looking at the best quality ❤
Your passion for your work is so inspiring. When we strive to do our best before God, we find the true length of our abilities.
Impressive as well as beautiful
The click spring, swan neck spring & pallet fork are works of art like an Alexander Calder sculpture/mobile - just fascinating !
Old watches just look better then modern watches
The perfect angles of each individual wheel teeth 😮❤
Stunning! Even nicer than the A Lange & Sohne B-Uhr Navigation watches produced for the Luftwaffe! Great video, thank You! I have subscribed.
So beautiful
Mind Blowing....
I really want to thank you with all my heart for explaining the differences and the beautiful craftsmanship of this valuable masterpiece
I love your stuff!
I agree, this is horological state of the art. Thank you so much for sharing. I still got goosebumps.

Lovely. Dundee is in Scotland not England.
Insane 🤯 The perfect watch, in every way
Amazing! The fit and finish! Gobsmacked!! Thank you for sharing this masterpiece with us.

Hope you recover soon! Thank you so much for your support.
The daylight bulb interferes with video format hence the flickering picture. Easy fix = use a tungsten bulb not daylight.
How did they make the temperature compensated balance? Did they solder the steel and brass together? or is it held in place by the variable inertia regulating screws? Or is it fused purely with heat? I would really love to know!
Thanks in advance! :)
I’ll try to look it up in the old books, I’m not 100% sure. Amazing stuff right?
hello, could you make a video on tourbillon, carousel, 2 axis tourbillon,3 axis or spherion (eric coudray)?
I will Eric, thnx for the tip!
@@ChronoglideWatchmaking Really impatient to see it. I am passionate now because of your videos 😍
are they made this well today ??
Do anyone have an idea about price of such unique piece???
We’re real rubies used back then? Did the master watchmaker leave his mark for future identification? Amazing stuff here Kalle, as usual.
Thanks Sir!
In today's world poisoned by compromise, this is the antidote.
Well put, love your comment!

There was only one way to make it for them an that was the right way.
