    Good lord... The 8-track and Cassette/ You are killing it Ferraro!
    I wish I wasn't working when this premiered...
    I spent many of hours listening and watching all the stuff in this box set... When you get all that extra information in the book and see them live... you really get to appreciate the albums so much more! The 5.1 was done pretty well! I know it was not recorded and intended to be in 5.1... but they did a decent job on it...
    I am so lucky and proud to have been able to experience this... and Heavy Horses! @Anthony Ferraro THANK YOU!

    Even after giving Barlow, Evan and Palmer the boot this version of the band was pretty strong - Anderson, Barre, Pegg and Craney was a formidable unit and adding Jobson topped it off. It is amazing how many jazz-influenced drummers played in this band continued on now with Scott Hammond. Looks to be a worthy purchase, interested to watch the show and read the comments.

  • @DavysFlicks
    @DavysFlicks 3 года назад +2

    I agree, if you're going as far as Broadsword...do 'em all. Steven Wilson orignally said he didn't want to go past the 70s but clearly with this and Broadsword he was talked round (probably because he thought he'd be touring his album and that didn't happen with COVID so he suddenly had time). Crest Of A Knave: Grammy Edition sells itself...by then - you've only got a few more to go.
    Imagine what we'd pay if all the content from the booklets of these was added together to make a history of the band. It'd be an epic tome.

    I have them all and started collecting them when they started with Thick As A Brick back in 2011/12. That only cost me £14 from Amazon and I also got War Child and Too Old To Rock N' Roll at the same price. As far as I am aware of Benefit is only being re-packaged and the content will contain the same as the Collectors Edition that Wilson mixed back in 2012. Personally, I don't think these packages can be beaten and they are by far the best value for the buck of any box set.
    To be honest I was never into A when it was released back in 1980 and considered it to be one of the worst Tull albums ever. It does sound better with this Wilson mix and the tracks from it have always sounded better live. I never had the Slipstream video and that was most likely down to me not into being into A back then that I never bothered with it. Having seen it now I totally love it and the 5.1 mixes of the live concert in LA and Slipstream plus the album make it all much more enjoyable. I got a lot more out of this release than I expected and have quite a bit of praise for this release even though my favourite era of the band is from 68 - 78.

    Couldn't agree more all the Steven Wilson remixes I have heard, Yes, Tull... all have great clarity and balance. No mega-bass, volume wars but good alt mixes, too. Anoher would be Tony Visconti's remix of Lodger .. alt. vocal tracks used, additional vocals but the over dubbed guitar is lost and I miss it - Still, you can't please all the people all of the time .. :-)

    This is a weird one,no flute but big on synths. It was a brave step and i kinda like it. I must admit i am not the greatest fan,i have few classic CDs from 70s, i listened "A" only on YT. I was interested because it came out in Yugoslavia when i started to listen and collect records (i was 13),commercials about this album were very frequent in music press (we had just one magazine at that time) but i never bought it because i was more into punk, Motorhead,Iron maiden,new wave,post punk. This album has some new wave vibe. Actually,at that time i had 2 JETHRO LPs,my cousin gave them to me,he is 10 years older and i really didn't understood this music. I had WAR CHILD and TOO OLD TO ROCK&ROLL TOO YOUNG TO DIE,i almost forgot that fact,so i go to revisit this albums,i hope i will not be disapointed like i was in my young days

  • @rightchordleadership

    I have everything Tull ever put out and I’ve seen them more times than any other band. Having said that, “A” is an interesting album but doesn’t make my top 10. In fact, I’d put it somewhere in the bottom third. It’s certainly not a bad album, but it’s not one I reach for very often. However, I frickin love black Sunday and the pine marten’s jig. And further on is also very cool. So the album gets a C+ from me. For comparison, my favorite albums are SFTW and HH, so the electronic leanings of “A” don’t quite hit the spot for me. They’d find a much better blend of rustic and electronic elements on their following album, TBSATB.

    Seeing as this is the second weakest album in the Tull catalogue (Only Too Old to Rock-n-Roll is weaker), I will likely pass on this. I've only bought a couple so far, mainly for the extra tracks or live stuff I haven't heard. But "Broadsword" is a top 5 Tull album for me so I may grab that. These Tull "booksets" are among the best value
      propositions for fans out there. The upcoming 40th for Broadsword And The Beast is supposed to be extra special according to Ian. I like it though as Pete's old format of the listening room might have had cool stuff that got missed as people didn't want to watch for 20mins in case that one thing they're curious about got a mention. This way each review gets a vid.

      What's not to like? You get advanced notice of when a video is posting, and then you can watch the live premiere and chat with others (and occasionally myself) or watch it later. We are doing this so we have specific content on specific days, so everyone knows when things will post on the channel. It's not like the episodes are disappearing, you watch them when they go live or later, just like a regular TV or cable channel. To be honest, most people seem to enjoy this format as it makes this much more organized instead of just haphazardly posting content at weird hours of the day and random days during the week, which makes it MUCH easier to miss episodes.
